David Cameron’s Britain

Where the foxes caper unmolested, the government packs your school lunch, and “use of insulting language will no longer be illegal in cases in which a specific victim cannot be identified”.

In a government climb down, the Public Order Act that covers speech and writing on signs and states: “A person is guilty of an offence if he uses threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour”, will be changed to remove the word insulting. The move follows a high-profile campaign which united Christian and secular groups and was spearheaded by the comedian Rowan Atkinson, the human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell and the former shadow home secretary David Davis.
The push to change section five of the act followed a series of headline-grabbing arrests and prosecutions ranging from an Oxford student asking a police officer “Do you realise your horse is gay?” which Thames Valley police described as homophobic and “offensive to people passing by”, to a 16 year old holding up a placard that said “Scientology is a dangerous cult”.

God save the Queen.

  1. “…”A person is guilty of an offence if he uses threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour”, will be changed to remove the word insulting. …”
Oh well, insulting is pretty well covered by abusive.
They went for a cosmetic change that won’t rein in the petty arseholes, instead of scrapping the legislation.

  2. Well, at least they are trying to stop.
Anyone have a good recipe for lemming pot pie ?
    dwright

  3. Here’s your recipe:
    2 dozen lemmings
1/2 pound Acapulco Gold with appropriate accessories
2 Wholly Wholesome Organic Whole Wheat 9″ Pie Shells
Unwrap pie shells and place in middle of floor.
    Roll and light one spliff.
Let loose the lemmings. Enjoy their antics with the pie shells while you choom away.
Or was that not the type of pot pie you were looking for?

  4. Should be safe for Piers Morgan to go back home, in spite of insulting Larry Pratt on the telly. “You’re an unbelievably stupid man, aren’t you?”
    Oh, the illegal wiretaps …

  5. “On the other hand the view expressed by many in the police is that Section 5 including the word ‘insulting’ is a valuable tool in helping them keep the peace and maintain public order.”
Funny, but only two generations removed, they’ve become the Nazis.
    Cheers to Rowan Atkinson.

Do I trap them or shoot them.
Nevermind, bullet holes ruin the floor.
Peanut butter works best—whoops they are trying to ban that as well.
dwright (these control freaks need to stop, before we stop them)
Ps- Yes Mark I was being clever, something about cliffs.

  7. Britain is the globalist model for bureaucratic oppression of a population which other statist socialists in the Anglosphere want to emulate. Australia is attempting to roll out this UK model now and New Zealand has as well.
You can be assured if another transnationalist left regime take power in Ottawa, Canadians will be subjected to this bureaucratic/regulatory tyranny eroding their civil liberty and individual rights as well. You must become of the global “tranquilized” collective – or be crushed and destroyed by the new oppressive legal system which enforces leftist cultural fascism.
Let’s be aware and honest about what we are facing here. This is the new statist left agenda to impose their ideological dogma on the population. It is meant to replace your reason, your personal values and ideologies, any spiritual values you may have and even your sense of worth and self preservation – and it is to be conformed to without question, dissent or deviation. It will be enforced by arbitrary star chamber legal systems, remorseless regulatory regimes and dogmatic misanthropic enforcers who will define law and the rules via situational dystopianism (much as we see now with 2 tiered political arbitrary policing). The new left’s attitude towards free speech, free thought, free mobility, civil liberty and many individual freedoms is that the majority is not worthy of using them in accordance with the statist left’s utopian constructs. This is “too much” freedom. Absolute, inalienable freedom leads to social decay (AKA diversity of thought which dissents from statist left political dogma). This is a very real aggressive and unreasoning new left ideology/agenda, and it shares a great deal of militant statist authoritarianism with radical Islamism in that it is a form of cultural fascism and bureaucratic tyranny.
If you want a prime example of what I’m calling attention to, you need do no more than review the interviews Levant has with any leftist fanatic – they espouse all the logical fallacies which justify their belief in cultural tyranny being “justice” (i.e. damaging, destroying, oppressing their ideological opponents simply for their beliefs). The transnational left ruling class have adopted much of this unreasoning dogma because it gives justification for establishing a globally controlled cultural tyranny based in delusional revisionism and imagined injustices. For them the demented dogmatists of political correctness provide fallacious justification for crafting population control systems.
Ultimately the culture war is about controlling people. Control of your speech, thoughts, actions and property through state regulatory intimidation. It’s coming to a legislature near you, and as you have seen amply demonstrated, it is overtly perfidious and it can’t be reasoned with – so formulate your resistance accordingly. Personally I’ve always believed the best defense is a focused unrelenting offence where unreasoning belligerence are concerned.

