Tonight we take a look at the sights, sounds, and industrious people of the Land of Fair Dinkum circa 1948.

The moments are open, as always, for your Reader Tips.

Aaaannd the enlightened, progressive Euro-elites thought it would be a good idea to import hordes of these people because……because…?

What was the reason again? Falafels?

Obama's Justice Department: "Yeah, the Pentagon gave classified information to some Hollywood assholes, but they weren't supposed to blab about it…"

Last July, a top Pentagon official gave two Hollywood filmmakers the name of a Navy SEAL involved in training the squad of commandos who carried out the raid that killed Osama bin Laden. Now, the Obama administration is fighting to keep that same name from the public.

[…]

"The CIA and DoD did not authorize the filmmakers to make the names they shared with them public, to publicly associate the individuals with the CIA or DoD, or to expose those individuals’ identity in any publicly released film, and there was no reason for the CIA or DoD to have believed that any of this would have happened," the Justice Department Brief says. "In fact, [Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence Mike] Vickers specifically told [filmmaker] Mark Boal, in providing him with the name of someone he could talk to, that 'the only thing we ask is that you not reveal his name in any way'….

Yep, classified security information is sure in good hands with this administration...

"This limited disclosure of the names to the filmmakers does not make the information 'truly public' under the public domain doctrine," DOJ lawyers argue. "The filmmakers were not authorized to release the names publicly…"

Which isn't so very far from "Yeah, I told some guys down at the pub, but they were not authorized to tell anyone else…"

Ezra Levant With Mark Steyn

Mark Steyn predicts the End of America

September 18, 2012 16:13

Its Mark Steyn a prophet? Well, no, but his book After America seems all too familiar compared to recent events in the Middle East.

Germany Bars US Pastor Terry Jones.

Related:

"Several leading German politicians including Interior Minister Hans-Peter Friedrich and Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle have already backed the prospect of a ban [on the film 'The Innocence of Muslims]. Chancellor Angela Merkel has also voiced support for restrictions on public screenings…Many fear a public screening may prompt violent protests…"

Phil - I agree with most things that Levant says, and just so we can be clear, what exactly do you take umbrage with?

Minuteman: Who's "phil"?

Seriously, please don't take the bait or *invite* his input on this, a Reader Tips thread. The guy has literally nothing of substance - no insights, no original thoughts, no sense of humour -- to offer to anyone. He's a troll, and he's not even very good at that.

I appreciate the cooperation of all other commenters in this regard.

Thanks in advance.

I don't understand the problem here. Wasn't it Obama who could hardly contain himself with telling us all that it was he who snuffed OBL?

I'm sure its only a matter of time before he tacks in the other direction saying something pathetic like (I) didn't do that on my own...somebody else did it.

Seriously though...since when was hollywood a place to divulge secrets and heads should roll.

I suppose the upside to this is that you piss off enough frontline folks in the military and when the time comes that they are ordered to fire upon their own citizens: they do an about face and...well you know the rest.

So, a pretty good day for you guys in the Romney camp, eh? :D

Chalk up 200 million more rounds of ammo for DHS, including 176,000 .308 rounds, designed to be used by snipers.

Treacher with a great find of Romney saying in public basically what he said at that fundraiser.

Some Occutwat asked him "You what would make me happy? Free birth control!"

Romney's response? "If you're looking for free stuff, vote for the other guy. That's what he's all about".

The Land of Fair Dinkum.

My son lives over there. Hot and dry! Spent a couple of days at 44°C. Hell on earth. Sydney however is cooler.

Thanks!

Oz was fair dinkum sixty years ago, but now they're pretty much a nation of whiners, wankers, and warmists. Pity.

I think Ezra would laugh, after all I'm laughing, thank-you phil for my best laugh of the day!

Phil, there's that anger again and now it's directed at Ezra Levant who wouldn't have to try to reduce you to tears.

What--no comments and Kate`s topless phots! Sad!

In regard of Gypsies.

Disregarding for this purpose that stealing is bad, that it is a crime and many other things.

To Gypsies, stealing is much a way of life. They don't regard stealing as most of society does. It is simply a way of making a living.
I understand that it is difficult to absorb this. It is as though an essence of their existence.

This may not be a perfect analogy, though think that in this society, eating a dog is considered gross, while in China, it is done on regular bases. And chinese regard the rest of the world to be barbarians.

Don't mean to dump on them, it just is the way it is.

Osumashi - two words: Crocodiles.

(I realize they're not poisonous, but bear in mind that you wouldn't be worrying about that if one was eating you.)

I'm deeply puzzled as to why the Australia polemic opened with a rousing rendition of the Philippine national anthem. Somebody in the studio was pretty confused! Ironically, in 1948, uner the White Australia policy, Filipinos were barred from Oz, and there was a major diplomatic dustup when a Filipino soldier, Sergeant Gamboa, was unable to join his Australian wife and kids. He was eventually granted some sort of indulgence but, I don't recall how it was done.

A young American ... not quite ready for prime time. Imagine this guy in a job interview!

I don't think that Fox was punked or that the interviewee was making an effort to come across as stupid. I think that he was stoned - really stoned.

The police raids conducted at McGill University Health Centre headquarters Tuesday morning threaten to tarnish one of Canada’s landmark private-sector bids to build public infrastructure, while also enhancing the climate of suspicion surrounding Quebec’s construction industry. The spotlight has already prompted the province to launch a corruption inquiry and contributed to this month’s ouster of Jean Charest’s Liberal government."

A long, long read, but yet another settled science issue What if it's all a big fat lie?

One of the many gems Some of the best scientists disagreed with this low-fat logic, suggesting that good science was incompatible with such leaps of faith, but they were effectively ignored. And of course if there's no consensus amongst scientists, just legislate the politically correct solution into gov't policy and effectively make it the law of the land.

Thanks for that (4:30), bear. Excellent, well-written article.

Anyone who's tried the low-carb Atkins approach to eating when they're trying to lose weight quickly comes to understand -- to a point that it's almost shocking -- that it's indeed carbs (flour, sugar), and not fat, that make you fat.

Chalk another one up for the "experts" who who told everyone that the way to lose weight was to reduce protein/fat consumption and eat more carbs. Whoops.

Obama was on the Letterman show; Letterman brought up the National Debt, which is now over 16 trillion.

Letterman first said it was 'several trillion' and Obama didn't correct him.

Obama explained the reason for the debt. First, he linked 'the good' to Clinton. So, he explained that first, under Clinton, there was a surplus (no debt? He's lying). Then, 'two wars, cut taxes' (heh, that's blaming Bush). Then, a recession. So, Obama declared that he came into office with this 'trillion dollar deficit'. And had to do a 'few things' , such as 'saving the auto industry'...No mention of his Stimulus.

Then, Letterman asked him, if he knew how much the debt was. Letterman said, was it 10 trillion?

Obama's reply?'I don't remember what it is precisely'. Can you imagine? The US has a 16 trillion dollar debt, and its President doesn't know how much it is. Or won't say how much it is.
