New York Times still blames YouTube video for Libyan ‘riots’

There's an interesting thing about the Benghazi attack. Go here:
http://www.usembassy.gov/

Benghazi is not listed, only Tripoli. It is not and never was a Consulate. It does not and never did have the sovereign status of an embassay. It's always referred to by the State Department as a Mission and this difference is important.

It's just a piece of property that the State Department owns or leases. If it was used for trafficking Libyan arms stockpiles to Syrian rebels, then they couldn't do that on US sovereign territory. Then it's accountable. This was a black op after all. Hence the two big warehouss on the property that the US goverment and the media have yet to mention. And State can hardly admit that they're running an illegal arms smuggling operation, now can they?

And because it's a black op, that's why the ambassador had such an inadequate security team. Got to keep limited the number of observers and witnesses. And it's also why the US couldn't intervene as it was going down despite having realtime video and audio. There's no violation of US sovereign territory involved. It could be Iran-Contra all over again, except this time the US field agent and his team were killed.

Thus the outrageous lies and cover-up.

cgh, that is an incredibly damning bit of information. Where did you pick that up from? THAT is going to be the info that brings this arrogant criminal SOB down.

grok, as any normal person cgh connected the dots.

The deflection (read outright lies) of the administration over Benghazi strongly suggests there was more going on there than meets the eye. The arms to Syria angle is gaining some traction but the media are basically circling the wagons until the election is over.

I'm not given to conspiracy theories, but I would be lying if I said I haven't wondered if the administration is complicit in Stevens' death. He was calling for more security, warning of problems. One wonders if he was en route to Benghazi to find out the truth and the admin told Al Qaeda where to find him. Again, total conspiracy theory crap for now.

One hopes time will bring all the sordid details to light.

I tell you one thing that is certain: the administration had that hitherto unknown, poorly made, junk video ready as their explanation well prior to the incident in Benghazi. It was their "just in case things go pear shaped" deflection story. Everyone knew the song, everyone knew the lines, they all went on camera and promulgated the lies like little birdies.

grok, I was just curious because the State Dept. kept referring to it as a "Mission". Government releases are always precise in their terminology. If it was a Consulate, they would have called it exactly that.

So I just went and looked it up.

Mark, that conspiracy theory is highly unlikely. There's dozens of groups in Syria fightng the Assad regime, most of which hate each other. My bet is that Obama's boys were shipping or about to ship weapons to someone al Quaeda doesn't like.

Remember, Obama thinks that he too like Bush can promote democracy in the region. The difference between him and Bush is that he doesn't believe it can be done except through local proxies.

al Quaeda of course is as anti-democratic and anti-civil rights as you can get. So the issue becomes not whether or not Assad is overthrown but making sure that al Qaeda's faction wins. And since eastern Libya is a huge recruiting ground for them...

Remember too what al Qaeda's ultimate goal is. It's not the eradication of the West. It's the eradication of Western influences in the Arab world and the establishment of the Califate. The last thing al Qaeda wants is an American-supported faction to be successful in Syria. Bumping off a small US black base and arranging cover demonstrations in a bunch of destabilized Arab nations is trivial for them to coordinate. But the notion that al Qaeda is strong enough to organize a multi-nation operation is anathema to the Obama clique. It runs counter to Obama's propaganda that al Qaeda is on the run. And it's counter to the notion that the Arab Spring was an unequivocal "Good Thing". So it had to be covered up.

Oh, and that al Qaeda attacker in the assault on the Benghazi compound was arrested en route to Turkey. So it all adds up, at least circumstantially.

The Gray Slut still turning the same tricks.

What I found astounding was that the top general of the US, Martin Dempsey, actually telephoned the weird Pastor Terry Jones on Sept 12/12. to get Jones to stop publicly supporting the video.

worth reading the whole thing, including blue links:

And to think the only reason we had to help these “Rebels”(al Qaeda insurgents really) beat Kaddafi was because France screwed up and recognized the “Rebels” as the new de facto government of Libya just as Kaddafi was on the verge of crushing them in....wait for it....Benghazi!

That's not new, Oz. The only reason we got involved in former Yugoslavia's civil war for 10 years was because of Germany's premature recognition of Slovenia.
