Zero Fallout

Principal moves on.

Don't worry though:

“I have applied and been successful in the competition for the position of supervisor of Leadership Development. I will be co-ordinating the development and implementation of Edmonton Public Schools’ leadership development framework. This has always been a deep passion of mine and I start my new job with the human resources department on Tuesday, Oct. 9.”

So to recap, a teacher who stuck to his values got fired and an administrator was shuffled out of the loop. I think this years curriculum contains two new courses, Moral Fortitude and Defining the Peter Principle by Example.

Obviously a win for the kids. /sarc

Update: From Sun:

After months of turmoil, Dorval has bounced back from his termination.

Recently he accepted a part-time physics position at Tempo School, a private kindergarten-Grade 12 school on the city's south side.

Happy ending.

"I will be co-ordinating the development and implementation of Edmonton Public Schools’ leadership development framework."

If you believe this new "job" has anything to do with teaching kids anything they need to know, you are crazy. The amount of dead weight in modern education must be incredible.

If this is a win, I would hate to see a loss.

Amazing that we have a system that rewards the incompetent and punishes the achievers. Bradley will head a leadership dept. yet his only achievement is in firing a teacher who got results and put common sense above political correctness. No wonder the whole school system has been failing for 50 years. A good education and common sense seem to be incompatible as are the costs entailed and the value derived. The whole system is a hotbed of educated losers who would never succeed in a voucher system.

This is no surprise to me. In education, the people who suck and lick get the promotions. Those who have principles and stick to them, get the shaft. It wasn't always like that.

I will be co-ordinating the development and implementation of Edmonton Public Schools’ leadership development framework.

Speaking of the Peter Principle, this sounds suspiciously like the Lateral Arabesque.

There is a message here for all of those who protested the firing of the teacher. Fu-k you, from your friends at the dept of education.

The rcmp operate exactly the same way.

... and the responsibility for crashing the framework rest with natural born leaders.

Teachers can be FIRED in Canada?? Wow. How primitively punitive. Here in Michigan they're just transferred to another school. (He said feeling very superior to his northern neighbors.)

". . . supervisor of Leadership Development" which would imply that there is an entire department of "Leadership Development". The school I went to had teachers, a principal who also taught, a school secretary, part-time librarian and custodian/maintenance/janitor. With the education they provided I was able to achieve high marks on provincial exams and get accepted into a first class university and eventually going on to a professional career.
I'm curious to know what benefit the consumer (student) gets from these various administrative departments and what value for money the taxpayer realizes from them.

Thats, "eventually go on to . . ." I'm watching golf and am therefore intermittently distracted. (Or maybe I didn't do quite as well in school as I thought.)

Its the same in any job run by Municipalities as well.
The Golden Idiots always get the Obama treatment, while the competent always get ignored or persecuted. Not me personally ( I stay under the radar) , but seen it many times.
Ive seen guys with tons of talent with Natural leadership abilities get piled on by the usual morons who have none. They uses accreditation (Which they only pay for the golden) to pass over the accomplished for the paper idiots.

No wonder so many people think they're entitled to be paid for just showing up at work, why on earth would they actually have to perform meaningful tasks. I seem to recall a shooting at that school back in late fifties or early sixties.

LJ...thinking of this?

On March 16, 1959, 19-year-old Stan Williamson opened fire with a .22 calibre rifle inside a crowded corridor of Ross Sheppard High School, killing 16-year-old Howard Gates and wounding five teenage girls. The shooting ended when three 18-year-old students held the gunman down until he could be arrested by police

This so typical of the unaccountable bureacracy. This moron should be punted from the system for the damage he has done, but instead they promote him past his level of incompetence because they are afraid to do the right thing, and he is allowed to screw up the sytem even more from a position of greater power. This is the legacy of the Left.

This incident is a free advertisement for private schools.

"Ignoring lawful orders"? Does the principal believe he is a general in the army?

David in Michigan - I doubt a teacher could be fired in Ontario, the teachers unions here are quite powerful.

The amount of dead weight in modern education must be incredible.

At least as much as exists in the rest of the public sector

There is a disease in our education sytem...this guy is but a sympton. Common sense has gone the way of rote learning...which by the way..worked so well for so many generations (times tables, phoenics etc.), a
ll burned in the all consuming fires of political correctness, continuing extreme feminism and outright elitist arrogance. And now this Gooph has been promoted. What a complete (expletive deleted), joke. Is it any wonder we have created a class of perpetually lazy and entitled students....with an attitude of, what me.? you cant fail me....YOU Owe me.!

The quebec student riots are an excellent example thereof.

Only in Government would you have position of "Leadership Development" What the hell is that other than a burden to taxpayers paying another useless government employee.

Attended a grade twelve graduation last night. You should have heard the speech by the board of education trustee.

It was Progressive garbage, that defended changes in the education system over the years, and any to come like no zero's, no homework etc.

She didn't speak of the future so much other then tell the kids to embrace ipads, like they have handheld calculators, but you could tell in between the lines she was laying out a defense for senseless progress, by just labeling it as change.

Further, “students who wish to use pronouns other than the masculine or the feminine (such as ‘zhe’ and ‘hir’) need to be accommodated equally,” the guidelines note.

I was in grade 9 in Red Deer at the time. If there had been enough men with the gumption of those three 18 year olds, perhaps the massacre in Montreal wouldn't have happened. How times have changed. If I didn't hand an assignment in, I got a big "0". No marks for just showing up. My grade 11 university entrance Junior Matriculation from back then qualifies for admission as a regular student to U of Winnipeg. So much for the value of a current High School Diploma. Must be inflation
