About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

Heh. I enjoyed that. And the animation/caricatures were spot-on.
Someone should be up for an industry award. I don't think I have ever seen a better example of the advertiser's craft. Entertaining, memorable, and all true!
Thanks Kate et al! Cheers;

Hans is that RPG unfired or is it ....
Never mind, LOL.
A Suburban with a Mini Gun, I would by that if the CIA doesn't want it anymore...

Gee, I wonder if Crazy Barry is related to Farmer Jones?
Dwright, I'd be interested in just the mini-gun myself. You know what kind of mileage an armored suburban gets?
Fair enough, otterdriver, about 4?
hea, heavy, I'd put that MG in something else...

So sad that the 'Vette is ,lumped in with that group. The only car I have ever owned by GM and I really liked it. Underpriced for what you get in comparison to other super-cars. The only model which has stood the test of time (exclude the C-4's where GM lost their minds...the first time)
Did you hear that Jeeps are going to be made in either China or Italy? Can't really decide which scares me more.
foobert, I remember meeting Farmer Jones, and I liked the guy; don't know if he is around any more; the dealership still is, though.
Guys in that business get an undeservedly bad rap, considered that what they are doing is about as close to unfettered capitalism as you can get in this country anymore. They buy used cars at auctions, clean them, doll them up a little bit, and try to resell at a profit. They simply cannot afford to fix every damn thing that is wrong their cars, and few of their cars will be free of flaws, because good cars don't go to the auctions in the first place. Nevertheless, their customers get their ass in the driver's seat of something that will mostly get the job done, which is a good deal for some young guy new to the city, no credit history, and no cash in the bank.
When I was in university, I spent a year working part-time for a very small dealer in the Farmer Jones mold. He was actually a hell of nice guy. I made a few bucks an hour fixing cars in his stock that had serious problems that made them unsaleable. Things like brake shoes down to the metal, or busted timing chain, bad water pump, etc. He got the iron moved, and I got few dollars in my jeans. When my sister needed a car, I asked him if he had anything that might suit her needs. He sold her a Toyota Crown station wagon, that other than being an oil hog, was very decent car, at his cost, which was about $300 as I recall. The Crown was the big, luxurious Toyota of the day, and it just would not sell off his lot, for some reason. They never were very popular. My sis drove that beast for several years, and it gave her very good service.
Crazy! Just crazy man!
I must make a quizzicle observation here.
I have long noticed that the right wingers, although full of moral rectitude, and rightly so, have the wickedess sense of humor. And I have also noticed that the left has absolutely no sense of humor, save the effluence of explitives.
Just who is winning the argument here ... he asks rhetorically.
Sooo effing troooo
