Firemen in Chicago in 1871 were not carrying as much water as the media is for Obama.

About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

One wonders whether the damage level will equal the Great Chicago Fire should the "Obama-Nation(tm)" be successful in his entreaties to the voting public?
Eventually the city determined that the fire destroyed an area about four miles (6 km) long and averaging 3/4 mile (1 km) wide, encompassing more than 2,000 acres (810 ha). Destroyed were more than 73 miles (117 km) of roads, 120 miles (190 km) of sidewalk, 2,000 lampposts, 17,500 buildings, and $222 million in property—about a third of the city's valuation. Of the 300,000 inhabitants, 100,000 were left homeless. Between two and three million books were destroyed from private library collections.[8] The fire was said by The Chicago Daily Tribune to have been so fierce that it surpassed the damage done by Napoleon's siege of Moscow in 1812.[9] Some buildings did survive the fire, such as the then-new Chicago Water Tower, one of five public buildings and a bungalow that survived within the disaster zone. The O'Leary home and Holy Family Church, their parish church, were both saved by shifts in the wind.
This one is pretty instructive as well:
'Obama to announce that he'll abandon his "leading from behind" foreign policy strategy in favor of his new strategy of "trailing from ahead"'.

Water?
Takes more than water to put out those fires.
I mean, how do you suppress the smell of bullshit with just water?
Maybe someone should start a "Send a bucket to Candy" initiative.
I have admired Dennis for a long time as a voice of reason with a good dose humour thrown in.

TV and print news media are bleeding cash from every orifice, the public trust them less than at any prior point previously.. the chatterati know that this election is winner take all.
I hope they weep and tear their garments when Mitt wins in November...
Let's hope there are splenty of media types in Chicago on the evening of Nov 6th. The remake of the great Chicago fire is about to happen - without the help of any cow.
different bob- You leave Candy Crowley out of this! :D)
The Chicago Fire was not an outlyer of the time.
Here in nearby Woodstock a fire in the same period razed the town.
The reconstruction followed the pattern of Old London's reconstruction....brick construction with 3-4 brick thick, un-pierced fire walls extending well above the roofs.
Recent fires in these districts have shown the wisdom of the architecture and the insanity of forcing connecting openings between the buildings.
The Detroit Fires demonstrated the problem of mass arson and then the paradox...how is burning your neighbour-hoods down, gonna influence outsiders. It's sorta like a Samauri commiting Hari-Kiri to shame a Shogun....as if he would care....
Oh ya...I recall in my youth hearing of some Dhoukabors torching their own homes then running about starkers....
Miller had a good line on Joe Biden after Joe's race baiting,
"the stuff inside his head makes sawdust look like beluga caviar"
My favorite display of the media's left-advocacy and hatred of anything right of Castro, was in last night's so called debate – First we are to believe a card carrying Dem activist from CNN moderated (and ran interference for Obama when he was confronted with a recent scandal), and the crowd of "undecided" voters in the studio who were either single issue entitlement axe-grinders or Left-wing NGO zombies (like the gun-ban woman anguishing over "AK47s" when none have ever been used in a US domestic crime) or the ACORN douche who was worried Romney will "return us to Bush days" was what constituted an unbiased form - never have I seen a more media stage managed attack on a single candidate in my years of watching these media prostitutes.
It is now impossible for an American to make an informed electoral; decision if they get their political info from this biased media cartel.

