The big concern in an ongoing way is the ridiculous level of compliance in the west (Spain in this case) to the demands of minority Islamists.
It's difficult to imagine that a four percent minority of, I don't know, freckled Scots in Riyadh would so greatly affect not only the public policy, but the cultural foundations of Saudi Arabia.

If you have doubts you can always check with the happy Christians in Islamic countries to verify how well we get along.

I read somewhere that it won't be the cops or even our military who will Western society from the Muslims...but the bikers and 1% who will actually go head to head with the Muslims...and use the same tactics they use on us. Unfortunately, the state will use all their powers against these "criminals" by prosecuting them--for "hate" crimes, etc. The end result will be enclaves of Western people protected by the bikers where the cops will fear to tread. He's undoing the morass that the Liberals gave us, which set up Canada as 'Hotel Canada', a free second home for people whose allegiance was to some foreign nation and culture and who simply used Canada for its freedom, its welfare, its health care, but offered nothing in return.

At the time I wondered why they didn't just take the bus or even a cab to Damascus. I guess they didn't have a couple hours spare time. Or maybe they wanted a free vacation in Canada. When Canadians evacuated Libya a year or so ago, the government took them as far as Malta and they were on their own.
Any guesses on how many of those "Canadians" in Lebanon are collecting family allowance, GST credit etc. and keep their Canadian health insurance current but pay no taxes. I suspect a lot of them.
Scar - I'd say a fair number of them. The tactic is to have a fake address in Canada, which is even used by a number of families; this sets up residency. This practice is common to many immigrant groups who network and help each other deal with the issues of false residency etc.

The Europeans have a history of extreme violence. There have been numerous blood lettings: Thirty Years War (1618-1648), Spanish Succession and Seven Years War (1740-1763), French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars (1792-1815), the Great War and Russian Revolution (1914-1921), Spanish Civil War and then WWII (1936-1945).
It is a matter of time before the next one. Question is when and which side will have the upper hand when it occurs.

Current pope Benedict XVI was head of the inquisition, now Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, formerly the Holy Office. They gave up banning books because it made them bestsellers. I am sure he has some useful ideas on modernizing the inquisition (but remember witches, heretics, protestants, orthodox, jews and moslems are all grist to the inquisition mill).

Thin edge of the wedge. I had hoped for a more responsible reaction, as in f**k you! In Santa Ponca, just 30 or so kilometers to the west of Palma, they have a medieval festival every September. The centerpiece of the festival is a parade and re-enactment of the expulsion of the Moors by the Christians some 400 or so years ago. The problem here, as I see it, is the illegal immigration of north African Muslims who are infecting southern Europe with their extremist religion. Time to re-enact the original expulsion.

Were you aware, that with only 10 years' "proven" residency, upon reaching age 65, an immigrant can receive (at least 10/40ths of the full OAS pension? But that's not the real prize - that belongs to the GIS (Guaranteed Income Supplement) which is in the $1,000 per month per person range. A ton of money if you're back living in your "home" country where the average income might be a couple of grand a year!

-although I no longer live in Spain I read the press daily and stories such as these are not covered by the national press, so mostly only the locals (I mean in this case Palma) are aware of this.
-Spain is largely a lawless society as far as petty theft and misdemeanours is concerned, there are millions of illegals and theft/burglary is in effect accepted and if say a burglar is arrested he will be released within hours and continue his work. A municipal police officer carries no weight and at best can only issue a fine, parking officials are ignored unless of course you are a law-abiding citizen who is in the system. So if a private company contracted to issue parking fines is harrassed by the culturally enriched the practical solution is to have an only-men crew.
-there are 2 big unions, the political wing of their respective parties: UGT (PSOE-socialist) and CCOO (IU-communist). When the local UGT are complaining you know it´s an issue within the rank and file of their members, even if it is PC-articulated as a feminist issue without no mention if islam.
As to the dhimmi issue: it will never happen, at least in the sense of Eurabia. One thing Spaniards have in their favour is their cynicism towards govt and authority which Northern Europeans lack. The questions are: will the tipping point arrive, when, and how ugly the response will be.
