A direct Rogers-vs-Bell showdown, and CRTC slaps down Rogers and rules for Bell. I wonder if this foreshadows the decision on Bell's acquisition of Astra; Bell must be throwing around more favours than Rogers.

I have an American satellite dish on my deck. I get hundreds of channels for $20 a month. If Bell or Rogers want my business back they are going to have to come up with something pretty good.

The Rogers and Bell and CRTC fight is like two men fighting over a deck chair on the titanic. No one under the age of 40 watches network television. It's all netflix and youtube etc. That's the wave of the future. This problem solves itself. These people can argue about what we're allowed to watch and what companies can compete with who all they want because I'm not watching it anyway. As long as the government keeps out of the internet then the CRTC will become increasingly irrelevant. BTW the CRTC is a Bell stooge that's why they ruled against Rogers but again who cares.

Las, this is Canada 2012 - we have had about 7o years of socialism rampaging all over this nation (look at the Premiers of the provinces for proof). Canada has had medicare for 50+ years!! This is a Titanic of pinko people not a rowboat of Bolsheviks.

Count on the few blessings us liberty minded patriots have ever had in our history: a Liberty minded PM with some MPs who are willing to help him set this country free. This is Canadian TV we're talking about here, it sucks and will always suck. What did that ruling cost; a million dollars for tax payers? 500,000? What ever it is they're talking about an entertainment show that nobody watches and has nothing to do with government. All to support one of three gigantic media gubmint enforced monopolies in Canada against one of the other two.

I expect Harper to behave like every Prime Minister since Trudeau (I cut it off there because PET was the first one I remember with any clarity), pass his agenda for two years (half a year left...) and then focus on winning the next election.

I do not expect him to do anything about the CRTC, the HRC, the CBC, Senate reform, significant spending cuts, actually reducing the size of the federal government payroll (including contractors and consultants), making the provinces responsible for their own areas of jurisdiction, stop bribing Quebec with my money, or reducing taxes.

The 'cuts' were reduced transfers to the provinces for health and education. The Liberanos stole the UI fund from taxpayers, the public servant's pension fund from the public servants to supply themselves with spending money esp. money to bribe pipples in Kebec. They used cash - in paper bags.

The CRTC, the CBC, anything that can be said to be "cultural" or "arts" will be the last things the CPC government tackles. They learned from the howling that arose in 2008 when they attempted to reduce funding for some (not all), arts programs.

Besides, Ottawa's a very big swamp. Lots of bigger alligators in there than the CRTC.

The only legitimate role the CRTC can play is enforcing ownership of frequencies. That's it.
