NRO's Jim Geraghty recently spoke with pollster John McLaughlin, and published some of his comments:

In a close race, the operatives are trying to manipulate the turnout through their paid and earned media. The earned media includes lobbying and trying to skew the public polls. Historically the most egregious case was the 2000 Gore campaign’s lobbying the networks’ exit pollsters for an early, and wrong, call in Florida. This suppressed the Florida Panhandle and Western state turnout.” (Polls close at different times in different parts of the state, because the state stretches into two time zones.) “In our post-election Florida poll, we found that thousands of Panhandle Floridians heard the call and although their polls were still open for an hour in a close national race decided not to vote. Panhandle voters went two-to-one for Bush. The CBS early wrong call nearly triggered a national crisis.”

Here's McLaughlin on "what Obama and his allies are doing now":

“The Democrats want to convince [these anti-Obama voters] falsely that Romney will lose to discourage them from voting. So they lobby the pollsters to weight their surveys to emulate the 2008 Democrat-heavy models. They are lobbying them now to affect early voting…..The intended effect is to suppress Republican turnout through media polling bias. We’ll see a lot more of this."

The whole thing here.

The above (10:01) NRO link, along with others, at Doug Ross' "IT'S OVER: The Left's INformation Warfare Campaign Has Failed -- and Mitt Romney is Going to Win This Election."

Ross:

Are you down? Are you glum, dejected, feeling like Republicans can't catch a break? Are you sick of Mitt Romney's gaffes, hyped hysterically by obsolete media with breathless "Romney Can't Win 2012" Special Reports?

Have you been overwhelmed by criticism of the GOP from so-called conservatives? Let's consider the sources: Bill Kristol is a useless coot whose predictions are unerringly off-base. Peggy Noonan is a yenta. Rich Lowery is a sellout. And David Brooks isn't worth the three seconds I just spent typing this sentence. All of them are more worried about invitations to glitterati parties than they are in saving this Republic.

In the face of liberal agitprop campaigns, they wet their Depends and run away.

I'm not down. I feel good. Let's consider where we are in this campaign cycle.."

The rest here.

"The White House needed a scapegoat, someone to burden the blame -- so why not some hapless Christian filmmaker? ... And now it makes sense that much of this rage might actually be over the movie. But how many tens of millions of Muslims didn’t know about the film before our government and media poured every ounce of publicity they had into scapegoating it?"

On a related note, John McCain just stated that the damage done by the Taliban last week in Afghanistan is the most damage inflicted on US forces since the Tet Offensive.

Some Afghan tribes are beginning to rise up against the Taliban. They are far more likely to succeed than the awful ANA.

Gunter: Canadian health care — Kill the myths to save it

According to Vancouver's Fraser Institute, waiting times to see a specialist physician and then to have that specialist treat you have grown by 60% over the past 15 years. Those increases have come despite federal and provincial governments pumping an extra $100 billion into health during the same period — still more proof that money is not Canada's problem.

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart censored in Britain .

Yup, Libyans want sharia alright. EAT CROW.

Remember Ahmed Chalabi, the CIA-sponsored Iraqi opposition leader? His Libyan equivalent currently sits in the president's chair in Tripoli.

Hmmmm.... Shortages of Helium thanks to central planning.

EBD, 10:01 and 10:09p.m. --

Both these posts are on target: another two polls out today with ridiculous Obama leads.

The data on the National Journal poll, to which RCP links, is...actually an article by Ron Brownstein, which is full of "crucially" important facts and figures -- all to Obama's advantage, except for one that's missing altogether: party affiliation of those surveyed. Hmmm... Any further questions about the legitimacy of this effort?

And the Reason-Rupe poll contains 36% Democratics and 28% Republicans. Is it just me, or do they really believe we're stupid?

Rasmussen: Obama +1; Gallup: Tie (two days running). So, where's that big convention bounce for the Big O?

Astroturf, astroturf, astroturf. I'll bet you even Nancy Pelosi could pick it out this time!

“The Democrats want to convince [these anti-Obama voters] falsely that Romney will lose to discourage them from voting. The reverse was done in the 2010 Toronto election, yet also to help the leftist candidate. Right wing mayor Ford's main competitor on the left had his numbers inflated with a two-pronged effect in mind -- avoid discouraging his supporters from even showing up to vote as well as to encourage them to get the vote out, creating a false impression that they actually had the power to make a change to what was actually the inevitable.

"Down to the wire, neck-and-neck, to close to call, horse race, and a dog real fight" were all used by the media, right up until the polls closed.

In the end, Ford was declared the winner 5 minutes after the polls had closed, blowing away his leftist competitor 47% to 35%.

*real dog fight

EBD -- are you able to check the link to the Doug Ross post: it comes up for an instant but then reverts elsewhere. Thanks.

The post is right near the top.

David, the Doug Ross piece came up fine for me. Do try it again.

Looks like the "2016: Obama's America" has been given to the public as a "pre-electoral gift":

Bill Whittle: Merchants of Despair

Please, Bill, go back to your old hair style ...

David Southam is right; the Doug Ross piece is unfindable.

Shame; I wanted cheering up.

I have the impression that the majority opinion here on SDA is in favor of genetically modified foods. Personally, I don't think that I have enough credible, unbiased information to argue a case for or against GMO's, but sometimes I encounter information that makes me go "HMMMM...", and this movie scares the pants off some of my natural-food promoting friends, including my wife:

http://geneticroulettemovie.com/

Admittedly the whole tone of the movie leans toward hysterical, but I would like to hear a clear, objective, factual and unemotional analysis of this movie.
I apologize for the short left to watch the movie (free viewing ends today), but I hope I can get a response from some of the SDA readers who I consider reliable and credible.

Thanks!

"How many times did the tiger go around the tree before the tiger turned into butter?"

"There were four tigers. One took his coat, another, his trousers, the third, his shoes, and the last, his umbrella.

*Directly from the story:

"And the Tigers were very, very angry, but still they would not let go of each others' tails. And they were so angry that they ran round the tree, trying to eat each other up, and they ran faster and faster till they were whirling round so fast that you couldn't see their legs at all.

And they still ran faster and faster and faster, till they all just melted away, and then there was nothing left but a great big pool of melted butter (or "ghi" as it is called in India) round the foot of the tree.""

Black Mamba (7:02), the link works perfectly fine here, and I just called a friend who said it works fine too -- he has a different make of computer, and is using a different browser.

Strange. Along with the question of why anyone would pay even a nickel to see/watch/listen to Russell Brand, it's one of life's great mysteries.

Does directorblue.blogspot.ca work?

directorblue.blogspot.ca takes me to the site but once I'm there I can't find the article. The links @10:09 take me to the article but then the site disappears it after 2 seconds and suggests 3 other articles I might like to read instead. It's weird, man.

That is very strange. The 10:09 link works fine here (and for the friend I called), and when I go to the main page the linked-to article is still there, a bit down the page now.

I just did the cut-'n'-paste, and it's half-way down the page now, but I found it!

That did cheer me up.
