Dag nab it,that boy got my toes-a-tappin with his vulgar tongue.
On today’s edition of cbc’s “Power and Politics”,holy Hanna Thibedeau was at her teasing best. She tempted all with this ” Also, the acting chief of Attawapiskat was in town today with a message for Chief Spence, take a look.”,and then BAM,cut to commercial.
One of the producers caught this in time. There was a lengthy commercial break, during which she was likely threatened to be beaten into a burqa if she ever strays again.Though I don’t think she strayed on purpose, she is a hard-core Harper -hater.She quite likely forgot that talking to people from Attawapiskat about the problems in Attawapiskat was taboo.
It was never mentioned again for the rest of the program. For those who may not know, likely because only APTN and Sun News have aired it,the acting-chief was bringing down a band resolution that ordered her back to the reserve or she would lose her position. It was signed by all 18( ten plus another eight, not a typo)council members.
The chief that was willing to lay her life down for her people ,would not lay down her pay cheque.
Hannah’s tease is at the 1:14:50 mark. http://www.cbc.ca/player/News/Politics/ID/2328968697/
An acquaintance of mine posted this on her Facebook page:
To BC taxpayers: The $285 million film and TV tax incentive is a REBATE not a subsidy. Until two years ago, about $1.2 billion in revenue was generated annually which meant the industry injected almost $1 billion into the provincial economy every year. Because the current Government has refused to remain competitive with other provinces, most productions no longer shoot in BC which has slashed revenue into the economy to PRACTICALLY NOTHING and created massive unemployment. Understand that BC taxpayers are NOT SAVING $285 million. That is 285 million in rebates that we would have been given from taxes collected on productions. So right now they get nothing of nothing and in reality we are all LOSING the nearly billion dollars of taxable revenue that was invested in the local economy every single year. Please join us in supporting We Create BC.
To the BC film and television industry: Please post a version of this statement and encourage your BC-based Facebook friends to share so we can continue to generate public support.
Now, while one can debate the pros & cons of a government doing what it can to attract TV & Movie productions to its jurisdiction, I think it’s very disingenuous to pretend that such monies are not subsidies. Of course they are! Perhaps this new campaign depends on the vapid nature of the Math-Is-Hard crowd?!
Remember the federal spending cuts that were budgeted? Never happened. Admin costs ate them up.

Remember the great drive against Red Tape at the federal level? Another Tory fraud.
What was the saving from these initiatives, which Mr. Clement declared were part of “one of the most far-reaching red tape-cutting exercises in the world today?”
Twenty million dollars.
You may have to check my math, but that amounts to roughly 0.065% of the $31-billion regulatory burden.

Interesting. I hadn’t realized that BC was following the Saskatchewan example of tightening up on the giveaways to the movie biz. They too must be getting tired of the hands always being out, and the constant threat to “take our productions to greener pastures that will subsidize us more”. The drop in BC productions [if true] wouldn’t have anything to do with the Cdn dollar being stronger than the US$, or with the US unemployment rates meaning that people will work for less just to get work. And certainly the exorbitant tax rates on everything in BC can’t have anything to do with it.
Hey EBD, thanks if you don’t “get some Pat Boone on the Reader Tips.”
And why exactly did Albertans elect Redford?

Voters can be dumber than bricks.
No kidding!!! Look at what they did in the US. More to the point look at what they’re doing in the US.
OOOhhhh yah. Considering 2/3 of polled Canadians were happy Obama was re-elected , I would say bricks are smarter.
Here’s the comment one Leftard left, criticizing Adam Carolla’s famous anti-OWS rant:
WHY SHOULD MAIN STREET BAIL OUT WALL STREET AFTER WALL STREET LOSES ITS ASS PLAYING CRIMINAL MONEY CON GAMES????? AT LEAST MOST PEOPLE ON MAIN STREET WORK WITH THEIR HANDS TO MAKE THINGS…..THE SUITS JUST SHUFFLE NUMBERS ON A COMPUTER AND SCREW PEOPLE OUT OF MONEY
I left it precisely the way he wrote it. First off, I don’t trust the intelligence of anyone who writes in ALL CAPS or entirely in lower-case letters either. Lazy writing reflects a lazy mind. But more than that, how on earth can someone reasonably & logically portray the OWS crowd as “Main Street”. When I think of those two words I think of small business people and the people who work for them. OWS = Lazy Welfare Bums = Supporters of Big Government. Speaking of supporters of the Obama regime, I suspect that a lot of the less than ethical Wall Street folks are HUGE supporters of him.

