Blog Notes

I'm back, though my return to the blogosphere a little delayed. I got in at 2am yesterday, and woke up with a migraine that kept me in bed until, well. now.

But on to happier things. Denmark is a beautiful country. If you get the chance to visit sometime, take it. I spent most of my stay with friends in the small village of Højby, in what might be considered "cottage country", with trips to Copenhagen, Herning (dog show) and the castles at Kronberg and Frederiksborg. I'll post more photos when I get caught up on life.

Thanks to Robert, EBD, Lance, and the many others who have helped keep this place humming during the past few weeks and months. SDA has evolved from personal blog to a monster who must be fed, and your assistance is deeply appreciated!

Kate:

Welcome home. Glad you had a nice holiday in Denmark.

Small Dead Animals is one of the very best blogs on the internet. More info. More intelligent opinion. Just great!

A large thank you to all the contributors.

I enjoyed the picture of the ducks.

Would have enjoyed a more close up picture of the pretty woman.

No, I am not a dirty old man.

Just an old man.

Welcome back Kate..

A well deserved break. I hope you're recharged and ready for the holidays and a new year.

Cheers.

Denmark is indeed great.Maybe next time a side trip to Sweden?Or maybe fight Han's for Hans Island? Welcome back. The next 4 years should be great for blogging.Wonder where the Zero is golfing today.

You have built/are building a legacy, both here and in your personal endeavours, for which you can be proud of, even smug about. :) While busy enjoying the intensity of your life, its important to take the time to stand back and absorb the good things around you that are not of your hand, too. You need'nt offer thanks to anyone; it is we who should be thanking you, for allowing us to piggy back on your ride. Thanks.

Kate, good to see you survived the plane trip and airport fun. Hope you had an excellent time on your trip.

Well said Skip!

SDA, A Canadian "miracle, in Our Time."

Welcome home, glad you had a good trip.

Delightful that Kate has time to be 'swanning around' Europe.

@ Kate & Justthinkin:

Hans Island isn't up for grabs!

Bring your Tuborg beer and we'll talk.

The ice for your cooler is complimentary.

Hope you had a good time Kate.

Cheers

Glad your back safe and sound. The Scandinavian countries are the one area of Europe I haven't visited yet. Hope you enjoyed Denmark.

"SDA has evolved from personal blog to a monster who must be fed..."

That's flattery, right?

Glad you're back. (Kronborg is "Elsinore", eh? Pretty cool.)

As a fellow sufferer, I have to always say Maxalt works for me. Others swear by Zomig, but out of all the medications I've ever tried taking, Maxalt is the only one that can allow me to function in as little as 15 min, or at very least make me not want to consider if 52 sleeping pills might be more effective. :P

Met a Danish-Canadian girl (immigrant parents) in 1987 and married her in 1992 after a thorough vetting by the family "back in the old country". I had to learn enough Danish to talk cooking with grandma and WWII with grandpa. One of my profs jacked me up about it: "Wonderful! There are people in Denmark who don't speak English and now you'll be able to talk with all six of them!"

My favourite Danish story is from my wife's grandfather, who was a cook on a merchant marine vessel during the war. When the Nazis took over the Danish fleet they put a couple of sections of Wehrmacht on each ship to keep the lads in line. But as the Russian front drew down the troop numbers, and because the Danes were "fellow aryans", the sections became one section, and then a few lads, and finally one SS officer. "So one night", says the old man, "we were sailing around Skagen because the Allies had bombed the Kiel canal, so we threw the Nazi in the North Sea, went to England, and spent the rest of the war sailing for the British." I asked whether they'd given the German a life preserver; the old man just laughed. Danes are awesome.

Re: the Kronborg, Kate, I hope you went down below and said hi to Holger Dansk!

Just wondering if anyone noticed that number at the bottom left link list or at the very bottom of the entry pages?

Was just there in Sept for 10 days. Indeed, it is a beautiful country. BTW - tons of hot tall blondes - EVERYWHERE.

I don't hear the monster complaining.
The crew is feeding it well, might even be spoiling it.

Welcome back Kate. Missed you. Lance and others did a masterful job of keeping the blog instantly up to date on world affairs and more particularly -- Benghazi, et al. thanks Lance.

Welcome back Kate and glad you enjoyed your excursion to Denmark.

Even though I have withheld some of my opinions in the past while( usually it is due to the fact that someone has already said what I was thinking), I do check SDA everyday. It is my only "go to" blog.

I have to say it is an honor to be a part of a blog that is so popular and a force to be reckoned with, and that was created by someone from the rural sanctuaries of the Canadian prairies.

Good work SDA team!

Lance - please what is a "link list" and/or an "entry page"?

Sincerely,

An idiot who is confused by this interweb thingy.

SDA has all grod up {O:)
Seriously though people come here to listen others opinions from different fields, From all the lies about the World. Its becoming a first rate news aggregate, as well as Blog. Its forum with versitlity even have the Trolls mugged.
