Africa is the focus of armed jihad. It will be won or lost with armed counter-jihad.

An entire continent hangs in the balance.

"Africa is the focus of armed jihad. It will be won or lost with armed counter-jihad."

The entire globe is the focus of armed jihad. These are simply the places they can easily reach on a small budget.

The Liberal Progressives are doing their very best to give them a hand up with broader reach into the west through mass immigration and funding. The UN and the Clinton administration would be more than happy to help them out further in North Africa with your money like they did in Libya and are currently doing in Syria.

ECOWAS is s l o w ll y moving to action there. The jihadists are few in number and will be crushed.

Une vidéo en français sur sda c'est bien..

Knight 99, yep, add to that Egypt/Tunisia. Guess we never did hear back from those SDA readers who were so optimistic about the outcome in Egypt, heh ho.
As I guess we both know Algeria is going to actually be an island of stability in the region, wow I'd not have bet on that a few years ago.
I'm glad Kate has brought up the ongoing struggle in Mali, its part of the broader front and one country that has been desperately crying out for help, much like Southern Sudan did for decades lets hope they get some help.
Oh and to the ever humorist froggy troll, yeah french ... only spoken in the worlds shit holes, enjoy reality.

Yeah well...a few years back...France sorted out Chad with a company of Legionaires and a handful of fighter bombers...swiftly.

The problem with Chad was the Libyan Army as well as jihadi's....

No foreign army involved in Mali(such as the Libyan Army)so it's really a small matter.

Yeah everybody...including you....should learn a second language. For you I suggest French...it's very similar that crap you speak.

Hm, another good little war for us to stay out of.

France, show us your stuff, send your elite forces over there and kick the hell out of those rebels.

And don't call on the UN.

Probably don't want to mess with the Tuareg.

Just sayin'...

“As I guess we both know Algeria is going to actually be an island of stability in the region, wow I'd not have bet on that a few years ago.”

Yea, go figure; I got out of Algeria 4 months after 9/11 never to return. Of course Algeria maintains a benevolent dictatorial regime conducive to Arab culture that smacks down Islamic radicals and nomadic bandits alike (As did Gaddafi). The fact that American along other western oil & other companies operate with relative impunity and Algerian officials are easily greased (expected practice), they have no fear of American peace bombs leveling any villages anytime soon.

Islamists, under the guise of "FREEDOM" and the "Right to Self Determination", with the real or implicit "approval" vis a vis inaction of the UN, WILL take over the Middle East and Africa.

What I found crazy was we, the West, stepped into Libya, and enabled the Islamists to come round the corner, and into power. Same scenario, but no west military intervention, in the Egypt issue.

The UN etal stand by, and attrocities commited by this group in Africa, etc, no comment, no condemnation.

This ineffective institution has effectively ceded authority to this religion and extremists to do as they will without consequence. Witness Coptic Christians and assaults against women.

In history, our (essentially the UN), acceptance, non action, and assistance (real or implicit) will be noted as our darkest hour, and one in which we gave up REAL HUMAN RIGHTS.

The ZEALOTS will prevail, and it is at the free worlds peril that we permit it. A sad page or chapter in our history.

And we in the America's seem destined to forment our own rot and demise by forgetting our core values and caving to these segments under the guise of equity and fairness.

Guess what folks, we're weak or pansies, take your pick, but without a stand or principles and values, these groups WILL destroy us.

The UN is toast, the line must be drawn and held, SO, lets wake up. Arise and take action.

Knight 99, exactly. "Democrazy" in Algeria would bring the same new peace found all over the middle east. If their benevolent dictator needs to butt heads together ever so often to keep the peace, so be it.

Exactly, the oil flows freely from Algeria to Europe with very little profits going to the Algerian people, very much like Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. Hillary won’t mess with that unless Europe gets some guff like they did with Gaddafi, who shared a little too much with his own people - for a European/ US friendly dictator.

I expect once the French Foreign Legion gets involved then there won't be much left of the islamofascists. The big question is whether the new socialist leader of France is willing to alienate his primary supporters by sending the Legion into Mali.

Not sure why this got stuck in the filter but facts are facts. Author unknown.

Two Middle Eastern mothers are sitting in a cafe chatting over a plate of tabouli and a pint of goat's milk.

The older of the two pulls a small folder out of her handbag and starts flipping through photos. They start reminiscing.

''This is my oldest son, Mujibar. He would have been 24 years old now.''

''Yes, I remember him as a baby.'' says the other mother cheerfully.

"He's a martyr now though." the mother confides.

"Oh, so sad dear...'' says the other.

''And this is my second son, Khalid. He would have been 21.''

''Oh, I remember him,'' says the other happily, ''he had such curly hair when he was born.''

''He's a martyr too...'' says the mother quietly.

''Oh, gracious me...'' says the other.

''And this is my third son. My baby. My beautiful Ahmed. He would have been 18'', she whispers.

"Yes," says the friend enthusiastically, ''I remember when he first started school...''

''He's a martyr also,'' says the mother, with tears in her eyes.

After a pause and a deep sigh, the second Muslim mother looks wistfully at the photographs and, searching for the right words, says . . .

"They blow up so fast, don't they?"

That my friend was a thing of beauty.

With America the way it is, its best to do your own fighting.. I Obamaland nothing is a surety.

it was really hard to tell what was wrecked from what was supposed to be useful.
suppose thats the effect of a civilization that only got as far as dried mud bricks. something even the NA Indians managed to surpass.

"I expect once the French Foreign Legion gets involved then there won't be much left of the islamofascists. The big question is whether the new socialist leader of France is willing to alienate his primary supporters by sending the Legion into Mali."

Difficult to call that one.
In 1956, Britain and France had very socialist regimes, famous for their anti-colonial rant. Nasser nationalized the Suez Canal and instantly both co-operated in a co-ordinated invasion of Eygpt.

and enabled the Islamists to come round the corner, and into power.

You mean the ones that lost the election? Do you ever ponder reality?

Egypt is the only place where the Arab Spring has been bad. Yemen's Arab Spring was good for American security.

@ Las
"Yemen's Arab Spring was good for American security".

How does one ever know ? That's like saying the TSA was good for American security although in over 10 years they have never caught a terrorist yet pride themselves in making the travellers life miserable. Yemen is just another Muslim sh!thole, but is too poor to fund a decent terrorist operation. The two major groups still fighting for power are Ansar al-Sharia and shiites. Ansar is a branch of Alquada so the jury is still out whether the Arab spring was beneficial. I would bet on not.

Exactly, idiots keep trying to equate the ME/muslims with the society they themselves live in, and the people with those that surround them, "we are all born equal" doesn't mean what most of them think it does.

And whilst they aren't exactly numerous there is still a relatively large christian community in Algeria, its still very strange to see a priest in Algiers airport, and it is most definitely something to keep quiet about if your Algerian and working south of Hassi Messoud but then thats not most peoples holiday destination.

Might not be no1 lesson but its pretty high up there for any liberals from the recent events in N.Africa/M.E.
"You might want to rethink that "democracy trumps dictator principle".

loki and sasquatch .. thanks...
The about the "Sahara Unveiled" from William Langewiesche is a great book. I'll be see the Algiers, Niger and Senegal. The Tuareg story and the tragedy (Qaddafi) is good in Tamanrasset.
