The book on Scientology is written by Larry Wright, whose book 'The Looming Tower', a history of Al Qaeda, is, in my view, a masterpiece of information and analysis.

I presume he's done the same with Scientology.

Not directly related to this article but interesting nonetheless.

The President should call for a national conversation on assault "trains"

Isn't scientology the Hollywood self-love religion writ big? I certainly can understand how it's taking off in eastern editorial offices.

I don't see a problem here. They are a private company and should be able to publish whatever they choose. It is their customers and their bottom line.

I'm not sure that ANYBODY, wallyj, is calling for the government to do ANYTHING about that advertorial. It would seem that the disdain is instead directed at Atlantic's editors and managers for putting such an article under the camouflage of "news".

Translation: "Hey, we have standards, you know! True, they're low standards, BUT WE HAVE SOME!"

All I know is, James Fallows is a useless lying knob.

So if useless lying knob James Fallows is upset, I'm happy.

Faster please!

Scientologists tried to brainwash me! Well, they used to call every six month or so because they were "updating their list" and somebody with my name was on it. I welcomed the chance to unload my jaundiced view of scientology on a real live member, plus I was generally annoyed by this waste of time. (They usually kept insisting I was the guy they wanted!)
After these encounters I'd get hang-up calls for about six or seven days. I got a laugh out of people who were attempting to master human consciousness, but couldn't resist harassing somebody with childish stuff like that. If I lived closer to Toronto I suspect they would have knocked on my door and hid behind a tree.

Hahahahahahahahahah..............

I had a scientology recruiter screaming at me when I was only 20 yrs old. That was a fun day.

Anyone ... and I do mean ANYONE who can't see through these creeps and their hald baked con freekin deserves to mocked .... mocked ........ and mocked. Until they crawl up in a fetal position and perish in a pool of their own excrement.

Half Baked...........
