Anyone who has watched US election coverage analysis with Michael Barone will know that he's someone to take seriously. Let us hope so.

About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

He better be right.
No problem, Kate, we're all good.
I examined at length the Pew Research poll this evening (look at page 8 of the .PDF). Their numbers don't add up: even if you count for Romney the, you know, missing 98 responses, the best Barry can do is a tie.
Besides which, how can Scott Rasmussen find a R+4 in the population, but allow a D+2 voter turnout advantage in the "tie" he's currently projecting?
I am, however, feeling that it's more like Romney by 3 to 6, rather than 5 to 9. I have to tell you that I do feel sad for all of us that this last four years didn't work out better (he's probably getting a bit of sympathy vote at the moment)-- but he's just not the guy for the job. It is what it is -- time to move on.
Saleno Zito is a "reporter's reporter", much like ABC's Jake Tapper is too: overtly unbiased, professional, simply trying to get report the truth that they find and not a predetermined spin.
With that in mind, her latest dispatch seems most prescient. Read every word. And if Romney wins big on Tuesday, read every word again to clearly understand why.
Robert W., 7:52p.m.--
You, sir, would be correct. As they say in the old country, go to the top of the class.
This is one of the most important elections for the US and the free world, they better get it right.
This could turn into a landslide for Romney if the majority pull their heads out of the sand. Otherwise, we, as Canadians get to watch the demise of the United States of America.
Polls have Obama ahead by a wee bit in Ohio and most swing states. We're getting 4 more years.
Romney wins about 300EV. However, it's already too late, not that I think Romney is the one to change anything.
Not quite, LAS. Obama will get himself re-elected, all right. The banksters who've made fortunes off him will see to that.
Four more years? That's another story entirely.
When Obama drives the States off the fiscal cliff to give the banksters their payback---the Romanianization of North America---the armed forces and civilian police forces will be first to be gutted. Don't think that won't have consequences when patriots show up to riot in their millions.
Next Christmas in Bucharest!
Obama doesn't deserve another term, the magic is long gone.
I couldn't find a single person in the section of Florida I was in who had anything good to say about Obozo. What most people there are worried about is that Obozo has signed up enough dead people to win the election. Most people are hoping for the best but planning for the worst - probably a good time to buy stocks in gun and ammo manufacturers.
I'm in the process of writing some letters to various airports telling them what I think of exposing the population at large to communist TV networks (CNN in the US and CBC in Canada) without first doing any animal testing. Yesterday I tried to get as far as possible from the ubiquitous TV monitors which were all tuned to CNN and had moron after moron predicting a big Obozo win in the election. They all were introduced as "experts".
Anyone who relies on the MSM as their sole source of information will hopefully get a major shock if Romney wins big. I don't know what was on CBC at YVR as I could stomach only about 30 seconds of the propaganda and got myself a seat by a power outlet as far away from the TV as possible.
Won't be long before we find out if the Mayans were right in their prediction about the timing of the end of the world. The one positive aspect in this whole mess is that the US military positively loathes the TOTUS. Their allegiance is to the US constitution, not an imbecile who's about to drive the country over a fiscal cliff (and that's one of his better qualities). I never thought that their opinion of Obozo could get lower, but Benghazi showed that the imbecility was far greater than anyone suspected.
I think one has to look at the motivations of various groups to get out and vote. The NRA will probably do a very good job of delivering the vote from their millions of members now that they've endorsed Romney. The Libertarians who couldn't bring themselves to vote for McCain in 2008 will likely be out in droves to keep the Kenyan out of the WH. There are also huge numbers of unemployed people in the US who now know what type of "change" Obozo had in mind.
Right now the only gut feeling I get about this election is the need to buy a lot more ammo and survival supplies. The MSM, should Romney win big, likely won't recover from such an event given how they've been predicting an easy win by Obozo in all of the propaganda I was subjected to yesterday. I really regretted not bringing along a slingshot and some ball bearings as these would have made it through the airport security theater and would have given me some quiet time while waiting for my flights. ATL is busy enough that one could easily get off a few shots at a TV monitor without being noticed.
LAS and Dick Slater, I think the polls are misleading given that Romney seems to be doing very well with voters/early turn-out/opinions/ect. I think the main thing driving this election is the economy. You can't fool 23 million unemployed into voting for the Chosen One again.
Loki...right on.
The media (CNN et al) will make the snide remarks about the Fox bubble, but as Selino Zita has described they are out of touch with mainstreet USA. We can hope.
As for your reference to the Mayan predictions, that has been my gut feeling as well.
A weak USA is clearly affecting the whole world playing field. We can hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
I might not be as confident as 2 weeks ago since I hear the buses are running the Demos everywhere to vote X1, X2, X3 etc.
Still think Romney wins simply because most Americans are out of work, under-employed or are afraid of losing their jobs. Any thinking American would be nervous. Come the polling booth they will vote Romney.
Of course Romney's secret weapon is his on the ground army of Mormons. Who knows the country better? :)
I still can't quite shake memory of the Alberta provincial election.
