We've long known about Internet Addiction but this is ridiculous!

Well, you do have to admit it was a creative way of getting internet access.

From what I've heard from most of my teenaged patients, their parents have given up trying to keep them off the internet at night. OTOH, if they're on the internet they're not watching TV but most teens seem to use the internet for IRC and are unlikely to be exploring various ways of solving differential equations during their nocturnal netsurfing. If teens are into programming or hacking, such nocturnal activities should be encouraged. After all, there are enough boring classes in school where one can catch up on sleep.

No different in principle from what we used to do using a flashlight to read a book under the covers although I'd wait till my parents went to sleep naturally before getting into my late night reading.

ya know...the MSM basically called the parents out by titling their news story as: Too Strict parents force teens to spike drinks for online access.

They are in many ways supportive of this anti - parent anti-family progressive mentality by making headlines as above.

AND the amount of anger at the parents who should have let their little darlings do whatever they pleased absolutely astounded me. Seems to me we could use a hell of lot more "strictness" with this current group of pampered little $hits. Good on the mom/dad for having them charged...welcome to reality kiddies. You don't like the rules - the flipping door is right there - avail yourself of its function.!

Makes me puke all the crying and complaining and support for the poor little darlings.
