Nancy and Ann Wilson perform Stairway To Heaven for legendary British rock band Led Zeppelin, at the Kennedy Center Honors. And a darned fine job they do of it, too.

Your tips in the comments.

Wow... that was close

" U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton continued to recover from a medical close call Tuesday night – what has now been revealed to be a potentially life-threatening blood clot that doctors said they found in time."

to be continued.

And a darned fine job they do of it, too.

Yes, tainted only by that brief shot of the Wookiee and her zero in the audience.
.

That's a pretty good cover of Stairway, but personally I'm not a big Led Zeppelin fan.

For "classic rock" I could go for something like this:

Firth of Fifth by Genesis

Good grief, bruce wayne riley. You left off the sarc tag. Being shot at from 600 yards and missing by an 1/8" is a "medical close call". Drinking to much vino, using to much bleach on your hair, and falling down is not.

And no. Nancy and Ann are not even close to LZ. But then again, the limeys thought the Spice Girls where hot.

An even more apt rendition. http://vimeo.com/31721591

Nice...although Mooch and the Narcissist seemed unimpressed...

Hey guys just bought a book called bloodlands by tymothy snyder .

Your thoughts are appreaciated . so far really good read i am a novice reader but i am interestd in this book!!

Please tell me if you have read it and what you think!

@ Paul:

Desperately depressing - one of the most disturbing books I have ever read - makes you realize fascism and communism come down to the same thing. It also illuminates the hatred the Soviets had for the Poles.

Don't you mean Nancy and Ann Willson perform Taurus for legendary British cover band Led Zeppelin?

Adding the choir and the string section elevated this version quite a bit, but I still prefer the original, closely followed by Heart's cover version in the mid 70's.

Well said, martywd. VERY well said.

michael st. paul's, agree. I am just about finished the book and it is sickening. However a lefty might say it was a period of progress.

A poll on http://www.sunnewsnetwork.ca/ needs some help as the social media brigade appears to be hijacking the poll.

Kate, not sure why, but I keep getting a "back" message after using the captcha codes. Sometimes two or three times. Rarely does a comment go through the first time. Seem to have better luck with the "preview" captcha code. My eyes are not that bad that I cannot make out the letters and numbers.

Back when Ann was hot:

I find the video much more enjoyable when listening to the audio only. Images of celebrities fawning over each other makes me violently ill.

Obama Linked Benghazi to Video 3 Days After CIA Eyewitnesses Confirmed No Protest There

http://cnsnews.com/news/article/obama-linked-benghazi-video-3-days-after-cia-eyewitnesses-confirmed-no-protest-there

"A Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee report, which was completed on Sunday, Dec. 30 and first obtained by Fox News on Dec. 31, reveals new information about the aftermath of the Benghazi attack—including when those working for the CIA and State Department in Benghazi gave their definitive eyewitness accounts of what had happened there on Sept. 11.

None of the CIA or State Department eyewitnesses said there had been a demonstration of any kind.

"On Sept. 21, three days after Obama appeared on Letterman, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton unambiguously stated that "what happened in Benghazi was a terrorist attack." But, the committee report notes, three days after Clinton's statement--and nine days after CIA eyewitnesses said there had been no protest in Benghazi--Obama declined to make a "definitive" statement on "The View" about what had happened in Benghazi."

Hillary will never recover from her 'illness', no matter what the doctors say.

batb, from what I hear, with regard to the sperm donor being forced to provide fiscal support, it isn't the 'lesbians' who are insisting on this support; it's the city.

The women want to obtain welfare! The city is trying to prevent this use of the taxpayer money and insisting that a parent support the child. So, heh, they are going after the sperm donor who of course has zilch involvement as a parent.

A bit like going after a thief wearing a wig and going after the donor of the hair for that wig as 'causal'.

As for Obama and Benghazi, he's covering something up and Hillary will never testify. Notice that Obama said 'we'll get the guys that did this'. Result? Nothing. Nothing. Nothing.

Just like Sandy; it was a great photo-op but Obama did nothing to help them.

