Unhappy Democrats

Richard Cohen is a devout Leftist. He's also a columnist for the Washington Post. And he's not happy with Barack Obama.

Cohen's latest piece is well worth a read because it vividly demonstrates how profoundly Leftists across America invested in their New Messiah and how they projected so many of their Hopes & Dreams onto a man they barely knew.

To be clear, Obama relished this attention, this devotion, this love, this adoration of him as a God-like figure thought to float above the great unwashed masses. But much like the Wizard of Oz, he turned out to be a rather puny fellow when the curtain was pulled away. If his track record is any indication, Barack Hussein Obama is a below average politician, in terms of intellect, wisdom, ideas, and even work ethic. He has very good teleprompter reading skills and is a slick salesman who could probably sell sand to a rube in the desert, but other than that, what discernible skills does he have to give anyone confidence that he should be President of the United States of America?

Richard Cohen no longer has that confidence:

... somewhere between the campaign and the White House itself, Obama got lost. It turned out he had no cause at all. Expanding health insurance was Hillary Clinton’s longtime goal, and even after Obama adopted it, he never argued for it with any fervor. In an unfairly mocked campaign speech, he promised to slow the rise of the oceans and begin to heal the planet. But when he took office, climate change was abandoned — too much trouble, too much opposition. His eloquence, it turned out, was reserved for campaigning.

Obama never espoused a cause bigger than his own political survival. This is the gravamen of the indictment from the left, particularly certain African Americans. They are right. Young black men fill the jails and the morgues, yet Obama says nothing. Bobby Kennedy showed his anger, his impatience, his stunned incredulity at the state of black America. Obama shows nothing.

These Democrats have lost their faith too.

So many young black men are in jails or the morgue as a direct consequence of liberals and liberalism and it's destruction of the black family.

Bobby Kennedy's anger would have been more profitably directed at a mirror. Perhaps he could have also reflected on the historical and economic reasons why Martin Luther King, Jr. was a registered Republican.

Abraham Lincoln was the first Republican president-
freed the slaves.

Democrats kept slaves in sheds like mules.

Blacks in America vote for democrats,
must be a desire for self abuse.

"Bloomberg to Obama: Stay away"

"And I was flattered that he offered to come, but I think that the thing for him to do is go to New Jersey and represent the country.”"

"... we would love to have him, but we‘ve got lots of things to do,” Bloomberg told reporters. “And I’m not trying to diss him, but I know he had planned a trip to New Jersey, and I said, ‘That’s fine. It represents the whole region; people understand the storm.’”"

"I want to be reelected."

To all these people I say "We saw all of this in 2008".

Apparently this fool still doesn't understand that Globull Warming
was and is a gigantic con to open the tax and spend floodgates
while at the same time doing everything possible to cripple the
capitalist run areas of the American economy.
.

From Mr Cohen's article

"I will vote for him to keep Republican vandals from sacking the government"

Yeah, because more government equals more prosperity, just like in Russia before 1989 or North Korea today where everyone works for the government.

But he does show his faux rage when Mr. Romney brought up Libyan lies at the debate. He's a faux president and now he wants to go to New Jersey and cause chaos with his security and limos, so he can "look presidential". The presidential thing to do would be to say "I know you're busy getting power back and the streets cleared, I'll come back next week". At least when GWB went to New York after 9/11, the airports were open, as of now the 3 major airports in New York area are under water. Where is he going to land? Of course on the plus side maybe the crowds will boo him...Or Chris Christie will invite Mitt Romney to go along on the helicopter ride. Wouldn't that be cool...

Chris Christie is going to regret his gentlemanly behaviour in praising Obama. The Zero and his campaign are going to be the bad date about whom you were polite enough to find one nice thing to mention in the lunch room, but who won't stop calling or trying to be seen with you afterwards.

Cohen: "In an unfairly mocked campaign speech, he promised to slow the rise of the oceans and begin to heal the planet."

"Unfairly mocked" -- the man remains delusional.

The far left shouldn't be mad at Obama. They should look at the selves in the mirror and be filled with self-hate for the naive, mal-informed fanatical non-adults they have become.

"He’s a black man, and that matters greatly."

I lost interest after I read that sentence. Why does the colour of the man's skin "matter greatly"?

Why do these tired old leftists always ... always bring race into the equation?

The left are to stupid to see, biffjr, that not every black man has the intelligence of a Thomas Sowell, and not every white man is an Einstein. Here is another example of that stupidity in print. These people are stunted adolescent thinkers on every level, societal, personal entertainment etc., but their financial dullness is what costs all of us. "Like a husband screaming at his wife, Why is there no money in the bank, you won money on the VLT's didn't you say". Keep the lefties in the entertainment industry, hair dressing, fashion etc. far away from treasuries, since their stupidity gives us laughs on so many levels there, they can't hurt much

I am not disappointed in Odumbo...He performed as expected. Actually, this tool WAY exceeded my expectations.

47% of Americans are such fools...

My hope is that the creeping political reality evidenced in the US will also cause a fracture among the left up here, breaking the Canadian left into 2 or more irreconcilable camps. The NDP is currently divided along the same lines as the dems down south and it would take very little to cause a "purge". I am still in contact with a number of folks I used to work with who are much like the fellow in the article and many of them rarely speak to each other any more. They still vote for the same party most of the time, but a couple have taken to voting Liberal and others pine for a much more hostile alternative. Mulcair will eventually be forced to take the party to the middle if he hopes to make the NDP electable, but he will do so at a time when his base is deeply divided and decidedly schismatic. That combined with a reformed Liberal party that has swung left will serve to blow the federal NDP to pieces.

Hate the rich all you want.

But thank 'em on payday.....

