The Florida State Board of Education has passed a new strategic plan:
For reading at or above the grade level, the goals are as follows:
- 90 percent of Asian students
- 88 percent of White students
- 81 percent of Hispanic students
- 74 percent of Black students
For math at or above the grade level, the goals are as follows:
- 92 percent of Asian students
- 86 percent of White students
- 80 percent of Hispanic students
- 74 percent of Black students
Proponents bearing the soft prejudice of low expectations have won. Game over.
So when these goals of varying expectations are met, it will be reported, that 100% of the expectations are met.
Do progressives believe that setting lower standards for a particular group will help them?
It's the group from which we demand the most that will eventually excel.
So, is this indicative of mental capacity.

It’s unfortunate but true. You simply can’t trust their credentials anymore.
Included is hiring black people for any small business, you simply can’t afford the litigations if they become disgruntled. A white small business owner takes on far too many liabilities to risk hiring black people in this day and age due to Liberalism.
First you find their credentials are fraudulent, and then they sue you for discrimination if you don’t treat them with kid gloves and promote them beyond their abilities.

To normal people yes. Its crippling to them before they even start. Demeaning if not out right demoralizing. To a liberal though this is progressivism at its finest . Showing its tolerance by not expecting anything above average. Like the principle here in Edmonton who got a good teacher fired for giving out zero's or sports teams not allowed to score. e can't allow anyone to fail or have hurt feelings, let alone strive for excellence. This is very interesting. Professor Phillipe Rushton passed away last week. Who is he, you ask?
Well, he was the guy who was excoriated by the PC crowd for his research into the social and intellectual differences among the various races.
Among his conclusions was that intellectual acumen
differs between the races. He enumerated them thus-
starting at the most intelligent.

For the past 20 years he lived his life in obscurity due to threats on his life. Fast forward to today and it appears that, by this article, his conclusions have been adopted.

I remember a book, titled "The Bell Curve", in which IQ test score disparities were linked to race. It linked scores by racial groups from high to low in the same order as these "expectations". This book and this linkage were both roundly condemned by liberals. Educators in Florida have some explaining to do...

Can't wait until the NFL and possibly the IOC and other sports organizations can find a way to implement a similar criteria. It would be nice to see some slower white guys given a chance.
Here's the real explanation of these goals: Not that it's RIGHT, but the idea behind these goals to make them achievable. They probably are some percentage higher than current levels for each sub group. We do the same thing at our school for our own "school improvement plan". For instance, if the current achievement levels are 64% Black and 80% Asian, it wouldn't make any sense to make them all 90%. The jump is too high for Black students. The goals must be obtainable. I'm sure the idea here is that over the course of a few years, the achievement gap will begin to close. Of course, until we start teaching parents in low socio-economic groups how to help their kids (and themselves), the achievement gap will never close.
Before long anyone can have a high school diploma, only requirement to pass will be sitting in a cave chipping away on some Flintstone.
It's not just politically incorrect idiocy or racism of soft expectations; it's a scathing indictment of the students themselves. They might as well tell the school body that the Asians will come out on top, the whites will do okay and the blacks might as well drop out now.
Or, we can expect students and teachers to work their butts off.
The latter is not too likely.

I find the candor refreshing in environments that typically do everything they can to obscure or wave away these disparities. It soothes me as much as when Jesse Jackson admitted if he heard footfalls behind him on a dark, empty street he would be relieved to see it was a white person. If there is a solution, it can only be found when we embrace truths.

@ Rick: Thanks for bringing up Professor J. Philippe Rushton. I had never heard of him before. I found this quote in a Wikipedia article on him. "Rushton said that Islam was not just a cultural, but also a genetic problem. He thought the religion and issues associated with it were not just a condition of the belief system. His theory was that Muslims have an aggressive personality with relatively closed, simple minds, and were less amenable to reason." My mouth dropped open and then I laughed. What a guy!
