Reader Tips

In anticipation of what will be happening to much of North America in the coming months, tonight we take a look at a few past snow storms.

Indirectly related: Here's a great story about the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Besides demonstrating that real help often happens outside of government involvement, it also features a very good friend of mine.

Your positive or not so positive read tips are much appreciated in the comments.

There's a parallel analogy here to be seen in that these people don't use their common sense and realize that there is NO place to go and that sitting back and analyzing their predicament would be far more constructive than blindly trying to run the gauntlet of fate.

They are farther behind the eight ball than if they had just left their vehicles where they were and made other arrangments to get home.

They are now more inconvenienced and out of pocket to boot than having just stayed put till the city cleared the roads.

The analogy point was really juxtaposing this scenario onto last Teusday's election results and its ensuing effect on America's health.

I'm sure that must have been your point in the first place.

Most modern day people don't have the sense God gave a gopher.

I remember Xmas 1996 in Vancouver BC when the big dump imobilized the city and southern BC.The snow was deep and people who could never hope to go anywhere that day were trying to dig out and drive and most with summer tires.
I was down visiting my son in Marpole and we both just shook our heads in amazement at the shenanigans going on outside. I had driven down in a Ford crewcab 4x4 and all sorts of people were trying to flag me down to pull them out.
My answer was `where do you expect to go.
I also wasn`t in the market to pull somebody out and have them smash into me because they knew no better than to gun it.

According to the USGS, the quake that struck on October 27th near Haida Gwaii measured a magnitude 7.7 on the Richter scale, making it the third largest in Canada's history and was much more powerful than the 7.0 earthquake that levelled much of Haiti in 2010.

A magnitude 6.3 earthquake rattled BC on Wednesday (yesterday).

But, earlier this week, scattered reports began drifting in that the familiar cloud of steam over the island (known as Gandll K’in Gwaayaay in the Haida language) had disappeared.

A Parks Canada inspection party set out to investigate and stepped ashore to find that the island’s three main hot spring pools, which once bubbled with water as warm as 77 Celsius, were bone dry. “Not even a small puddle,” said Mr. Gladstone.

Surrounding rocks, once warm to the touch, were cold.

Old Duffer, I very much remember the "Big Dump" of December 1996! A dear friend of mine from Mexico was up here, along with her 7 year old son. It was a very, very special time for the city ... if people took the time to enjoy it.

This is not played much here in Canada. Chaos In Athens from RT, socialism's death throes are very nasty and ugly. http://rt.com/news/greece-austerity-bill-protests-144/

Re: Video of cars slipping on hill.

Looks like the sanding crew was over at the donut shop!!

Many were grateful that Hurricane Sandy helped Oblamer-Bush win the election,
Chris Matthews.. etc.

And I do believe in 'Acts of God.'

You think Sandy was bad?
just wait until the real storms and natural disasters begin.

Not to mention some terrorists attacks that might stun Oblamer-Bush.

Never forget, the Iranians now have a drone that can hit America.

Hang on to your hats,
its gonna be a wild ride and Oblamer-Bush will control the buck.

Robert, that's a good story.

If anyone is feeling unhappy, there's this:

Unless some one peeks over your shoulder (wife) and states, "sure hard to believe that they eat those cute dogs in some countries".
End of happy feeling.

I our last big power outage (4Days), I took people into my home, I always have a week of backup light, heat, and camp cook stove. Not a single worry.

"‘Unimaginable bravery’: How 700 Canadian soldiers defeated 5,000 enemy troops in the forgotten battle of Kapyong"

"A filmmaker who has revived the story of a pivotal, against-all-odds victory by Canadian soldiers in a 1951 battle in the Korean War says Kapyong should take its place alongside Vimy Ridge, Juno Beach and Queenston Heights in the annals of great Canadian military triumphs.

To be broadcast Friday as part of History Television’s Remembrance Day documentary series War Story, Kapyong: Forgotten Battle by Emmy-nominated director Barry Stevens features Canadian veterans recalling their terror as an entire Chinese division advanced toward them in April 1951."

I am gobsmacked, gobsmacked I tell ya!
Hillary Clinton has just announced she will step down as Sec. of State days after The Messiah's inauguration.
I can't for the life of me understand why???

Rick I thought that was already very well known for over a year now.

If you ever encounter this man punch him repeatedly in the face. If he walks into your store refuse service. If he is sitting next to you in a bar or restaurant, urinate in his beer. If he winds up in your cell, well, do what you do best. He needs to suffer for a long, long time.

Kiel Rodgers is his name. If anyone has a pic of this trash please post it somewhere that many will see.

Staten Island resident William Boden interviewed by phone. Staten Island has been abandoned. No electricity, no gas, no heat. People without shelter, clothing, food, water. Staten Island is gone and will never come back. Obama and Bloomberg lied to us. Red Cross absent. Promised FEMA aid absent. No aid of any kind. People lost all personal possessions in flooded, wrecked houses."

Michael Mann blows a few toes off in his defamation lawsuit against Mark Steyn and the National Review by fraudulently claiming to be a Nobel Prize winner.

I wonder if someone could graph the recent increase in climate scientists fraudulently claiming to be Nobel Prize winners?
You know, make it easier for us deniers to visualise it?
It might be funny if that graph turned out to be hockey stick shaped....
