My Share Of The Task - General Stanley McChrystal In early March 2010, General Stanley McChrystal, the commanding officer of all U.S. and coalition forces in Afghanistan, walked with President Hamid Karzai through a small rural bazaar. As Afghan townspeople crowded around them, a Taliban rocket loudly thudded into the ground some distance away. Karzai looked to McChrystal, who shrugged. The two leaders continued greeting the townspeople and listening to their views. |

About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

The real story of the Afghan conflict will probably never be written - unless the CIA have a whistle blower reveal how that agency has virtually run foreign policy and the wars in the ME. Remember the US and allied forces in Afghanistan were under the command of CIA field operatives. CIA directives were the reasons the opium poppy production was never tampered with and the war was made unwinnable. The real warriors over there who had to endure this losing policy have my empathy.
EVERY story comes out -- eventually
National Guard friend of mine taught opium poppy guards how to fire hand held rockets and other top of the line tech. weapons.
Drug monies buy only the best trucks, helicopters and weapons.
They were rarely attacked because even the Taliban got a cut from the billions of dollars of drug trade,
And they wouldn't dare piss off an Afghanistan Drug Lord.
(During the Afghan War the South East Asian drug trade went broke)
My friend made S Sgt. pay $30,000 per year,
Opium truck drivers were making over $40,000.
WAR IS HELL,
and we will never leave Afghanistan.
"Just say no."
Nancy Reagan
Generals being relieved of their commands for supposed lapses of the most mundane kind being publicized while the MSM happily suppresses the murky deaths of an ambassador and others at the hands of America's deadliest enemies while they were all involved in carrying out some of the strangest activities imaginable.
The general's been in the news for something else lately too:
http://www.politico.com/story/2013/01/mcchrystal-backs-gun-restrictions-85888.html
The Poppy business angle is interesting fearless leader. I recently learned that Tasmania in Australia is the place where all poppies for medical purposes are grown. Tasmania is on fire - Bloomburg says cut out pain killers in hospitals.
Things that make me go hummm?
Dakota Meyer doesn't have much good to say about McChrystal and his ilk. He listened to the Afghans, maybe he should have tried listening to Americans.
Like a bad surgeon, many of his mistakes are buried.
