Happy Hanukkah to those who celebrate this holiday.

So this is my beef – Canadian money has become plug ugly!! I was at the LCBO and paid with a fiffy and told the seriously cute cashier that our money is ugly and she so plum agreed.
Fifties are a washed out red, 20’s a washed out green. Can’t says about the hunerds as i aint’s never seen one b4 – but i’m sure it’s wretched beyound what the english language can describe.
The designs are just so pedestrian and uninspired and the plastic feel gives me the dry heaves. Plastic. It’s not money.
I loved the old designs from the 70’s. 2 dollar bills with eskimoes, 5’s with the oil refineries etc.
So that’s my rant
From a radio interview in Australia;
”The wind industry is based on greed, ignorance, subsidy and institutional deceit. It’s propaganda rewards the greedy, flatters the gullible and exploits the well-intentioned.”

So many similarities to Ontario.
Happy Channukah!
agfent smith…the hundreds look like washed out brown dogsh1t!And I agree as to the feel.Crappy Tire money looks and feels better now.
So Planet S Magazine is currently having a “Which particular small Saskatchewan town full of rednecks did we take this picture in” contest on Facebook and deleting comments from people who aren’t amused by their liberal bigotry. Classy stuff.
I’ve felt for a long time that counterfeiting was a capital crime and should be punishable by death. It is the reason we can’t have money that is reasonable to handle. The new stuff does seem durable though.
Holiday Workout!
Holiday Workout!
It’s money, not pocket art. If you don’t like it, then don’t use it.
This look at some of Alan Bennett’s recent work – especially his 2004 play The History Boys (which was made into a movie in 2006) – strikes me as quite disturbing. Maybe Kathy Shaidle is right, and in a few years those deviant priests will be celebrated as misunderstood pioneers.
Fire. Them. All.

“CBC looks at starting “loyalty” program
Montreal Gazette – 6 hours ago
OTTAWA – The CBC is considering creating a customer “loyalty” program as it bleeds revenues from the NHL lockout and struggles with deep federal budget cuts.”
“The namby-pamby state has followed the recommendations of George Brock Chisholm, first director general of the World Health Organization, who, in a speech for the Conference on Education at Asilomar, California (September 11, 1954) advocating world government, advised: ‘it is necessary to remove from the minds of men their individualism, loyalty to family tradition, national patriotism, and religious dogmas.'”

I’m guilty of all of the above. No wonder it’s an uphill struggle.

Beloved leader Hugo Chavez has had a return of his cancer and requires an operation.
“With God’s will, like on the previous occasions, we will come out of this victorious. I have complete faith in that.”
I wonder who in Canada will conduct prayers for Mr.Chavez’s recovery,Trudeau or Mulcair?
@dmorris
Both.

Channukah-Toda Raba!!
The positive side of the CBC’s Loyalty program is….. it won’t cost them very much.
Looking like Hugo Chavez is getting his wish to be “President for Life”. He has issued a statement that his cancer is back and he won’t be lasting long. Any takers on a death date pool?
“With God’s will, like on the previous occasions, we will come out of this victorious. I have complete faith in that.”
God is on Mr.Chavez’s side,a d Bob, so he’ll be back in the swing of things fairly soon.
Don’t know if someone already posted it but it seems that Yahoo nowadays is publishing articles based on non existing studies which are done by non existing professors who teach in non existing schools.
Yahoo published an article with a title “Intelligence Institute Study shows Fox News viewers have an IQ that is 20 points lower than the U.S. National average.”
According to the article, the study is supposedly done by P. Nichols from The Intelligence Institute. The link given by Yahoo refers to t to the article in HuffPost which tells readers that “Study Finds Fox News Viewers Least Informed Of All Viewers”. And the study in the HuffPost article is done by “undergraduate school which is ranked as one of the worst in the country,”

“Despair after climate conference, but U.N. still offers hope”
“At the end of another lavishly-funded U.N. conference that yielded no progress on curbing greenhouse emissions, many of those most concerned about climate change are close to despair.
As thousands of delegates checked out of their air-conditioned hotel rooms in Doha to board their jets for home, some asked whether the U.N. system even made matters worse by providing cover for leaders to take no meaningful action.”

“Europe clings to scorched-earth ideology as depression deepens”
“Like the generals of the First World War, Europe’s leaders seem determined to send wave after wave of their youth into the barbed wire of tight money, bank deleveraging, and fiscal austerity a l’outrance.”
“The strategy of triple-barrelled contraction across a string of inter-linked countries has been the greatest policy debacle since the early 1930s. The outcome over the last three years has been worse than forecast at every stage, and in every key respect.
The eurozone has crashed back into double-dip recession. It will contract a further 0.3pc next year, according to a chastened European Central Bank. The ECB omitted mention of its own role in this fiasco by allowing all key measures of the money supply to stall in mid-2012, with the time-honoured consequences six months to a year later.
The North has been engulfed at last by the contractionary holocaust it imposed on the South. French car sales crashed 19pc last month, even before its fiscal shock therapy — 2pc of GDP next year. The Bundesbank admitted on Friday tore up its forecast on Friday. Germany itself is in recession.”
