The New York Times' Public Editor Margaret Sullivan recently criticized the paper for putting its reporting of the second day of Congressional hearings on Benghazi on page three, instead of making it a main page news story. The managing editor told Margaret Sullivan that "there were six better stories (that day)."

The six front page NYT news reports that supplanted the story of the Congressional hearings into the circumstances of the Benghazi murder included one on cyclist Lance Armstrong – who was apparently all dopey-like, in retrospect, in terms of his white blood cell count – and a story on a woman in Tennessee who died of meningitis.

That was the second day. The New York Times' news report on the first day of the Congressional hearings on the Benghazi massacre was buried on the *10th* page.

The first thing the 60ish grandma who runs the place said (without knowing my political preferences and without me saying anything or laughing or the like) while chuckling was, "That Joe Biden's got a big mouth. I know as a Libertine nutbar you view the world as a place without borders, but freedom of association is a right guaranteed to Canadian citizens within Canada and the Canadian government has the right to bar entry into Canada to any foreigner they view as a secuirty risk to Canadians.
In fact, it is the duty of our government to do so.

That said, I like Terry Jones and I hope he lives a long healthy life and burns as many korans as it takes to pursue life, liberty, and happiness on his part while he stays in the good ole' U.S. of A.

The Canadian-American border isn't arbitrary, although it has it's inconveniences, and a foreign national's right to cross the border is at the discretion of our government agents who are tasked to, among other things, protect our security.
And yes, our security overrides a foreigner's freedom to enter.
If you, LAS, or anyone else wants to leave Canada in order to associate with Terry Jones I have no doubt that the Canadian government will permit you to do so.

There is no right of association, but there is freedom of association, which is not the same as freedom of assembly.
Freedom of association means that if an agent of the government observed me associating with you, LAS, that the government agent would not think that I was a chucklehead just because the agent knew that you are. It has nothing to do with movement over an international border, it’s about not having the other person’s reputation/dealings imputed to you through simple association.

Last summer while riding my bike in the countryside I came across a snapping turtle trying to cross the road. I found a big stick and pushed it across to the water filled ditch on the other side (not picking that critter up).

In Crete and other places he saw many, many abandoned buildings while under construction. He, as I, can not understand what possible use smashing your own nest serves.