I see parallels between the way our press is treating Justin Trudeau and the way the press treated (treats) Obama. They are cheerleading and not reporting. They are shaping opinions, not reporting and letting form their own opinions. Justin will prove to be another empty chair, but it will be their chair, the media's, so all is good.

mray said: "I am not disappointed in Odumbo...He performed as expected. Actually, this tool WAY exceeded my expectations."

Absolutely. Even Benghazi isn't much of a surprise, given what we knew of Barry and the Chicago Machine back in 2008. They were trying to do something crooked, again, it came unglued and they tried to shovel dirt on it to hide the mess. Two soldiers come along and f- up their whole coverup. Same thing they did in Fast&Furious, just came apart faster this time.

Barry flying to New Jersey today is the SAME THING he did with the BP oil spill. He'll go down to the beach, stare out to sea thoughtfully, pick up a Barbie doll off the beach and give it to a little girl. Chris Christie will play Second Banana.

Barry did precisely the same thing when he went down to the beach and picked a chunk of grease off the sand.

I'm going to do a post on it right now over at the Soapbox. The guy needs a beating with the Cluebat, I'm going to give him one blog style.

(Secret Service apparatchiks and jackboots monitoring this comment stream please note:
A) I am a Canadian in Canada so I can f-ing well say what I want, and
B)Cluebats are a LITERARY ALLUSION not an actual bat, so what I'm going to -do- is write something mean on the Intertubes. Get over yourselves.)

Joe Biden said it best:

"I mean, you got this first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,"
Biden said. "I mean, that's a storybook, man."

Quit panicking. Christie can afford to be gracious because Romney's going to win.

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/10/31/Chris-Christie-Welcomes-President-to-the-Post-Obama-Era

Maybe one day they'll realize their whole belief system is a sham too.

Obama reminds me of Trudeau, marxist to the core, posturing poseur and empty suit. Trudeau tried to wreck Canada economically, legally, militarily, and politically and got at least halfway there. Obama will do better (worse?) if re-elected.

I laughed out loud when he said the "heal the planet" speech was "unfairly mocked". Delusional.

An American friend of mine, long resident in Canada (which he has always patronised) reacted with horror when I criticised Obama.
"But he is our [African-American] saviour!" my friend said, without irony.

In addition to the lacks enumerated in the note, he also seems to lack courage.

"not every black man has the intelligence of a Thomas Sowell, and not every white man is an Einstein"

Exactly. And that is what really pisses me off about these lefties. Of course they would never admit to it, but they view the average black as being too stupid or too lazy or too unqualified to ever amount to anything. Much the same celebratory crap takes place whenever a female accomplishes something above and beyond the left's standards.

Black, white, male, female .... so what? They are all human beings. The left is continually slapping down the race card or the gender card thus insinuating that certain segments of the population are somehow inferior and any accomplishments must be hailed as extraordinary feats.

Yet they have the audacity to label conservatives as racist or sexist at every opportunity.

At this point if he gets reelected, the yanks will deserve him.
I cant see it happening but then again i never saw Alberta happening either.

Ahhahahahaha!
"The Audacity of Mope"

The writer is still just a delusional Democrat,he'll still vote for the guy even though he's disappointed in him.

There's a rule in politics, if you aren't satisfied with the performance of the guy, vote against him, things aren't going to change because of your wishes and dreams. Liberals are SO hooked on their "faith".

The definition of "condescension" in the dictionaries should be changed to : "Democrats attitude toward blacks".

"The writer is still just a delusional Democrat,he'll still vote for the guy even though he's disappointed in him."

What happens is folks like the fellow in the article mostly stay home on election day. It's becoming more about convincing your opponent that his vote means nothing than convincing your own to turn out. The tactic is usually used by liberals to defeat the vastly larger conservative electorate, but in this instance it is merely going to contribute to an incredibly crushing defeat for Obama.

Yes, that statement by Cohen is ridiculous.. about Obama being 'unfairly mocked' for his messianic preaching about his election being the cause of stopping the 'rise of the oceans' (tell that to NYC right now!) and bringing 'peace on earth' (tell that to Benghazi and Syria and Iraq and ...).

Obama is campaigning right now; he's using all the photo ops in NJ to sideline Benghazi. After all, people are talking about not merely his failure to protect Americans in Benghazi but his lies about this to the public. People are talking about impeaching Obama for this dereliction of duty.

So with this Sandy storm, where NOTHING is required of Obama - no decisions, no action other than declaring it a disaster so that federal funds can be released, well, it's a great campaign diversion from Benghazi and the economy for Obama.

And Obama can fly in and parade around and wave and..campaign. The real work and decisions are made by the state and the municipalities. Not Obama. He's campaigning.

Christie? He's sucking up to Obama because he wants millions in relief funds.

Cohen? What a weird column. He's praising Robert Kennedy because he 'felt his emotions', he 'genuinely cared', while Cohen is finally admitting that Obama is a cold self-centred fish. Yes, that's true.

But emotion isn't what is needed in a president. The ability to think, to plan, to analyze situations, to listen to others (Obama's narcissism prevents this), to work on policies and programs. That's what's needed, and Obama who never voted in the Senate except as 'present', has no such abilities or concerns.

The campaign speech was NOT "unfairly mocked." We were very fair about it. His speech was worthy of ridicule, and we did.

The disillusionment still doesn't stop them from voting incompetent self proclaimed Messiahs though.

Well, there's no honor among thieves or communists.
Obama didn't get lost, he's doing exactly what his master told him to do. He wasn't elected, he was installed in the White House by George Soros and other sources of evil. Obama is living high, mocking Americans and enjoying being King. You didn't think he was selfish child Mr. Cohen? He is living proof that your philosopgy is foolish. You got what you wanted so quit your whinging.
