O, Sweet Saint Of San Andreas

Hear my prayer;

Yesterday, the looters and moochers of the Golden State voted for Prop 30, a measure to significantly boost both the state sales tax and also hike income tax rates on investors, entrepreneurs, and small business owners.

Get out while you still can, Mr. Galt.

California: America's tomorrow.

Let's gather the wealthy European entertainers and name where they have moved their money to; i will start the question with;
ABBA (which is my generation)from Sweden to ?
or Bono from Ireland to ?

Wonder where the Hollywood group starts to move their money out; Cheers

Galt will probably stay, but quit his job as an engineer at the TCMC. Maybe take a job as a track wiper on a railway? (As long as he gets his 1 month vacation, he'll stay till the very last moment.)

Then again, maybe that time has finally come.

MikeSr, I wonder that, too.

It is my hope that the governor of that blighted state will somehow prevent them from moving their wealth outside of California. Let them scrounge like the rest of the proles, those filthy "one percenters"!

The time has come for internal passports and travel restrictions!

Well, except for illegal immigrants. They can still come and go at whim. Don't wanna seem racist, y'know.

California is the crack addict of the United States, just looking to get enough for the next hit regardless of the cost. Will have to visit Disneyland soon while it's still operating there, hope they have a back-up location in mind somewhere in the mid-west.

My wife and I were in Northern California two weeks ago and saw far to many old people (our age) begging for food. Late last night we got a text message from an American friend asking; what the hell is happening to our world"?
What a very sad series of events and I suspect it will get far worse!

I've been to San Francisco/belly of the beast twice: once when I was a kid and once when I was an adult. I gotta say that both times I left thinking why do people live here? This was early July and it's cold. Everything is expensive.

There's just nothing redeeming about it even as a tourist. I paid $50 a day for parking not kidding. That's the going rate for parking in downtown San Fran. The traffic is horrendous since they chose not to rebuild the highways that collapsed in the earthquake.

Anyway if it falls into the sea it will not be missed by me at all. Enjoy the decline.

America, having just voted a second term for the President of massive failure, now has its largest state making sure that no other lemming state beatsit to the sea.

Traffic flowing into Colorado from BC will dramatically increase-now that pot is legal for recreational use. New vacation spot for BCers-all year.

Lucky Lori: Ha. When they find out what taxes on consumption of their precious weed is like, they'll migrate right back to BC where it's ignored by the criminals in government.

Sometimes getting what you wish for is worse.

I can't see that; recreational use of marijuana in B.C. is now common and not prosecuted by police.

Galt's gone.

Actually a medical marijuana establishment was raided and shut down by the RCMP in BC just last summer.

I am stating that trafficking in pot will be much easier now-Washintonians already come across the border to buy BC pot-there will be a greater demand for product-there always is once something is legalized. BTW-cops in BC will arrest you for pot; especially if you're wanted for something else that can't be proven just yet. There is no recreational pot law on the books yet in BC, some have found out the hard way that the RCMP don't just turn a blind eye to possession.

Incredible. I mean, whatever you do, Cali, don't cut spending......

The stupidity of large groups of people is well demonstrated by what happened on Tuesday. When the majority of the electorate neither recognise that they are in a hole nor know the first rule of holes, it will not end well.

I wonder what actually happens when a country declares bankruptcy? When the US goes off the cliff and extends the debt ceiling, will China still lend them money? Will they just print more, thus cranking up inflation, which in turn will turn that $16T into 20-25T in a heartbeat, what exactly would be the result? Any economists have a thought? I'm really curious what would happen. I'm thinking this could be reality in 6-8 months but don't listen to me, I thought the American people were smart enough to see what was happening and elect Mitt Romney to clean up the mess. As if my wife needed a reason not to listen to me, this sealed the deal..

Californians are gambling that their saviour will bail the state out given a second term, and probably will if they can retake congress in 2 years. The Democrats like those 50 electoral votes and would not hesitate to steal the money from red states to keep it.

soon the USA will have to pay for its natural gas and oil in gold. no one will accept yankee dollars if the USA does drop into the big ditch.

The U.S should borrow more from China,and offer the State of California as collateral.

The Chinese probably aren't that naive though.

Talked to somebody a few days ago. Said that according to member of the legislature of BC, about 25% of the BC economy are drugs.
Added that they can’t afford to shut it down. Not so much that it would cost more to prosecute, rather because of the size of economic activity.

Poeple have to eat, sleep and be merry.

And the slide continues.

The tax increase was passed because the electorate were more concerned with other things. The referendum on whether or not porn actors should be required to wear condoms. You can always trust Californians to get their priorities right.

Lev;
Have you ever thought who is getting paid off here in B.C.? Down in Quebec they have a guy who took + $780,000 in bribes working for the City of Montreal. What is laughable is how many people in Canada simply think that happens only in Quebec.

After 9/11 the USA tightened up all border crossings and surprise they weren't finding bombs but plenty of drugs. Up my way it is estimated that 1/3 of the economy of Nelson is 'pot' income. After 9/11 the retail trade in Nelson was decimated, no money! Guess why. Today things are ticking right along in Nelson. Where is the pot going today and how is it getting there? It doesn't take rocket science to figure someone is being bought off. Law enforcement and politicans are enjoying the gravy train.

California is in pretty sad shape no doubt about that,but a little closer to home our pastey faced version of the Obumbler AKA Dalton McGuinty has Ontario in an even worse position.Ontario actually owes nearly as much money as California, but with only one third the population to pay the bills.Now toss in the highest electricity rates in North America and billions being wasted on giant fans and solar power.All this while they are reducing power production at Niagra and other Hydro dams because they are producing more that we can use.To make matters even worse the provincial Conservatives elect a leader with the political instincts of a cucumber,Ontario is well and truly screwed.

Look for the states that weathered the recession in the best shape to start whispering about seceding. In their eyes, why should they have to pay for the other states collective stupidity. Obama will have only 2 options, to ignore it or to come down with a hammer on them. Either way will just speed up the process of igniting another civil war.

Just look at some of the towns in the interior of BC. There is no industry at all, NOTHING and yet people seem to be doing just swell... Or hey look at how many employees at the port of Vancouver are members of the Hells Angels and how many pharmacies in BC are owned by them too. The mayor of Vancouver is allegedly a known grow op operator. The current premier of BC still uses dope.