Washington is a wreck, and the fearless secretary of state seems like the only one with her head in the game. No wonder that medical scare left us with a case of the jitters

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/01/02/hillary-angst.html

"The idea of losing Hillary has seemed especially unbearable at this political moment. It’s as if she has become, literally, the ship of state. She stands for maturity, tenacity, and self-discipline at a time when everyone else in Washington seems to be, in more senses than one, going off a cliff—a parade of bickering, blustering, small-balled hacks bollixing up the nation’s business. She’s a caring executive too, and that takes its own emotional toll. What a disgrace that John Bolton and his goaty Republican ilk accused Her Magnificence of inventing a concussion to get out of testifying at the Benghazi hearings. Bolton is not fit to wipe her floor with his mustache."

Unbelievable........

ET, I realize it's not the lesbians going after the sperm donor but the state; apparently, however, the lesbians and their donor didn't go through the proper legal channels to do the surrogate donor thing, which is why the donor is liable for parental support.

I don't know. When you start screwing around (pun intended) with parenthood, with "unattached" sperm being donated, etc., etc., I think you're asking for trouble. I'd like to know what "significant illness" one of the lesbian parents has that has meant she can no longer work and why she and her partner are asking the state to cover the health insurance costs of their three-year old daughter.

This biological father's being asked for child support is just one of many possible unintended consequences of this brave new world of revolving-door parenthood.

IMO, this little girl is deserving of a mother and a father; all children are deserving of a mother and a father whom they can recognize as their parents. All of this fooling around with surrogacy and donated sperm may work, occasionally, for the grownups (sic) but it hardly ever works out well for the child/ren.

Bruce Wayne Riley, heh, nice quote. But, will Her Magnificence testify? I claim that she won't.

Oh, and His Magnificence, Obama, doesn't take kindly to others being in the spotlight and being given 'magnifying names'. It's Him, Him, all the way. And no Other.

By the way, didn't Hillary openly declare that Benghazi was caused by a video? Didn't she say something to that effect at the Dead Fish (as someone called Obama) ceremony when they brought the bodies back? And didn't she, and His Magnificence, post their own video, apologizing all over the place for that video, in Pakistan?

So, she won't testify. And Obama will never catch 'the bad guys who did it'. And he's now going to focus his, ..I mean..His, attention of further enlarging his electoral base by amnesty for all illegals. So there.

One more comment on revolving-door parenting and the lesbians' asking the state to cover their daughter's health insurance costs: They're essentially asking the state -- the taxpayers -- to bear the father's financial responsibility because they chose not to have a father for their child.

I'm not sure taxpayers should be held responsible in this case.

One does tire of the government -- that is, the taxpayer -- having to step into these sticky situations in order to bail people -- who have made certain, brave-new-world choices -- out.

"China's Great Famine: the true story"

"The famine that killed up to 45 million people remains a taboo subject in China 50 years on. Author Yang Jisheng is determined to change that with his book, Tombstone"

"Small and stocky, neat in dress and mild of feature, Yang Jisheng is an unassuming figure as he bustles through the pleasantly shabby offices, an old-fashioned satchel thrown over one shoulder. Since his retirement from China's state news agency he has worked at the innocuously titled Annals of the Yellow Emperor journal, where stacks of documents cover chipped desks and a cockroach circles our paper cups of green tea.

Yet the horror stories penned by the 72-year-old from this comforting, professorial warren in Beijing are so savage and excessive they could almost be taken as the blackest of comedies; the bleakest of farces; the most extreme of satires on fanaticism and tyranny.

A decade after the Communist party took power in 1949, promising to serve the people, the greatest manmade disaster in history stalks an already impoverished land."

Unfortunately, maz2, there will probably be a fairly quick solution to that problem, with or without government "assistance". To the best of my knowledge, Greece does not have enough forests to provide fuel for any significant portion of her population. And the trees that DO grow there do not tend to mature rapidly enough to replenish any significant cutting. They may be "eating their seed corn", as it were.

Pretty sure most SDA readers watch SunTV, so this may be familiar, but Ezra puts together another great piece of investgative journalism (the REAL stuff) with his bang-on 'commentary' about Cheif Spence and her media game.

Good one .... I'd never have guessed that anyone would ever know about that bit of musical flotsum.

Although there seems to have been a certain cultish resurrection of interest in Spirit's music the puplic never knew who they were. Randy California's guitar licks are ALL original .... unlike certain pop celebrities.

I think Chrissy Hynde or Joan Jett would have done the song more justice.

ET, you are bang on, I cannot for the life of me understand the apathy and the ho hum the media exhibits towards Benghazi and Fast and Furious. It boggles the mind.