You know what they say...Candy's dandy, the ticker's quicker but Steyn don't rot your mind...
I don't think of Steyn as a Journalist. More like a humorist bearing a writers cramp.Like Mark Twain in depth, with Will Rogers political Ghost channeling him.
Hes no ordinary hack by any means. Even his obituaries could make Scrooge into a human being.Hes a rare man in these turbulent times thats sees so clearly, the follies of his age.
I don't think of Steyn as a Journalist...
Posted by: Revnant Dream at October 17, 2012 8:29 PM
Me either. Definitly a phrophet, but certainly not a journalist. Especially a modern journalist.
Karl, I think we should send her a tank, a toilet tank, cause she's clearly in the tank for Obama.
And your idea is a good one.
We should have website where we can donate money to send silly things to people like this.
I can't believe the faux outrage over the binders full of women "gaffe". Can someone please explain what exactly is offensive or gaffe worthy here?
To be clear...I think of Mark Steyn as a journalist in the tradition of Mark Twain, not the pejorative that "journalist" has become today.
Hans
If Obama loses, than the black riots happen which they inevitably will. It will make your post card discrimination of the resulting fire quint. Chicago afterwards out to send the survivors to Detroit after they burn down their own Neighborhoods as they did.
That Candy Crowley dipped her oar in and only to be corrected later on hopefully should affect voters.
CC beclowned herself and the post debate walk back only made it worse. I hope you're right Osumashi but I fear most folks didn't spot the blatant suckholery.
Dennis Miller is essentially Rex Murphy with better hair.

Go ahead, anybody, I have never tweeted.
The MSM ran out of water to carry and are now launching a mission to Mars to mine the polar icecaps.
Rumor has it they've recruited noted astronaut Neill Young.
Neil Young......that's funny Syncrodox
I tend think of neil young as a space cadet well past his prime.
Yea James, Calgarys QR 770 has an afternoon twit who was wailing about that quote, seems she was mad that the husband wasn't home making a meal while his wife was working for Romneys company, the idiot went so far to say Romneys companies never made any women partners, the old dying media has more idiots than every nut house in the world, the fool in Calgary is just one more of the urnalists who just don't see that crying wolf and spewing leftie BS is what is causing the bleeding of red ink, look at the dopey Newsweek's circulation when they swung to the right for a coupple of issues.
Hey my boss is a woman, and a engineer.
Not that there's anything wrong...
where's that binder?
Crowley let Obama get away with doubletalk or she didn't understand the context of what Obama said WRT terrorism, which was a motherhood tag-on that accompanies all speeches of this type. I think she got a tip from the Dems and dropped the ball big time, agreeing with a spurious debater claim. She should have known better; hint: she does know better. She did, however, illustrate clearly the fawning bias of the MSM in a very noticeable way.
Never mind, Obama simply postponed his foreign policy reckoning at debate3, where he can explain his point more clearly, that he actually believed AQ conducted the attack and said so from day one. Good luck with that one, maybe Candy can be your debating coach. This Obama "double down" is a doomed attempt the divert the voter from his negligent foreign affair disengagement (that worked well with Bubba taking on Bin Laden, right?).
Here's an accurate description of the failed foreign policy of the Obama administration:
http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/330771/dazed-and-deceptive-libya-roy-blunt
Obama was once asked how good his administration really was. He responded that well, it was as good as the Lincoln presidency (yeah, ET he said that). I wonder now if, though he wasn't the target, if his administration will also be ended by an assissination?
Anyone who would stand up and say that Candy Crowley and any of the other left wing moderaters of these debates were fair or impartial has to be drinking Obamas bath water. This was an attempt at a hatchet job of the first magnetude.Obamas performance in the first debate was so deplorable that the left ensured that he would have an advantage[by the name of Candy Crowley]as a way of redeeming himself in the second debate.Even with that huge advantage he barely managed to squeeze out a tie, even taking into consideration the obvious predjudice of what had to pass for a moderater.
Barry's administration has been assassinated and he pulled the trigger.
I don't know, syncrodox.
Binders? Big Bird? God, how brainless are these people?!
What Barry did was stick his foot in his mouth, repeatedly, and then when the foot was good and stuck, he shot himself in the foot.
History will record that it was a mercy killing.
Good question Osumashi.
One notch above Amoeba but I don't think they're feeling it this time around. Demo turnout will be way down if things continue...despite the MSM.
Having Obama lose is only half the pleasure. The other half is watching his supporters having fits of rage and denial.
Seriously, if this election could be bought, I'd have paid more than I already have.
"return us to Bush days"
How would that be a bad thing?
I'd like leftists to tell me
as pretty much everything back then was better than after 4 years of Obama...
"if his administration will also be ended by an assissination?"
Shamrock I know that was a typo but since it sounds like asinine ( utter foolishness ), it got me thinking,
Maybe someday we will say; Obama's administration died of "asinination" ?...
