In dishonour of SDA's most annoying, angry troll, tonight we present a series of videos designed to drive him/her/it apoplectic: 1, 2, 3, & 4. Hopefully it'll have a similar effect that Bug-Off does on mosquitoes!
All examples of farming related, or non-farm related, reader tips you'd like to share would be much appreciated in the comments.

I know squat about farming or ranching but am surrounded by both where I live. Nicest, most down to earth people in the world as far as I'm concerned. Proud to know them and even prouder that they consider the wife and I as friends and neighbors.

The happy troll should consider playing FARMVILLE for hours of fun that will keep them playfully distracted; from harming the real cows.

They say, don’t mess with Texas.
The UN freeloaders want a vacation in Texas, pretending to watch over the voting process.
The Sec. of State differs:
Texas sparks international row with election observers
http://thehill.com/blogs/global-affairs/un-treaties/264121-texas-sparks-international-row-with-election-observers
“Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott further fueled the controversy on Tuesday when he sent a letter to the OSCE warning the organization that its representatives “are not authorized by Texas law to enter a polling place” and that it “may be a criminal offense for OSCE’s representatives to maintain a presence within 100 feet of a polling place's entrance.”
And gov. Perry agrees:
….. “No UN monitors/inspectors will be part of any TX election process; I commend @Txsecofstate for swift action to clarify issue.”
My grandfather wasn't a farmer but he was of the same stock. He is resting at the bottom of Lake Superior right now because he was doing his job as a marine engineer in 1937 trying to deliver his load. He was a man who knew of the value of an honest job and didn't figure this country owed him anything, in fact he thought he owed this new country for the opportunity to contribute to his new homeland. SS Neebing in October 1937 went down in a Lake Superior Storm near Nipigon. BTW, my grandmother never remarried or went on assistance. She borded out rooms to fellow seamen who needed a place to call home when ashore. She spoke Polish but insisted her family and their children speak English of this new land. I never had the opportunity to meet my grandfather.
Funny, these new immigrants wanted to speak English and contribute to their new society. They kept their traditions, foods and culture. Now in Thunder bay as before I left there over 40 years ago, you can still find ethnic restaurant, community centres and events that celebrate their contribution to the mosaic of Canada. And guess what? It isn't only Polish that are eating the cabbage rolls and perogie with their neighbours but the Finns and their pancakes and karjalanpiirakka, karjalanpaisti, lohiperunalaatikko, pulla, suolakala, riisipuuro, kalakeitto, hernekeitto and Finnish weiners. I'm damned if I can pronounce what is on the menu but is all tastes good, as does the stuff at the Polish hall, Italian Hall and such. These are the folks and true Canucks that asked "What can we contribute to this new country?"
New census numbers on the major working languages for 2010 show an alarming trend. It's not that they are speaking in one of the two "official" languages but rather a lot of other languages has worked into the languages of commerce.
Be very afraid Ottawa as challenges to Arabic at the HRC will be along soon.
To be fair to phil, farmers do get buckets of subsidy, especially in America. It's not always monetary sometimes it's in form of cheap grazing land or water. They are a very powerful special interest.
If only phil were here to read this....
Bloody town of Milton, Ontario - Canada's fastest growing, I think - is building houses over some fantastic farmland in Southern Ontario. Soon it'll butt up to Oakville, Mississauga, and the base of the Niagara Escarpment.
Kate, that interview with Glenn Beck and Charles Woods has to go viral. The statement he read on the air. Beck had tears in his eyes:
“I want to honor my son, Ty Woods, who responded to the cries for help and voluntarily sacrificed his life to protect the lives of other Americans. In the last few days it has become public knowledge that within minutes of the first bullet being fired the White House knew these heroes would be slaughtered if immediate air support was denied. Apparently, C-130s were ready to respond immediately. In less than an hour, the perimeters could have been secured and American lives could have been saved. After seven hours fighting numerically superior forces, my son’s life was sacrificed because of the White House’s decision. This has nothing to do with politics, this has to do with integrity and honor. My son was a true American hero. We need more heroes today. My son showed moral courage. This is an opportunity for the person or persons who made the decision to sacrifice my son’s life to stand up.”
In the least surprising admission ever Obama admits he's not very good at math.