“We Must Do Something About The Media”
In many ways, the leading example of women’s combat prowess is the Israeli Defense Force. As of late 2011, women made up three percent of the Israel Defense Forces’ combat soldiers (and 33 percent of the IDF overall). Israeli women, who are drafted, can serve in ten combat positions, including in artillery, field intelligence, and home-front search and rescue, and several infantry positions. But even still, like in many other nations, a good number of combat positions remain closed to them, including much of those on the front lines.

Whew!! It’s not just me. I’ve been walking around kind of dazed at what I’m seeing and hearing on the MSM News. Breitbart did have a plan and maybe Shapiro is just the guy to implement it. He’s one of the best that I have seen. Matter of fact I think that he scares the b’jasus out of them.
I guess you guys will have to ramp up narcotics production to make up for the shortfall.
The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U. S. Department of Agriculture, is proud to be distributing this year the greatest amount of free Meals and Food Stamps ever, to 46 million people.
Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U. S. Department of the Interior, asks us “Please Do Not Feed the Animals.” Their stated reason for the policy is because “The animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves.”
The Americans With No Abilities Act
President Barack Obama and the Democratic Senate are considering sweeping legislation that will provide new benefits for many Americans. The Americans With No Abilities Act is being hailed as a major legislative goal by advocates of the millions of Americans who lack any real skills or ambition.
“Roughly 50 percent of Americans do not possess the competence and drive necessary to carve out a meaningful role for themselves in society,” said California Sen. Barbara Boxer. “We can no longer stand by and allow People of Inability (POI) to be ridiculed and passed over. With this legislation, employers will no longer be able to grant special favors to a small group of workers, simply because they have some idea of what they are doing.”
In a Capitol Hill press conference, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid pointed to the success of the U.S. Postal Service, which has a long-standing policy of providing opportunity without regard to performance. At the state government level, the Department of Motor Vehicles also has an excellent record of hiring Persons with No Ability (63 percent).
Under the Americans With No Abilities Act, more than 25 million mid-level positions will be created, with important-sounding titles but little real responsibility, thus providing an illusory sense of purpose and performance.
Mandatory non-performance-based raises and promotions will be given to guarantee upward mobility for even the most unremarkable employees. The legislation provides substantial tax breaks to corporations that promote a significant number of Persons of Inability (POI) into middle-management positions, and give a tax credit to small and medium-sized businesses that agree to hire one clueless worker for every two talented hires.
Finally, the Americans With No Abilities Act contains tough new measures to make it more difficult to discriminate against the non-abled, banning, for example, discriminatory interview questions such as, “Do you have any skills or experience that relate to this job?”
“As a non-abled person, I can’t be expected to keep up with people who have something going for them,” said Mary Lou Gertz, who lost her position as a lug-nut twister at the GM plant in Flint, Mich., due to her inability to remember righty tighty, lefty loosey. “This new law should be real good for people like me. I’ll finally have job security.” With the passage of this bill, Gertz and millions of other untalented citizens will finally see a light at the end of the tunnel.
Said Sen. Dick Durbin: “As a senator with no abilities, I believe the same privileges that elected officials enjoy ought to be extended to every American with no abilities. It is our duty as lawmakers to provide each and every American citizen, regardless of his or her inadequacy, with some sort of space to take up in this great nation and a good salary for doing so.”
The tragic news that Wilfred Roby, an 80-year-old retired ambulance driver from Anglesey, died on Wednesday from a heart attack after being attacked by gulls in his back garden will surprise no-one who has been the victim of such an attack. Mr Roby’s death is the most extreme case in recent times, although last year there were reports of a woman being nearly “scalped” by the birds. Several dogs and cats have been killed by seagulls – actually herring gulls – which become over-protective of their young who are now leaving the nests. All along the western coast of northern England, seagulls are hungry. Most of the small towns dotted down the Solway Coast had fishing fleets and smaller fishing boats in every harbor, the gulls obviously had a feast and didn’t infringe so much upon the rest of the town. They do now, and they come into town and gardens looking for food..
I guess when Americans run out of food stamps they will attack people and steal from their gardens.
I think Biden, Holder and Obama will have to come take my Guns.
Law enforcement doesnt want them..
From Florida to California, a growing number of the nation’s sheriffs are standing up to gun control measures proposed by both the administration and Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.).
In New Mexico, 30 of the state’s 33 county sheriffs have reminded state lawmakers that they are under oath to support the U.S. Constitution, and that includes the Second Amendment.
28 of the 29 sheriff’s in Utah sent a letter to President Obama stating that they will not enforce any new gun laws they believe to be unconstitutional.
A host of Oregon sheriffs have said that they will not comply with any new unconstitutional gun regulations:
Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin said he would refuse to enforce any new Federal gun law he believes is unconstitutional.
In a letter to Vice President Joe Biden, Grant County Sheriff, Glenn Palmer writes: “I will not tolerate nor will I permit any federal incursion within the exterior boundaries of Grant County, Oregon, where any type of gun control legislation aimed at disarming law -abiding citizens is the goal or objective.”
Sheriff Gil Gilbertson of Josephine County told Biden in a letter: “Any rule, regulation, or executive order repugnant to the constitutional rights of the citizens of this County will be ignored by this office.”
Sheriff Tim Mueller of Linn County, Oregon says his department will not participate in any overreaching and unconstitutional federal firearms restrictions.
I never trusted HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy), partly because it made gazillion$ for Big Pharma and partly because I just knew that women didn’t need drugs to get us through menopause and that somewhere along the line, it was just plain bad for us.
Turns out, far from preventing heart attacks and strokes, taking HRT increases women’s risk of heart attacks and strokes.
New research has discovered another negative:
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/health-and-fitness/hormone-therapy-linked-to-dementia/article1213610/
Postmenopausal hormone therapy has been linked to brain shrinkage in women aged 65 and older, a pair of studies has found. … A WHI sub-study, which looked at memory and was dubbed WHIMS, showed that hormone therapies that used estrogen alone or combined with progestin increased the risk for dementia and cognitive decline in women 65 and older.
Unless women are homicidal or suicidal, they don’t need HRT and should refuse to take it if their physicians recommend it. I told my doctor to forget it. He thought I was crazy to refuse HRT’s “benefits” (sic) but I turned out to be right and he turned out to be wrong.

