Not knowing exactly what was taking place, the two SEALs set up a defensive perimeter. Unfortunately Ambassador Stevens was already gravely injured, and Foreign Service officer, Sean Smith, was dead. However, due to their quick action and suppressive fire, twenty administrative personnel in the embassy were able to escape to safety. Eventually, these two courageous men were overwhelmed by the sheer numbers brought against them, an enemy force numbering between 100 to 200 attackers which came in two waves. But the stunning part of the story is that Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty killed 60 of the attacking force. Once the compound was overrun, the attackers were incensed to discover that just two men had inflicted so much death and destruction.

to the "embassy" and a seeming ignorance that Woods and Doherty were killed at the CIA annex, several hours after and a mile away from where Smith and Stevens* died.
*Note: there are also reports that Stevens was alive when he reached the hospital.

Think about this. These SEALs disobeyed an order from POTUS to stand down in order to save 20 or 30 American civilians. Had they lived they would be applauded by the media as heroes and these men would then have to tell the media that they disobeyed a POTUS order to leave 30 American civilians to die at the hands of the Islamic mob--that would have been the end of any hope for Obama to be re-elected. By allowing these brave men to die, the administration was hoping to keep the lid on the events at least until after the election.

If I remember correctly, the Congressional Medal of Honor is awarded by congress and presented by the President in the name of Congress. I don't know if the President could veto the award if he wanted to.

One of the reasons they acted was because they were civilians. Basically they they quit their contract job. Another reason is that they were ex enlisted. Not career potitical officers. Enlisted fight. Also they were NCO's. They could think and act for themselves. And ofcourse, ex-SEALS.
Meanwhile, bus loads OS careerists officers did nothing that would risk a promotion, nor make a name and honorable reputation. Clerks and messenger boys.

There are two paths to generalship, heroic or political, when you are in a foxhole or in this case a rooftop, politics is a mute point. General Carter Ham had men that would follow him into hell, Doherty and Woods knew this and figured they had a chance, heroes don't leave their own behind. The only reason General Ham stood down was that he was unarmed, the messenger and his escorts were, you can bet on it. This makes me sick.

Judge Jeanine on Fox has just interviewed U.S. military experts. When asked how they would characterize Obama's role in the Benghazi deaths, they in turn said "a disgrace," "unacceptable," "cowardly," and "culpable negligence."
The more I read about this Benghazi Affair, the more I see Obambi culpable. He is, after all, C-in-C of the American military. Until I see explicit proof contra, I hold him directly and personally responsible. I hope the American people feel the same way.
