The Sound Of Settled Science

Daily Mail;

The world stopped getting warmer almost 16 years ago, according to new data released last week.

The figures, which have triggered debate among climate scientists, reveal that from the beginning of 1997 until August 2012, there was no discernible rise in aggregate global temperatures.

This means that the ‘plateau’ or ‘pause’ in global warming has now lasted for about the same time as the previous period when temperatures rose, 1980 to 1996. Before that, temperatures had been stable or declining for about 40 years.

No one wants to admit they were part of the scam, and many don't want to believe they were scammed. Meanwhile the scammers have moved on to their next scam.

Oh no, now I have to tune up the chain saw again.

When are the AGW Fraudsters like the Fruit Fly Pimp Suzuki going to be prosecuted for fraud? Taxpayers should demand all of our wasted money back from all of the Fraudsters in government as well.....

This scraps must be related to the weather? Right?

Next extreme Aktion? Badger cull.

I still have my 2007 National Geographic special issue on global warming, to remind me why that rag isn't worth the price of a subscription.

Sorry for the double post.

Some climate scientists, such as Professor Phil Jones, director of the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, last week dismissed the significance of the plateau, saying that 15 or 16 years is too short a period from which to draw conclusions.

But weren't they basing a lot of their claims on just that, the warming period from 1980 to 1997? I guess the data are only correct if it fits their model.

Very good article, even if the editors diminished it with a photo of steam arising out of a nuclear power plant and labelling it "smoke".

"The new data, compiled from more than 3,000 measuring points on land and sea, was issued quietly on the internet, without any media fanfare, and, until today, it has not been reported"

In related news...authorities in Salem, Mass. have quietly released a report that shows that there was in fact no witches in Salem. We regret any "inconvenience" that this episode of hysteria may have cause some residents of our town.

But don't all you anti-AGW morons know that this study and all that preceded it were paid for by the large, greedy, polluting oil companies like ExxonMobil, etc.? sarc/off

I hope this does not lead to 16 years of global cooling. I'm afraid I have now seen the first sign of that.

Last years snow seen in September

All we need to start a new ice age is to have new snow accumulate over last years old snow. Again and again.

We'll be fighting the AGW crowd for many years to come. Once you've built your life around a delusion its very hard to give it up and once you have people in power realizing that they and their friends can make money from that delusion it's even harder for them to admit the truth.

Actually that is a combustion thermal plant.

There is clearly a stack....with no visible emmisions...as well as the steaming cooling towers/condensers.

Nuke plants or coal plants do not require cooling towers if they are next to a river/lake.....such as Courtright, Bruce, Nanticoke or Pickering.....

yes, and religious people are a prime example of this disease

Yeah yeah, yeah; so it did not warm much - you ALL should know that it was CAUSED by Mann-made Global Warming.

Mann-made Global Warming causes EVERYTHING - Hot/cold, wet/dry, up/down, good/bad, left/right, in/out,...

Something wacky with the temperatures in Lac le Matre, probably instrument errors.

It went from -1 to 23 in one hour then to -37 two hours later, and now back to 20 degrees.

Siting error?...possibly exposed to jet wash...?

No politician riding the proverbial gravy train wants to see it grind to a halt. When in history have you ever been able to tax absolutely nothing with the approval of the voters ? Taxing a .038% trace gas is a wet dream come true and they wont let it go without a fight even if it destroys what's left of Californias once booming economy.

That sucks. Another Ice Age is so much more likely, and would suck a lot worse than having a bit less winter in the northern hemisphere. Geologic history has shown that the conditions for an Ice Age can present themselves in a little over a decade if I remember correctly

Oh yeah? Well than how come there's no ice left in Arctic? (A journalist told me that on Monday.)

There are two technical error in the article:

1) The billowing vapour in the photograph is not smoke but steam, i.e. pure water, rising from the cooling towers.

2)The authoe has misinterpreted the graph. One does not establish a trend line by joining the two end points of a data sequence. Based on equal areas above and below the mean, the trend is actually downward, with a DECREASE of 0.1°C from 1997 to 2012.

The Arctic. Geebuz, I'm losing it.

A good article, but that claim of decreasing temps prior to 1980 is pretty suspect.

Does this mean we can demand the repeal of carbon taxes?