  8. Occam, this is exactly what Barbara Kay was talking about or alluding to in the articles she wrote about the attempt to squelch Trinity Western University’s law discipline accreditation and linked by nv53 in last evening’s Reader Tips.

  9. I was going to say this was at least a start but demured.
    It isn’t!
In fact it only serves to entrench the bogus notion that insulting a specific “victim” should be criminalized.
Hate speech is a thought crime.
Thought should never be criminalized for being expressed.
Thought should only be criminalized when it expressly advocates violence, and even that’ a slippery slope.

  10. Ken I plead innocent to plagiarizing BK’s observations – maybe we had similar objective opinion of the new left. I never read it but I will have to now.
You are correct about the point men of new left dogmatism have a malicious loathing any religion/church/spirituality. They go after organized religious institutions like foaming jackals, using every devious regulatory mechanism available to them. They loath religion because it prevents them from substitution their leftist authoritarian technocratic ideology for spirituality in the common citizen. They actual hate anything that stands between the state and the individual that may divide his loyalties ( family, church, marriage, peer group cohesion, individual rights) – they want his mind and body completely exploited by their ideology and the state.

  11. Occam: Great posts.
I don’t think Ken (Kulak) was accusing you of plagiarizing.
He merely pointed out parallel observations from BK.
Too bad about BK’s son. I keep wondering if there’s some mum-hatred in operation there.

  12. Mr. Bean my grandmother. This is Cameron throwing the rabble a few bones to keep any more of his base from defecting to UKIP, and they sick to the back teeth of coddling Muslims who can’t handle the truth about the false prophet Muhammad.
Offering the plebs 200 lei won’t work, David. Neither will this referendum nonsense—Ulster never got one on the Good Friday Agreement to sell her to Sinn Fein, and everyone knows England will never get one on the EU if there’s any chance they’ll vote to leave.
Deal with the problem and only the problem—withdraw from the EU and expel the Muslims from Britain—or stand aside and let Nigel Farage do it for you.

  13. Occam, sorry if I left that impression. I did not mean to suggest you were plagiarizing. I was just pointing out, as MND suugests, that yours and BK’s thoughts were in agreement.

  14. the pill that will cure the leftist disease is made of lead, that’s why the lefties love gun control, it makes their job of subverssion so much easier!!!
Camoron is like most of the rite-wing euroPEE’ns, left of K Marx, she’s gonna be a long haul back to sanity for this world

  15. Sad it is. I who remember the Defence of the Realm Act in WW2. For it was posted in a framed poster at the bottom of my road. That who speaks in a critical manner of the war and who spreads rumours could face six months imprisonment. It is said no one was ever charged.

The gingery little begger, Herbert Morrison, a leading socialist was taken into the government as part of the coalition government. Never elected to power though. He wanted to shut down a newspaper for publishing a cartoon deemed to decry the war effort. It showed a ragged sailor stretched on a raft. The headline was meant to chide those who complained at the cost of petrol. This when merchant seaman lads were dying on the seas, to supply the UK.

A young socialist, Michael Foote stood off Morrison. News reels show him trembling as he defended free speech. He thought the police were coming for him. He and the newspaper was reprieved, but the paper toed the line thereafter. Came the war’s end and free speech was reinstated. The thunder of the post-war elections is still with me. People getting up at the town hall and jolly well telling someone off. Never a dull moment and no stupid violence.

Persons were told that the war was fought not only to defeat Hitler, but to enable English people to be able to speak freely. What has happened to my native country? As for the politically correct ninnies both in England and Canada pox on them – or view Sun Media.
