During the current U.S. Presidential Election Campaign we’ve been inundated with some rather bizarre advertisements from the brain trust that wants to see Barack Obama re-elected. In the last century, across the pond in the Soviet Union, the hearts and minds of the Russian people were meant to be captured by cartoons like this one: American Imperialist: The Millionaire

    Interesting story.
    The kids are not alright. They are upset that their trip has been cancelled. They wanted a few days out of the class and would likely even be upset mo matter which candidate they would have been supporting. If a Catholic teacher did this in support of Romney,this story would have made the CBC.
    That teacher should be disciplined though. There are plenty of ways to teach civics to the kids that do not involve taking them to an important swing state in a foriegn country to campaign for your own favourite candidate.

I don’t know if it included “American Imperialist: The Millionaire” but when my brother was at Ryerson at the same time Jack Layton was “teaching” there, Jack showed Commie cartoons to my brother’s class that were so outrageously stupid that even the class Leftists laughed at Jack about them. I wonder if that’ll be in the biopic?

    A series of hot springs on Haida Gwaii — which once bubbled with water as warm as 77 C — has dried up since Saturday’s earthquake.
    Days after the remote B.C. archipelago of Haida Gwaii emerged virtually unscathed from Canada’s second-strongest earthquake, locals discovered that the shifting earth had mysteriously switched off a centuries-old hot spring considered sacred by the Haida.
    “It’s a very culturally significant site — even today Haida people would go down to take advantage of healing properties of the springs,” said Ernie Gladstone, a field unit superintendent for Gwaii Haanas National Park, of which Hot Spring Island is a part.
    Earlier this week, scattered reports began drifting in that the familiar cloud of steam over the island (known as Gandll K’in Gwaayaay in the Haida language) had disappeared.
    A Parks Canada inspection party set out to investigate and stepped ashore to find that the island’s three main hot spring pools, which once bubbled with water as warm as 77 Celsius, were bone dry. “Not even a small puddle,” said Mr. Gladstone.
