I read an article today on the signs of a decadent society, where the citizens spend all their time and effort on idiotic, trivial nonsense. It bears notice that a direct consequence of decadence, in society is a hugely inefficient bureaucracy.

Dog shows may be idiotic to you.

Certain social programs, hate laws, public education, etc (the list is very long) are idiotic to many SDA readers.

The difference is that while you are free to never attend a dog show, and can play Dungeons and Dragons in front of the mirror as long as you want ... we have no choice but to fund the bureaucratic nonsense.

Case in point, I know an Ottawa public servant who was in charge of setting a fair price for lap dances. She sat about 20 strippers in a room and they tried to come up with a fair price. Even she, a loopy headed PS --- knew it was a ridiculous exercise.

The sad thing is, I bet many can top that with an even more ridiculous example.
