If someone was shitkicked protecting an Obama sign, after the laughter, I think most here would be demanding proof a conservative was involved. And rightly so.

Conservative signs were trashed all across my riding in the last election, but no NDP signs were (the Libs were missing in action). These thugs were wrecking and/or stealing R-R signs - that's a political act. Since nobody has been accused of stealing Obama signs, your demand for "proof" is irrelevant.

The signs would be quite valuable in the future somewhat like collecting Paul Revere silver artifacts or Ronald Reagan campaign buttons. In a political campaign the leftwing parties and their allies play tactical hardball. It's even traditional with some, e.g., union members and students. They know it's important to get out their own message while impeding or preventing their opponents from doing the same.
Accordingly they deface or destroy the opposition's signage, posters, pamphlets, campaign offices, etc. They harass campaign volunteers and suspected supporters with late night phone calls and damaging their property such as cars and storefronts.
It's all about intimidation. If you can frighten and deter an opponent's volunteers, you cripple that campaign. It's that simple.