Some perspective from a tax accountant. The top personal rate in BC is 14.7% (Provincial only). Top corporate rate in BC is 10% (low rate is 2.5% provincial only). The activity generated would have to be about 2-3 times the size in order to justify the rebate at the level it is at. Long story short – it’s absolutely a subsidy, and one that is unjustifiable when your province is in a deficit. Glad that BC is removing it and glad that Saskatchewan got rid of ours too.
At a glance: Administrative Bloat in US Public Schools.
It’s all for the kids, eh?
In response to “Fearless Leader’s” post regarding the various non-supportive responses from Sheriffs around the country, I’m surprised I haven’t seen anything yet from my favorite Sheriff, Joe Arpaio, who is seldom short of words on such issues. I suspect that when he does comment, it will be along the lines of “Suck My Dick”.
Read the headline and then laugh at the blindingly obvious!

BREAKING NEWS!
Rob Ford stays on as Toronto’s Mayor.
You’re assuming that the movie industry is immobile. They are not and have left BC in droves so there’s no “subsidy”/rebate to give to them on the taxes they paid to BC because they did not pay any damn taxes in BC because they moved production elsewhere. Starting to understand mr accountant?
From David Mamet via Newsweek and the Daily Beast….
“The individual is not only best qualified to provide his own personal defense, he is the only one qualified to do so: and his right to do so is guaranteed by the Constitution.
President Obama seems to understand the Constitution as a “set of suggestions.” I cannot endorse his performance in office, but he wins my respect for taking those steps he deems necessary to ensure the safety of his family. Why would he want to prohibit me from doing the same?”

I wonder how many of these proud members know they are seen as useful idiots in a scheme bigger than they could ever imagine. I would guess very few.
Re Agenda 21, I’m shocked that my municipality hasn’t yet signed on. Shocked, I tell ya.
Like most local govt’s ours is all about ‘sustainability, re-cycling, neighbourhood gardens and climate change’. Oh and I almost forgot – property tax increases.
I note that when you click on the ICLEI Agenda 21 page, you get a ‘page not found’ return.

I’m aware, mr creeping death, that the movie industry is mobile. I would point out though that it’s not worth it for any jurisdiction to compete for film projects via subsidies. Better to leave those tax dollars in the pockets of the tax payers and entrepreneurs who will use the money to invest in their own projects – projects that don’t require subsidies and industries that generate the same amount of economic activity with ACTUAL increased tax dollars to the state.
No Guff, hhhhmmm, the site comes up for me, just fine.
Sounds as though your municipality has already succumbed.
