Convicted terrorist wins "social justice" award. The Left seems incapable at laughing at themselves, leaving a large vacuum for us to laugh at them.

In a rare moment of honesty Lawrence Martin admits that the liberals put political correctness and party fortunes ahead of the welfare of the natives.
Then he goes on to bash Harper for not caring about the natives, of course.
He also admits,(without realizing it), that the Reform Party was years ahead of the liberals and media:

"Back in the days of Jean Chrétien’s government, I recall talking to a very senior player about the issue of accountability on first nation reserves. The Canadian Alliance was probing the matter, and there were allegations, nothing too specific, about spending abuses. Money disappearing down a black hole, that kind of thing.

Raising it with the Chrétien official, I recall being surprised when he said there was a basis for many of the allegations. It was a potentially a major scandal, he said. So why, I asked, was no one probing it? Too sensitive, he said. “We’d be accused of racism.”"

Re: Dorsey Bros.

Thanks EBD. My Dad had an old 78 "Victrola" gamophone, it came with 2-3 Dorsey Bros. records. He traded it for a silver dollar collection. I never thought I`d hear them again.

I'm not sure if you merely picked up on what Knight99 intended, or if the slur on the workers is your notion alone, but as an Albertan, I would like to remind you that CATTLE SHIT TOO.

What is Ecoli?

Ecoli is a natural occurring bacteria in cattle stomachs. They are not harmful to cattle but they have the potential to produce a toxin that is harmful to people.

Seems that there are some teachers who have seen the light:

Maybe we'll see that same level of armed teachers in the US that Israel has. Don't seem to have been many Israeli school massacres lately. Of course, all of the usual suspects are appalled that teachers would even consider concealed carry in the classroom and are insistent that schools should remain a target rich environment, or in more "politically correct" terms, gun free zones.

@Dizzy

I think all knight 99 was alluding to was that the hygene practices of third world countries is far less ....shall we say modern than in the western world yet the left and all the other morons keep touting about how divercity and multiculturalism really works !!

you can the tribal soldier out of a third world sh!thole but you cant take the third world sh!t hole out of the tribal soldier!!

Not about personal or practiced hygiene alone, but the ability or willingness to conform to rules and procedures that make our society safe with First World standards.

A global news crew has been kicked off the reserve on orders from Chief Spence.

CBC is not reporting on this. But they have found someone on the reserve that supports Spence.

However,this same fellow;
Feb 23, 2012 – Lindy Shisheesh is circulating a petition calling for third-party managers to be allowed into Attawapiskat to provide an update on band finances .

I don't know why he changed his mind or how the cbc found him,but there it is.

As a general proposition, if your ostensible purpose is to trick people into sympathizing with you by manipulating their sense of fair play, it's probably not the best idea evah to let them know that you're really playing games in pursuit of something completely different.

On the other hand, His Excellency might just have solved the problem for us: pray he doesn't change his mind.

Some time back KevinB challenged me for more info on ABCT (Austrian Business Cycle Theory) to which I provided a HAA (Half-assed account).

Here's a much better, link-rich account.

The Austrian theory rests, not on a catalyzing effect of core inflation or headline inflation, but on changes in relative prices that cause resources to be allocated in ultimately unsustainable ways. . . .

This point is especially important in the early stages of recovery when there is so much unused capacity and previous investment pessimism that expansions in bank credit (not meaning base money) may be returning to sustainable levels and inflation in the usual sense is unlikely. Nevertheless, as the recovery proceeds, there is a danger that maintenance of low interest rates by the central bank for long periods can induce a distorted character of investment, even as the total amount of investment measured throughout the economy has not recovered.

The important point is that, for Hayek, investment is not a homogeneous phenomenon. It matters where the investment is (that is, stages farther from or nearer to consumption). Not all investment should be analogized to simple inventory investment.

The policy-relevant point is that if the central bank decides not to allow interest rates to rise until aggregate investment has recovered to boom levels, it will have waited too long. The character of the investment will be distorted. Malinvestments will set in—even without inflation.

Update on my previous post:

http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/story/2013/01/08/pol-governor-general-first-nations-friday-meeting.html

So much for a principled stand, I guess, clearly articulated and arrived at through a process of, um, careful thought.

While the underlying confusion wasn't mine, I do apologize for adding to it. It's pretty hard to keep up with this nail-biter of a story, let me tell you. More twists and turns than Fast and Furious!

I have nothing against the Metis, but how does a judge figure they should have the same status as treaty aboriginals? And natives not on reserves are now all treaty natives?

Someone correct me if I am wrong but Metis are descendants of native women and French voyagers. Does that not make them just another Canadian in the end? I don't see anything special there.

http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/canada/could-metis-membership-applications-spike-after-federal-court-ruling-186127312.html

The way I read the story, there will be a new flood of leaches looking to latch onto the entitlement bandwagon, and that the judge has basically changed the rules on who is a status native and who isn't.

"Fierce winter weather batters Mideast, flooding and accidents kill 8"

"Samawi called it the "fiercest storm to hit the Mideast in the month of January in at least 30 years.

The snowstorm followed four days of torrential rain, which caused flooding in many areas across the country.

In Lebanon, several days of winds and heavy rain along the coast and record snow in the mountains caused power outages across the country, blocked traffic and shut down mountain passes. Later Wednesday, snow is forecast at altitudes higher than 200 yards (meters), while rain that has already flooded suburbs of the capital, Beirut, should continue.

In Egypt, rare downpours, strong winds and low visibility disrupted Suez Canal operations over the past three days and also led to the closure of several ports. The number of ships moving through the Suez Canal had fallen by half because of poor visibility, the official MENA news agency reported. A canal official said that by Wednesday, operations had returned to normal. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to brief reporters."

The process of reconstruction, of rising from the ashes, of overcoming the trauma of having been deceived, exploited and manipulated - is drawn-out. It is difficult to trust again, to have faith, to love, to be led, to collaborate. Feelings of shame and guilt engulf the erstwhile followers of the narcissist. '"The president is going to act," said Biden, ... "here are executives orders, ... We haven't decided what that is yet. But we're compiling it all with the help of the attorney general ..."
Biden talked also about taking responsible action. "As the president said, if you're (sic) actions result in only saving one life, they're worth taking.'

Is Biden talking about the same attorney general that ran Fast and Furious and the same president that watched Benghazi blow up while denying support?

OK,one more.Indulge me,nothing about my fave CBC.

I found this link at BCF . It was posted by 'dogwonder'.

Clayton Kennedy is interviewed by the APTN. It is very good. The interviewer is professional and is obviously not worried about being labelled 'racist'. Clayton comes across as either wasted on oxy, or very hungover. He is not sharp or alert. He is not intelligent.

In the article,a few things that I never knew. Clayton was part of the band management about 10 years ago. He lost/left his position and then returned in July 2010,when he was chosen by Chief Theresa and council to look after the band's finances.

The APTN,IMHO,is not impressed with Theresa and her boytoy.
The sidebar at the end of the article is priceless. Clayton assures everyone that the $31,000 collected for the 'hunger strike' is all above board.

He says " “I have the spreadsheets, I have the documentation, if anyone is worried,”.
