  1. “Peterborough City Council said the solar farm would make £100million profit over 25 years that would be invested in ‘frontline services’.”
The Council has Merlin’s Crystal Ball … and shares in Windex.

  2. A solar plant in England? Seriously. How many bright sunshine hours do they get? 2000/yr? Ridiculous.

  3. I was already disinclined to sympathize with this guy just from reading the headline. If you want lovely views of unspoilt scenery around your home, buy all the land within view. If the land outside your window belongs to someone else, they get to do with it as they please. I think trying to power modern society with happy thoughts and pixie dust is idiocy, but if someone else wants to engage in idiocy on their own property, I’m reluctant to tell them they can’t.
And that was all before I read this quote…
“I am in favour of renewable energy but the council has tons of other land where they could build this farm.”
Screw you, dude. You’re perfectly happy seeing somebody else have to put up with industrial blight outside their window, as long as it’s not you? You’re perfectly content to see your government throw good money after bad on an obviously unworkable solution to a problem that doesn’t really exist, as long as you don’t have to look at it? Go pound sand.

  4. That long lane would be perfect for making lot’s of dust 🙂 Maybe use some powdered cement. A soil cement experiment gone awry. heh
If someone wants to make my property worthless, I would certainly do my best to return the favour.

  5. Ok let me get this right.
The concept is to cover acres of farmable land with solar panels.
This scheme is supported by the same mind set that took fits over the mass sprawl of urbanization and how it was literally taking food off our tables by ………… wait for it…………… using up farmable land.
This scheme is supported by the same mind set that is worrying about feeding the masses on the planet. Oh hang on no they aren’t. They support diverting the corn supply to bio fuels production. No no they don’t support us existing at all as we humans are a scourge on the planet and should be done away with.
Ok, so why the solar panels? Why not just let us burn out the fossil fuel supply faster? And get rid of the farm land by building big ranch style houses. We will be gone so much faster…………

  6. His pricey hut will make a nice site workshop/lunchroom for the panel dusters and
windmill greasers doing their preventative, and hopefully, lots of emergency maintenance.
He can wait to be expropriated or sell at a rock bottom price to some obscure fixer with
“better negotiating skills” and an influential relative among the greenie wolf pack running this scam.

  7. “Peterborough City Council said the solar farm would make £100million profit over 25 years”
    Kidding, right?
Seriously, how do they expect to profit £100 million in 25 years in an industry that can’t even stay afloat without massive government subsi…oh, right. Never mind.

  8. So I guess we can expect that Kate will be posting every time somebody is mad that a coal or gas plant is built next to their house? Or a dam floods people out of their homes and farms?
Nope. Cuz she hates teh solar and will look for any reason to bash it.
Yeah, this totally sucks for the guy. Frankly, I think he should probably get some compensation. But them I’m a big lefty.

  9. Dear Big Lefty: 500,000 solar panels will not replace even one coal or gas plant, as sometimes the sun doesn’t shine.
Does being a lefty actually mean a complete inability to do a cost benefit analysis?
This homeowner is a 47 year old retired water company engineer. Maybe he should take a look into one of those solar mirrors.
