In a just world, the first condition of the bailout would be the immediate firing of all city councilors including forfeiture of any pay or pension owing. Second step would be a complete forensic audit by the FBI of city expenditures and campaign contributions to said city councilors particularly by public sector unions.
We live in a very unjust world, especially so in the corrupt democrat run cities so I expect that a few billion Obamabucks will be spent to keep the harvest of votes rolling in. And some people wonder why there is talk of secession from the fiscally responsible states?

Democrat controlled Detroit is a lawless, corrupt, almost bankrupt city in the Democrat controlled state of Michigan in contrast to Democrat controlled Chicago which is a lawless, corrupt city in the Democrat controlled, almost bankrupt state of Illinois.
This will never happen in a million years, but I’d love to see Harper/Kenney offer some sort of one time “tax amnesty” or other enticement to successful Americans to encourage American success stories fed up with the Obama train wreck to come to a more welcoming climate in Canada.
What could be better for Canada than to encourage the 1%ers, who now have a permanent bullseye on their backs in the US, to come here and spread their success?

I doubt it, ct. Illinois has enough trouble of its own, and that of Chicago, that it has no intention of trying to fix the woes of a neighboring state’s city. Also probably a legal issue there, although Michigan would probably welcome their help.

Uh-CT. Detroit is in the state of Michigan. Illinois is indeed close by but they have no influence over Detroit’s situation. Recently the state of Michigan announced that it is considering taking over the city due to the godawful mess it’s in. And lest anyone doubt the mayor’s statement about burning it down, hell they already did that in the ’60’s.
We live about 60 miles from Detroit. No one but no one goes there except to the airport for cheap flights. Driving through on I-75 is enough to make you hurl.

I’ve been watching the tv show “Revolution” this year, and while the physics premise is ludicrous – electricity stops working, but gravity doesn’t? – the societal premise is prescient. We saw with Katrina and Sandy how quickly the looters appear if they believe the police can’t respond. When the Bambamphones stop working, and the gubmint cheques stop coming, things will be brutal indeed.

Detroit for the last 25 years has been a synonym for stupidity, corruption, and decay….. especially stupidity. It’s probably the most racist city in the U.S. It’s 99% black population is illiterate, ignorant, felonious, and dependent. And did I mention racist? JoAnn Watson is simply reflecting that racist attitude “You’re black, we’re black. We scratch your back, you scratch ours. Let’s stick to whitey. Give us money so that this dysfunctional city can continue its dysfunctional ways”.
