    That female privilege checklist is good. I’d add the omnipresent female-specific scholarships and the “getting more women into engineering/medical school/science initiatives” present on every campus. Never mind that female students already outnumber men at university now.

  3. I am having a sick day o the couch so I sat down and watched the entire thing. t’s amazing that someone who is a PHD candidate can be so clueless. I won’t give examples here because I could go on. All I will say is don’t bother sending you sons to university or they will come out a hell of a lot stupider than they went in.
    The only comment I will make is that he basically says “women and men are equal, except women are not equal so men need to help them so that they can be equal”. That’s some pretty good circular logic you have going on there dude.

    I hear you about finding a spare half hour in our busy day to wade through this. I stopped 4 minutes in, but for any of us who lament the many ways our culture is going the wrong way on the road to progress, this is relevant and important.
    It exemplifies some of what is wrong with academia, our cultural obsession with equality, and the media as well.

    Mr Moscrop totally ignores the fact that not all men can be ‘any of those things’ either. He also ignores the fact that there are twice as many men as women in the genius or very bright category where the CEO talent pool is located.

  7. Who is this guy? Teacher or nurse? It isn’t 1950 anymore. And if women are “under represented” in engineering fields maybe it’s because we find those fields BORING!
    and OMG Volleyball outfits? Maybe they want to wear them?
    His more likely personal journey on the path to feminism: he was having trouble meeting babes because his feminine qualities were a turn-off to most women, he discovered phony outrage as a path to getting laid.

  9. Oh, dearie me. Another theoretical Ivory Tower wonk who’s never run a company, made a payroll, etc. The part about female trades made me laugh.
    A) There are no women in the trades. You will find the odd Amazon out there kicking it with the boys, but a year can go by between sitings.
    B) Women overwhelmingly do not do equal work. Men out-work them by about 1/3rd, mostly because women have to take time off for pregnancy and kids. Have to. Female doctors DO NOT work the hours men do, taken over an extended period. This is showing up as a problem in Canada right now because it takes two women to replace one of the retiring old male warhorses who can’t take it anymore.
    The ability to ignore Reality guys like this David Moscrop weenie have, it never fails to amaze me. If this dork was a mechanic he’d forget to tighten the wheel nuts after a brake job, and people would die.

    Just go to any child custody court case or diviorce court and see where the women are being compensated monetarily for the doing of the big evil male …lol..
    women are as equal as they choose to be .
    the problem i have is women do not at all care to be equal to men in my opinion they care to be treated specially apart from men …example i work with a younger girl (we manufacture aircraft) she is “sick” two days amonth every month month in and month out …no questions asked no problems no worries …..if i were to be “sick” two day’s a month, month in and month out i would be fired ..if she get’s fired it is gender discrimination but that smae woman will defend a womens right to choose witch of her offspring live to make it alive out of her womb based on thier gender !! lol …
    Stick a sock in in it buddy this guy along with any woman who think this video makes sence is not worth my time to debate thier points!!

  14. I think that I will just wait for Mr. Moscrop and his ilk, to die; though I might not be able to wait that long. I really can’t take serious a man who cannot run a comb through his hair, or see that he needs a shave whilst putting on his tie, though we will give him credit for that, at least. Yes I know, I am a shallow, misogynistic old fool, but, there you have it!

  15. @max: Here’s a fun data point. I started at a prestigious Canadian engineering university in the early nineties when the “get more women in engineering” BS was just starting.
    After ten years of that bollocks the numbers don’t lie: there were *fewer* women in engineering than before the program started.
    My personal experience was that a large number of unqualified and uninterested young women were given full-ride scholarships, then flunked out or transferred out in less than a year.

    Lawyers are as predictable as journalists. As soon as you hear the subject matter example – “women in industry”. You know EXACTLY what you are going to get. There is no need to listen.

  19. When as many women die at work as men, he’ll have a point. When as many women work 60+ hours a week as men, he’ll have a point. When as many women pick careers based on the expected pay (as opposed to how hard the courses are, or what their friends are taking) as men, he’ll have a point. When women can relax around a dirty or possibly offensive joke as men (thereby displaying more of a want to get along with others rather than forcing their decorum on others), he’ll have a point. When women don’t rate each other by looks and time/money spent on appearance, he’ll have a point.
    Until then, he’s just a whiny b*tch. (yes, I think that that term can be applied regardless of gender. Egalitarian, isn’t it?)

  20. Thanks to the commenters who saved me 27 minutes of video-induced agony. The blogger did a good job but there are still examples she left out. A man who kills his kids gets charged with murder and a minimum of 25 years in the slammer; a woman would get changed with infanticide and get 3-5 years. Equality under the law?

We can all say the view points of the progressive are BS and they are however remove yourself from a rural setting and a family with set values based on tradition, and I think on the whole more young minds are getting fed crap like in the video and not enough parents have it within themselves to counter the progressive gobbledegook that seems to maybe have taken hold on the younger generation, especially boys.
    Dropping off my youngest daughter at the University of Guelph this fall I was surprised at the high number of girls walking around campus compared to the number of boys.
    Maybe the damage has already been done?

  22. I made it 5:27 before I puked. This is a wuss, period. Like the verifiable fact that stay-at-home moms do twice as much childcare work. Like, duh eh. This crap about trades people that happen to be women getting $0.65 for every dollar is on of those cockamamie facts that conveniently omit that the only way a guy could make more is seniority, having progressed up the pay scale without time off to reproduce, do more overtime or other on call because the females have to quit on time to get their snowflakes out of daycare before the rates go up. Every trade deal or trade union contract I have seen has NOT included the gender difference. First year journeyman plumber makes the same wage no matter what their plumbing is.
    If Robert wasted 27 minutes of his life watching this then I am sorry for him.

  25. I’m in the last third of my life expectancy and do not wish to squander any of what’s left to this drivel. The older I get – the pickier I get. Actually – I wouldn’t have given this a second look in the first nor second trimester of my life.

    I figured out real quick in my 20’s just after I became prematurely bald, that despite my superiors having my file in their hot little hands, they assumed (perhaps subconsciously) that I was older and more mature than my peers.
    Like that foolishness that folks with glasses are smarter, I suppose.
    The baldy didn’t get me chicks but it got me promotions…..
