Eating it Swedish style:
Annika Eriksson, a lunch lady at school in Falun, was told that her cooking is just too good.Pupils at the school have become accustomed to feasting on newly baked bread and an assortment of 15 vegetables at lunchtime, but now the good times are over.
Spit out those vegetables, Lars:
The municipality has ordered Eriksson to bring it down a notch since other schools do not receive the same calibre of food – and that is “unfair”.
A fair solution:
From now on, the school’s vegetable buffet will be halved in size and Eriksson’s handmade loafs will be replaced with store-bought bread.

Harrison Bergeron lives!
Yes. I could have titled it The Handicapper General.
The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings;
The inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.

ALL MUST BE MISERABLE IN ORDER TO BE FAIR.
RICH PEOPLE NEED TO SPREAD THEIR WEALTH SO THE MANA OF HEAVEN CAN BE UPON ALL OF US.
YOUR WEALTH IS OUR FUTURE.
DON'T BE A RACISTS RELECT OBAMA!
And don't forget it will cost more.
Yes, not to mention all that "unfair" pressure on other chefs in other schools to up their game a little and improve themselves, maybe even get a little more satisfaction from their job.
Socilaism and Leftists - the race to find the lowest common denominator.
But it's Education. We must level the playing field - even if it means hitting the clay.
By the way.
Is it not painfully obvious that this policy of "quality equalization" was brought on by the very lowest possible backbiting, liver stabbing, scumbag office politics imaginable? The one good chef makes all the others look like the useless w@nkers that they are, so they all whine to the Big Boss that Annika is unfair, that beeotch. To keep the anthill from boiling over Big Boss steps on Annika. Because quiet in the ranks is always more important than getting the job done, if you're a middle management p1ssant looking to keep your sinecure.
What kind of friggin' way to set policy is that, one asks? Its how policy ALWAYS is set in a socialist bureaucracy. Stupidly.
Expand to national scale and you get Greece. Or Canada, for that matter.
Yup, ever the way with unions. It's not that one cook was better than the others (which she obviously was), it's that she makes the others look bad. Uh.... no, they make themselves look bad. She makes herself look good, and those around her ("think of the children!") had been reaping the benefits.
The one good chef makes all the others look like the useless w@nkers that they are, so they all whine to the Big Boss that Annika is unfair, that beeotch.
Rather than asking Annika to teach them how to do the same things, which is what anybody with any pride in his job would do.
Like crabs in a bucket..
PS: There is vast historical precedent for this sort of thing, you know. One of the main contentious matters of dispute in labor negotiations in the manufacturing sector has always been the speed of the assembly line which unions always want geared to the slowest, least capable member on the line. In fact, workers on the floor who attempt to speed up and finish their part of the job early are unfailingly severely criticized by fellow workers and shop stewards to include threats of physical harm..
'Tyranny of lowered expectations: Everyone will be brought down! No one is allowed to excel!
The height of stupidity.
Uh, what I really meant was the depth of stupidity.
Iowa Jim said: "Rather than asking Annika to teach them how to do the same things, which is what anybody with any pride in his job would do."
The rule on slave galleys is "don't row". Penalty for breaking the rule is getting surreptitiously beaten to death by the other slaves when the overseers aren't looking.
This is the lowest most beastly form of human organization, and the reason why the world's religions are the natural enemies of socialism.
"Height" is perfectly apt too, batb.
Fearless Leader beat me to it.
The equality of socialism is one of poverty. Bringing everyone down to a lower level is more just than having some achieve or possess more than others.
As Thatcher put it on one of her last days in the British HOL, they [socialists] would rather the poor be poorer than see the wealthy become wealthier.
Aw the great old lowest common denominator.... The socialists dream come true.
You really can't make this stuff up!!!!!!
This is a perfect example of the mindset of the Left. They value "Equality" over top of everything else. It doesn't matter to them if everyone ends up in poverty, as long as they are equally in poverty.
Imagine constructing a family or a school or a company or an organization where constantly catering to the lowest common denominator is the raison d'être. Yet that's precisely the goal of the Leftist mindset. It's a sick cult.
Excelling in something is forbidden today. Lets ruin another generation shall we?
Well they've cut the vegetables in half; why don't they dice them as well?
Replaced the hand made bread with 'solidified sponge bath'; what could be better?
Of course they failed to finish off their policy trajectory... define and add chocolates and pastry as a food group; then make Phys Ed optional.
The coup de grace will be delivered by my wife:
"Remember to floss the teeth you want to keep...!"

