About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

World English Dictionary
bittersweet (ˈbɪtəˌswiːt)
— adj
3. tasting of or being a mixture of bitterness and sweetness
4. pleasant but tinged with sadness (to describe 911????????? really????)
defn: bittersweet
2. pleasant but tinged with sadness
I'm not sure what kind of chocolate Joe Biden is eating but I'm pretty sure that Sept 11 for most Americans was anything but pleasant...
The gaffe meter has 'red lined', I'm sure we'll hear a correction post haste.

Do we really have nothing better to do than have a kneejerk mocking reaction to Biden's use of a word which accurately portrays the thought he was trying to convey? He wasn't suggesting that 9/11 wasn't horrible. The "sweet" part is remembering the lives of those who were lost.
This post is more typical of the disingenuous mocking you'd see coming from the MSM. Have some class.
I think he's a moron too, but in fairness, I think what he's trying to say is that the heroics of the flight 93 passengers tinge his sadness with pride. Bittersweet was a dumb choice of words, but I don't think it betrays any happiness about 9-11 in general.
Similarly:
. . . three proud words: Made in the U.S.A.
and NBC chose to forgo the minute of silence to 'remember'..........chose to do interview with a Kardashian, and discuss her boob-job! See Breitbart.
Poor choice of words on Biden's part, but the sentiment was right.
Definitely not an event I would want to sully with cheap, partisan sniping however.
Oh, God, I read the header and thought he'd resigned.
Definitely not an event I would want to sully with cheap, partisan sniping however.

It is unfortunate that the Left has politicized everything, and I do mean everything.
KStricker said: "Biden's use of a word which accurately portrays the thought he was trying to convey?"
Biden uses the word "bittersweet" accurately here? Dude, act of war and largest civilian atrocity in American history? When we remember Pearl Harbor (or when the Japanese remember Hiroshima) that's "bittersweet"?
That man is an IMBECILE, is what he is. He's also on the Dark Side in a culture war which we are trying to win here.
There is no level of mockery sufficient to punish the incompetence on display here. Having him tared, feathered and run out of public life on a rail, that might be appropriate.
DanS said: "Definitely not an event I would want to sully with cheap, partisan sniping however."
Dan, I think there's ample evidence that the 9/11 attacks were if not caused by then certainly assisted by "cheap, partisan sniping". Remember "The Wall" erected by Janet "Shoot-em-up!" Reno during the Clintoon years? Allowed the 9/11 jack0ffs free run of the USA. Remember one of the hijackers got his Green Card in the mail about a year -after- 9/11? Yeah.
We're not at war with the Jihadis, they aren't a big enough problem to be at war with. We're at war with the Lefties, who are the only reason we have the murderous hillbilly scumbags in North America in the first place.
I've got a better phrase than "bittersweet".
How about "no quarter".
Exterminate those responsible. Before it's too late.
To quote one of the commenters, Mike Murphy, "Now, Ol' drunk Joe disrespects the families and survivors of the 9/11 attacks by comparing his loss to theirs. Pathetic."
Well said Mike.
Actually, I have to agree with the dissenting opinions.
I didn't know about Biden's loss of loved ones, and it brings a sense of humanity and mortality to someone who has and remains almost completely disconnected from the lives of most people in this country.
"Bittersweet" might have been inappropriate, but it might also be exactly what he feels. On the one hand, he is reminded of the loss of his loved ones. On the other hand, he is reminded of the love and joy they brought into his life.
I give Joe the benefit of the doubt on this one. This was a prepared speech, not an impromptu gaffe for which he is famous - in addition to plagiarism.
As I have said before, I don't believe that Obama has ever risked his skin for the sake of another human being, and that fact alone is reason enough to not want him in the office of the presidency.
George W. Bush was at least a National Guard fighter pilot - not the greatest act of selfless danger, but not entirely without its risks. Looking at democrats, the number of them with actual military service is dwindling because of their ideological shift in the 1960's. Looking at Republicans, the number of them with actual military service is dwindling because they are dying off.
If any of these politicians were at least police officers or fire fighters, I'd have more respect for their willingness to make sacrifices. It seems that the people we get for political office are those who are either so rich that they don't have to hold a real job or so poorly skilled that being an elected official is a significant promotion.
I like Joe Biden personally, from what little public exposure I have seen. I think he'd be great fun at parties.
I wouldn't piss on Barack Obama if he were on fire.
I, too, remember that day: it was the best of times; it was the worst of times...
I give Joe the benefit of the doubt on this one.
Leftists never deserve the benefit of the doubt, never.
Their every word, action, and motive should be attributed to bad faith.
They are fundamentally immoral people.
Well, bless his heart.
I never thought I'd live to see the day when someone rivalled Dan Quayle's ability to put in foot in his mouth.
What's sweet about it?
Biden might have tried to convey that he knows about the loss of loved ones having lost loved ones himself.
Bittersweet?
Heh Heh the winner is......
"Well, bless his heart."