My fondest memories of the farm are in 1968 and going up into the hay loft of the big red barn with the neighbour`s daughter. She said, "I have something to show you." A word of advice to all of you who farm boys who bale straw. If you see a patch of russian thistles, go around it.
Is it considered feeding the troll if I say "ok...it's phil...not you (this time)"

Dairy and the other SM sector farmers literally have Licence to print money. They as anti free market as anything that Stalinists could have envisioned. They should be derided by those who believe and love freedom - not praised.

Any farmer would be excedingly happy with the return on investment that a govt worker, auto plant worker,or a bevy of other high paying jobs return with ZERO investment. Most farm subsidies only subsidize the consumer with low grocery prices.Try working all summer with no income and a ton of expenses growing a crop and then sell that crop just to pay off the loans incured plus payments on the machines and land rent, especially when the interest was in the 20% range.
Rolling Stone interview with Barack Obama:
Have you ever read Ayn Rand?
Sure.
What do you think Paul Ryan’s obsession with her work would mean if he were vice president?
Well, you’d have to ask Paul Ryan what that means to him. Ayn Rand is one of those things that a lot of us, when we were 17 or 18 and feeling misunderstood, we’d pick up. Then, as we get older, we realize that a world in which we’re only thinking about ourselves and not thinking about anybody else, in which we’re considering the entire project of developing ourselves as more important than our relationships to other people and making sure that everybody else has opportunity – that that’s a pretty narrow vision. It’s not one that, I think, describes what’s best in America. Unfortunately, it does seem as if sometimes that vision of a “you’re on your own” society has consumed a big chunk of the Republican Party.

This CBC poll could use some help.
Q: What do you ☭think☭ of the CBC?
Germany invades Poland and Czechoslovakia (with unwanted wind-turbine electricity). Sorry, I couldn't resist the historical reference.
"Germany is dumping electricity on its unwilling neighbors and by wintertime the feud should come to a head. The power grids in Eastern Europe are stretched to their limits and face potential blackouts when output surges from German wind turbines. Central and Eastern European countries are moving to disconnect their power lines from Germany’s during the windiest days. That’s when they get flooded with energy, echoing struggles seen from China to Texas over accommodating the world’s 200,000 windmills...
The problem may intensify with the approaching winter. With an insufficient north-south connection, Germany’s power network came close to a collapse last February when high winds in the Baltic sea flooded it with power and the Czech Republic and Poland threatened to disconnect their grids. The coming winter can be critical, German Economy Minister Philipp Roesler said last week.

"China blocks The New York Times after investigation exposes Premier Wen Jiabao’s massive fortune"
"The family of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, a leader known for his humble roots and compassion for ordinary people, has accumulated massive wealth during his time in power, The New York Times reported on Friday.
“A review of corporate and regulatory records indicates that the prime minister’s relatives, some of whom have a knack for aggressive deal-making, including his wife, have controlled assets worth at least $2.7-billion,” it said.
The Times’ websites in English and Chinese were blocked in China on Friday morning, and searches for The New York Times as well as the names of Wen’s children and wife were blocked on China’s main Twitter-like microblog service.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei told a daily briefing the report “smears China’s name and has ulterior motives.”
Asked why the websites were blocked, Hong said: “China manages the Internet in accordance with laws and rules.”"

The evisceration of Michael Mann.
"Geir Lundestad, Director, Professor, of The Norwegian Nobel Institute emailed me back with the following:
1) Michael Mann has never been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
2) He did not receive any personal certificate. He has taken the diploma awarded in 2007 to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (and to Al Gore) and made his own text underneath this authentic-looking diploma.
3) The text underneath the diploma is entirely his own. We issued only the diploma to the IPCC as such. No individuals on the IPCC side received anything in 2007.
Lundestad goes on to say that, "Unfortunately we often experience that members of organizations that have indeed been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize issue various forms of personal diplomas to indicate that they personally have received the Nobel Peace Prize. They have not."

Just did an Angus Reid online poll about infertility treatments. You can expect the BC Liberals to announce that, as part of their Families First strategy, that they will fund in-vitro fertilization treatments. As an adoptive parent I wonder how Christy Clark thinks this will make me feel. Will she next reimburse me for the $60,000 we spent on adoption fees and expenses? I'd like some free government cash, too, ya know.
Considering age is the #1 reason for infertility among women is it really up to the government to facilitate a woman's choice to delay children until they're 40?
Maybe the BC Liberals can just stay out of my bedroom.

So instead of paying 5% they have to pay something more like 30%, and that will drive Liberal MPs to crime? How utterly bizarre.