That is EXACTLY what socialism means. Great example for the kids.
Ahhh... Ladas and participation ribbons to the masses.
The leaders will continue on in their Benzes
The powers-that-be have now backed off by blaming the lunch lady for the "misunderstanding."
That as we all know is an important fall-back maneuver in any bureaucrat's bag of tricks.
I think I need to move to Sweden
The food on offer does not always suit all pupils, she explained, and therefore she makes sure there are plenty of vegetables to choose from as well as proteins in the form of chicken, shrimp, or beef patties.
Her traditional Easter and Christmas smörgåsbords may also be under threat.
Parents and pupils alike find the municipality's orders distasteful
Thanks for that, Drained Brain.
Yeah, I'm sure that's what it's really about.
Socialist illogic withers in harsh de-ideologicalized daylight, even as they pass the buck:
A perfect example of the tall poppy syndrome.
All too common in bureaucratic and union settings.

In addition to EBD's comments:
"What we've said that the fruits and vegetables should be chosen according to season; it's a matter of taking environment and climate considerations into account," (Nutrition Project Leader Katarina) Lindberg is quoted as saying in the statement.
I wonder how many vegetables are in season within 100 miles of Sweden during the school year. That IS what they are getting at, isn't it?
It’s a long way down to equality with the third world, but Liberal Progressivism has us all well on our way.
Everyone like the Alberta meat packing plants shut down this month?
Wonder what’s going to happen to the thousands of Somalia’s, Nigerians and other African imports that handled 90% of Canada’s beef and brought Alberta’s beef industry to its knees with their third world handling of it.
And don't forget it will cost more.

Well clearly The Phantom understand the economics of government intervention.
Milton Friedman did a study back in the late 1960s concerning the economics of hospitals which had initially been overwhelmingly in the private sector but which over time became almost completely "public".
He discovered that with rising inputs came declining outputs.
Ahhh, yes. We must always sail with the slowest ship in the fleet under the "no ship left behind" mentality. The social engineers live to watch slow ships go by.
That's exactly how these leftist losers operate. We can't possibly meet your standards, so we'll pull you down to ours.
Of course it would never occur to the imbecilic socialists to have the chef train the other cooks. Nope must spread the misery and suffering equally, the founding principal of socialism.
I miss phil!!!!!
Every one should have their children read this to them , or have them do a report on this type of behavior . Let them see what Marxism really means. The lowest common denominator for all, but a hand full of chosen ones . You can bet the ones giving these orders, don't stint themselves of nothing but the best for themselves.
As Churchill said, socialism is the equal sharing of misery.
Fearless, Winston Churchill summed it up well.
Robert, "It is a sick cult", exactly.
This is the most idiotic thing I've seen in a long while. If there is one example one needs to prove that socialism is a mental illness, this is it. Whatever happened to: "from each according to his ability and to each according to his need"? They can't even get basic Marxist principles right.
This type of thinking, had it been around a few billion years ago, would mean that the most evolved organisms on earth would be bacterial biofilms. Presumably the biofilms would all have the identical structure and any deviations percieved as too good would be rapidly extirpated.
What I wonder is why socialists don't deal with some of the things they're "too good" at. For example, Stalin was too good in killing off Ukrainians, Mao Tse Tung was too good in killing off Chinese and the Khmer Rouge were far too good in killing off anyone who wore spectacles or was suspected of reading. Socialist logic would dictate that these individuals should be limited to the same number of kills as kindred psychopaths like Clifford Olson. Likely bringing up inconsistencies in socialism is a quick way to get a bullet to the back of the head as the unstated maxim in socialism is that all people are equal except some are much more equal than others.
We don't know whether the kids will get their bread, but we do know that Sweden is toast.
