The National Post has learned;
… that before sending the bribe, GEI enlisted former Canadian prime minister Jean Chrétien to help advance its interests in Chad.
Mr. Chrétien is counsel for Heenan Blaikie, one of Canada’s largest and most prestigious law firms. He sometimes meets with foreign officials to promote companies that his firm represents. Heenan Blaikie has in recent years been focused on mining ventures in Africa.
Neither Mr. Chrétien nor anyone else at Heenan Blaikie has been accused with participating in the crime, which began Aug. 30, 2009 and ended with the illicit $2-million payment on Feb. 8, 2011. Neither Mr. Chrétien nor Heenan Blaikie is named in the court case’s agreed statement of facts. Rather, they are identified as a “high-level” official and a “Canadian law firm,” respectively.

Was the deal written on the back of a cocktail napkin?
Was the deal written on the back of a c0ckt@il napkin? (And your sp@m filter might be a bit overzealous, Kate.)
I also hope trucks weren’t involved.
Libranos and brown envelopes of cash…who knew?
I have nothing against bribing foreign governments or maybe even our own government. Corruption can be a necessary tool for disabling Leviathan. Opening up Chad to outside investment is pretty worthy.
Chretien = Desmarais = Power Corporation = Total Petroleum
At times like this one must remember Kinsella claims Chretien is Canada’s best prime minster, ever!
The liberal party is the political vehicle for globalist “insider trading and nepotism” (think Moe Strong if you are wondering what this term means). They were essentially, a brokerage cartel trading political influence for (figuratively) fat brown envelopes. Every corporate welfare bum, green tech scammer or monopolist who wants to buy political trade protection, inside advantage, procure a lush public funded sinecure or score a fat government contract for shoddy goods has “brown-nosed” the Libranos. Patronage appointment, favor brokering, contractor/vendor kickback, conflict of interest and purchasing loyalty/silence was established Librano MO. Ad scam was just the tip of the iceberg. One of our nation’s great shames is that the bulk of the grafting scum attached to Canada’s brokerage party remain unprosecuted and unincarcerated. Corruption was deep in the Librano era.
Can you imagine what they will do behind the back of a blindfolded naive boy-leader like JT? The fact is, Liberal power brokers believe the population to be witless herd animals with defective memories, they never accepted the fact that voters placed them in political purgatory BECAUSE of their corrupt ways and the many scandals that dogged them. They always believed we were “tricked” by a better “trickster” and that they can “trick” their way back to power (and business as usual Librano style) if they can mass market some PET clone pop star figure head and “trick” politically naïve young people into empowering this corrupt political cabal. They just may be right.
The right anaylsis Occam, we all know how corrupt these libranos are. Here in Alberta we had in 2003 a groundswell of separation sentiments happening, I left a meeting around May 15 2003 thinking something like NEP might happen if this movement gets any stronger, shazam on May 20th Alberta had its first case of BSE on a dead end road in northern Alberta where there are about 10 percent of the Alberta cattle herd. I am reminded of that fact as I read this artice in the Nat Post on librano corruption. 10 years later Japan has finally opened its borders totally to Alberta beef, I often wonder where that disease came from out of the blue, on a dead end road, at a Louisiana catfish farmer turned Alberta ranchers, ranch.
Wasn’t the form Liberal Party president involved as a lawyer for Ornge?? It’s like one big ole incestuous party. NP closed the comments, why am I not surprised.

“Perhaps there were a few million dollars that might have been stolen in the process. ” — Jean Chretien about adscam.
The hypocritical lefties and the immoral media will not care too much about this criminal act by Chretien. But if it was Mulroney and a shyster like Schrieber, they would be in heaven as they ran with it for months and months.
Was Chretian a “high level official” at that time. I thought he had retired to take advantage of …….
Nice province you got here, Alberta. Be a pity if something were to happen to its beef industry.
Cbc has an article up on the story. The name Chretien does not appear in it.

The G&M mentions Chretien but does not implicate him in the scam.
I wanna find some of those Chretien golf balls so I can put them to good use in the next federal election. I’ll shoot some through the window of the liberal candidate’s office window. Or……I’ll wait for their party leader to make an appearance on the campaign trail in my area and either shoot them at him directly or put a few through the windows of his/her/it’s campaign bus. Yup, I’m bad that way.
