The Sound Of Settled Science

Via WUWT;

Today, the official arbiter of Earth’s weather records, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), announced that the all-time heat record held for exactly 90 years by El Azizia in Libya “is invalid because of an error in recording the temperature.” The WMO committee found five major problems with the measurement.

Most seriously, the temperature was measured in a paved courtyard over a black, asphalt-like material by a new and inexperienced observer, not trained in the use of an unsuitable replacement instrument that could be easily misread.

DUH!!!

How can modern instrumentation not have a digital readout?

"How can modern instrumentation not have a digital readout?" LAS

That is one stupid Statement LAS... All Digital data was/is converted from Analog...Your Digital world only exists in your mind...

Valid Calibration is a MUST!

It was 90 years old wouldn't have been digital then.
Now the warmists can say is that it is warmer now because that earlier record is gone get rid of the evidence you don't want.
Finding a mistake after that long, doubtful

Do they really know the exact circumstances of one only temperature reading 100 years ago or are they just making up $hit? Do we know the exact circumstances of the millions of temperature readings taken before and since so we can evaluate each one? I suspect not.

I think you are missing the important part of the tale. The new instrument at Badwater,Death Valley seems to have been sited in the exact spot to produce a new world record temperature reading. Even though there is an existing instrument, Furnace Creek, located nearby in a more suitable site that has shown little warming since the 50s. This new Badwater site will eventually produce a new record and there will be the doom-screeching by journalists about how this proves C-AGW and we therefore must...MUST submit to new taxes and energy rationing.

If I am reading the WUWT post correctly, climate scientists' are engaged in manipulating the process as follows:
Step 1 - erase Libya heat record
Step 2- place new instrument in area naturally designed to magnify heat.
Step 3- wait for new record at Badwater
Step 4- send our already written press releases to naive, science-challenged journalists.

So basically, they are actively attempting to create a new heat record for political purposes.

"Most seriously, the temperature was measured in a paved courtyard over a black, asphalt-like material by a new and inexperienced observer, not trained in the use of an unsuitable replacement instrument that could be easily misread."

... after he had just finished torching the adjacent building and yelling "Allah Akbar" "

Oh, I'm sorry, did I just say that out loud?

I am not sure about "Allah Akbar" but the newest ME crisis seems to be as manipulated and artificial as the Badwater site. Everyone (Muslims, the media, war-cons, PC progressives, the Xtian-phobic, politicians, etc) are reacting as if they were actors playing in a straight-to-video movie. Tragically, the number of casualties will be all too real as this spreads.
