You got that right. I was chief of security for a provincial park out here in BC some time back and one night a girl was attacked and if I hadn't been driving by at the time and heard her screaming it would have been far worse for her. There were at least 4 people filming it on their cell phones but not one of them showed any sign of doing something about it. When I talked to them later to get their info for the RCMP they all acted like it was the biggest thrill in their lives. The members had no trouble identifying the perp with all that video, but I doubt any of those folks would have fessed up to having it were I not there. You should have heard the fury when they all had their phones confiscated.

The perv appears to be aboriginal, definitely not Caucasian anyway. If a middle aged white man were to confront the perv there is a really high probability that the young blonde woman would take the perv's side, and so would the rest of the passengers. Yeah, it's that bad.

And people say that non whites do NOT have a prefference for white girls specifically light haired white girls!! even though it is dyed it is still a huge turn on to non white males!! plain and simple ague with me but you can't argue with the fact's ....trouble is thier are less and less white girls to go around thanks to progressive mentalities!!

Your memory served a double fault. The TTC, for all its many faults which I've documented throughout this series, has the lowest percentage subsidy of any mass transit system in North America. Riders pay ~65% of the cost, with the city, province, and occasionally the feds, chipping in the rest.

And to be fair, the TTC is hamstrung by politicians. When it wanted to reduce service, for example, on one very lightly used route after 8 pm, there was a huge outcry from wymyn's groups because 12 of the dears met at a facility served by it twice a week, and they didn't want to walk the 600 yards to the next busiest stop at night. So the bus, with its $40/hr driver and who knows what operating costs, continues to run.

As for the video: plastered all across YRT buses are signs showing a guy being led away in handcuffs by the cops with the caption - "He's not with her; he's with me". Other than one incident I discussed earlier, I've never seen a man molesting a woman in any way in over 40 years of riding, but I tend to ride during rush hours. The situation might be different late at night, especially after lads have been drinking.

What I don't understand is why the woman didn't turn around and tell him to quit it. No boundaries: The perv has no boundaries and neither does the woman whose hair is being touched. It's like they all live in a barnyard where anything goes.

BTW, I'm a woman. Anyone stroking my hair in public transit would get it from me. I would have pulled away immediately and turned around to see who was touching me and, depending on the guy's reaction, I'd probably ask him, with some irritation in my voice, what the heck he thought he was doing?

I was watching a thing on the Costa Concordia the other night and was sort of taken back by the number of cellphone and video recording there were of an ongoing disaster . I think the video generation has been desensitized to the point that everything is just a video or a facebook entry. the video taker of this was realizing this was wrong but not to the point of doing something about it , just to the point of being a pappirazzi and gaining some attention for him/herself.

Predators just know how to pick their prey-simple as that- they can smell the weak, wounded and the ones likely to freeze.

Young women and girls need to be taught to walk in an assertive manner, sit up straight, and be-aware of their surroundings at all times when in public-strong body language is key to deterring predators.

Self-defense courses can literally save a womens life-every women should take one, regardless of their age. Highly recommend 'Wenlido' - it's equally effective for all women of all ages and abilities, including children.

Viewing this video should be part of training for all transit employees, with instructions to report any such assaults to the police.

They should exert maximal effort to catch this individual, and prosecute, along with a ban him from use of public transit. All it takes is will on the part of the authorities.

Best thing would have been for the woman to turn around and spray the guy in the face with some mace. Oops, forgot, illegal to carry around although I've smuggled many mace cannisters across the border for female friends. Guess it has to be bear spray in Canada.

Having had some experience in training women to fight back, I wouldn't advise it unless women are armed. Years ago a group of us wanted to help out some women in self defense tactics and essentially let them have free reign in punching and kicking so they could get used to the idea of attacking a man. All of the women pulled their punches and kicks even they were guaranteed human punching bags that had enough self control to not reflexively fight back in this situation. One of the women was taking a karate course with me and she wanted to do full contact sparring and I had her almost vomiting on the ground after a front snap to the solar plexus. She delivered some good blows to me, but they were nothing like what I'd get from my male sparring partners.

That's why I believe in concealed carry as it makes up for a womans physical disadvantage in muscular strength. Normally one would expect nearby males to step in, but with metrosexual males, one can expect them to hide under bus seats rather than get involved when it counts.

Aside from the number of perverts that ride public transit, one has to contend with any number of potentially infectious diseases spread by people who don't even have the decency to comb the lice out of each others hair. If I don't have a vehicle, I walk. My limit for walking is about 10 miles now and I used to ride a bicycle but I refuse to wear a bicycle helmet and I would only ride a bicycle in a large city in Canada now if concealed carry was allowed. A .45 goes some way to equalizing the situation between a cyclist and a Hong Kong immigrant who figures the value of his vehicle makes him have the right of way in all situations.

Cut the transit funding. Right after you cut street and highway funding first. Let the market decide how it will get to work.

Also, some people depend on public transportation for any number of reasons. Give the drivers the ability (and arms, if necessary) to boot off troublesome passengers. That might solve a few problems.
