I recycle everything. Very simple and easy. It all goes into the big black recycle wheely bin in the alley.

Funny how greentards are so serious about garbage. Too bad they aren't as serious about getting useful, gainful employment that actually contributes to society rather than eats up tax dollars for no gain. I'm sure it would make their heads explode if they ever found out that most compost waste ends up in landfills anyway since there is no way to effectively and economically deal with all that kitchen waste.

My wife and I enjoy the outdoors - hiking scrambling, skiing, scuba diving, etc., so we make a serious effort to minimize the negative impact that we make on the world's ecology. We buy products that are energy efficient and/or recyclable whenever possible. She drives a small fuel efficient car (although I'm kinda glad that living on an acreage justifies that I drive a 4x4 pickup). We advocate protecting the environment from wanton reckless destruction for the sake of making money. We live what we believe and encourage our friends and relatives to do the same without comdemning the ones who ignore us.

From a realistic point of view, I find it personally very frustrating that the benefit to the world's ecology from my entire life is probably easily nullified by one second of operation of some major polluter in China or other region that just doesn't give a s**t about the environment. This also makes the whole concept of "Green Police" enforcing nit-picking regulations on an otherwise relatively harmless society totally ludicrous. The smug, holier-than-thou attitude portrayed by the Audi driver doesn't make me want to rush out and buy one.

Rocky, we all believe in protecting the environment. Recycling doesn't help; it simply makes proper removal and disposal of garbage more expensive. The only commodity worth recycling is aluminum Everything else is best converted to energy through incineration; something the Greenies specifically oppose.

I'll add that the new fad of composting creates dangerous molds which are a health hazard.
Currently, in my city, compost heaps have to be a minimum of 30 ft from the nearest dwelling but if everyone had one I doubt that the 30 ft setback would be enough.

Two hopeful pathogens are the microsporidian protozoan Thelohania solenopsae and the fungus Beauveria bassiana.
Two parasitoid flies from South America, Pseudacteon tricuspis and Pseudacteon curvatus have been introduced into the southern states. These flies decapitate worker ants in the final stages of larval development.
In addition, a parasitic ant, Solenopsis daguerri (Santschi) which invades fire ant colonies and replaces the queen to take control of the colony by attaching itself to the queen and then directing the workers to care for and raise it's own larvae/pupa instead of RIFA, is being investigated for another possible biological control agent of the red imported fire ant.

Ken, in 1990, there was a strike in Toronto. Just near where I lived at the time was the old Commissioner Street incinerator. Abandoned, it was the collecting yard for old newsprint. During the strike it simply piled up.

By the third week, the stack was about 20 metres high, and about 80 metres square, making a visual mountain visible for about half a kilometre. With all that rotting paper, the dioxin emissions coming out of it must have been immense.

All of it should have gone to the incinerator, old as it was. The health impact would have been far less than letting it sit there for three months.
