Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

Australian TV news coverage of rioting you-know-whos in Sydney.
oops, posted it on the previous readers' tips:
The jailed Blind Sheik to be transferred to Egypt in order to appease??

What Muslim riots in Australia?!?
Well that's it then, Australia MUST develop a middle class.
Thus spake ET
I missed their anniversary party in Ottawa. 'Occupy ' turned one today.
Around 200 Occupy demonstrators, most bussed in from Toronto, hmmm, and the usual union presence. PSAC,Sid Ryan, etc.
"What do we want? Democracy. When do we want it? Now,"
http://www.ottawasun.com/2012/09/17/occupy-takes-over-the-hill
The cbc has a story up also. They have gone the extra mile by providing a direct link to the Occupy Facebook page. The cbc does like helping out.In the past, they also had direct links to the prorogation FB page and the LeadNow robocall petition.
It almost seems that they do not like Mr. Harper and the elected Conservative gov't.

The protests in Sydney are, perhaps, the most disturbing of all. Most of the Muslims protesting -- if not all -- were born and educated in Australia and know full well that the U.S. gov't has nothing to do with the video. So the next time I hear another apologist for the Islamists say that "we need to understand" that "they don't understand" our system and that, as a result, this circumstance, my head's going to explode.
Rather, "as a result, this must be a mitigating circumstance"
Another cbc article about the 'Occupy' party.
" Everyone’s got their own universe going on in their head,” said Veronica Campbell, another veteran of Occupy Toronto.“So, it’s kind of like this movement has its own universe going on even if everyone else outside doesn’t see it."
The only movement occupying that head space is bowel.

Phil gets a second brain cell active for a few minutes and proves once again the old adage about being Stuck on Stupid.
Nice try Phil. Try for three cells next time.
Australia has an excellent policy, called 'Australian Values', which all immigrants and visa applicants over the age of 18 must sign, thus making it a legal document. It says that they must adhere to Australian values, such as freedom of speech, gender equality and so on. If they break these rules they can be deported.
Thus, the Australians clamp down quite severely on demonstrations (which are obviously allowed) but that turn violent, and clamp down on those who advocate violence. There were a number of arrests - much more than was the case in Canada with our Occupy crowd, who trashed parks, had endless demonstrations and walks.
Harper is reforming the Canadian immigration and citizenship and refugee laws here, emphasizing the same insistence on accepting our values.

phil - it's ridiculous to claim that the term "gypsie" is the equivalent of the words you just enjoyed having an excuse to type. It's what they've commonly been called for centuries (AFAIK). It's not inherently derogatory; not a deliberately insulting term of abuse. In my limited experience, people who claim to have some gypsie background use the word "gypsie" to boast about it (after all it's exotic). If the term has negative connotations (see verb "to gyp") it's because, well, gypsies have a bad reputation.
Insisting that anyone who uses the term "gypsie" instead of the newfangled and artificial "Roma" is somehow the equivalent of a person who uses the N word (say) is idiotic. The proper analogy is to campare him to someone who declines to call Bombay "Mumbai" or Burma "Myanmar".
(Or "Gypsy", even.)
C'mon, ladies, you've got to get in shape if you want to attract men.
re. EBD @11:11 - forget Michelle; those arms are toned.
The dumbest part of phil's dumb comment is when he asks, sans question mark, "How would small dead hero Ezra would (sic) take to be (sic) labeled a sheeny, a mocky and a kike."
Everybody knows how Ezra would react: he'd laugh it off, and proudly display the slurs onscreen.
Because he's a mensch, not some little whiner with the vapors.
" The report cites mental disorders as the leading cause of absenteeism "
Yes,admitting the problem is a big first step.

I think phil might be retarded.
Mamba...can we say retarded?...or is it ok if phil was retarded before retarded wasn't a verbotten term..?..
The USA has merely postponed their trillion$ of annual overspending corrections plans until a month or two after elections in November.
There is a real likelyhood that the world economy will crash! There is no reasonable way for the USA to avoid it! Especially when the Republicans vow to be as rock stubborn as NHL negotiators are currently.
The disgusting greed of players and managing owners must be put aside. We need hockey and all the commerce it supports to start humming again promptly.
This is no way to slide into a very possible severe world depression. This commerce is needed to soften the blow or even help mitigate this looming economic crash.
The conditions today are VASTLY different than in 2004. TG
They're rioting in Africa
Had to laugh at the little remark at around the 2:00 minute mark about consistent foreign policy.
syncro - of course "retarded" started life as a sterilized euphamism itself.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mental_retardation#History_of_the_terminology
The compulsive tendency to discard words every few years has to do with defining in-groups and out-groups. Are you unhip enough to be using last decade's then-fashionable re-designation? Peasant! And those shoes are so two years ago!
But phil doesn't get that 'cause he's just so gay.
Perhaps PMSH can 'forget' to mail the equalization payment next time:

The nonsense with the PQ begins...
What say you phil? gay..retarded..both?..traditional meaning..modern meme..?..inquiring minds whant to know...
Well, I do know that phil, though he lacks the courage to do so, could call Ezra Levant a "sheeny, kike, or mocky" to his face, and not worry about the possibility of having his head chopped off.
Pity, that.

"'There are 47% who are with [Obama], who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe that government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to healthcare, to food, to housing, to you name it.'"
Why is this a gaffe exactly? Doesn't it accurately identify the mindset of a typical brainless lefty voter? Who has been brainwashed by a typical brainless lefty ideologue in an ivory tower?
Wasn't there a woman in 2008 who thought Ohbummer was going to buy her a house?
It's not a "gaffe" when you accurately describe what's happening. Romney is speaking truth to power.

nv53 I think this latest "gaffe" by Romney will probably boost his poll numbers.
Romney must not back away from his comments - surely he already knew they would be for public consumption. The Obama presidency has perpetuated a cycle of dependency and Romney should never apologize for stating this.
No, it won't get him any votes from the 100 million Americans who rely on some form of government income assistance, but it should.
When governments spend, they drive GDP down, that is well known in economics, it's considered the price we pay for services, but does not justify overspending or regulatory intrusions into every aspect of our lives.
Romney must reinforce his comments with reference to the future under Obama and the radical left Democrat party wing, of whom Obama is a puppet. That future is well, Greece - perpetual bailouts of failed dependency economies, further downgrading of US credit rating and ever increasing unemployment - no not the bogus Clinton claim Obama "created" jobs.
If he backs away in any way from his 47% comments, he is doomed. Screw the establishment media, Chris Matthews and his ilk and the dependency constituency, with the victim advocates, who truly keep the "poor" down, in their place.
It isn't Romney/GOP who wants to "put y'all in chains," it's Obama/Democrats who need a dependent constituency for votes. Romney must declare hard working Americans built that and the Dems seek to tear down and villify prosperity for their own electoral ends.
nv53...you beat me to it...only in the media minds when truth is spoken it is a 'gaffe.'
If it makes them squirm...it's a gaffe.
If it isn't politically correct...it's a gaffe.
If your brain is a phil...it's a gaffe.

A must read from Rick Wilson on US election. Here's an excerpt, but read the whole thing.
Now, everything about Barack Obama's brand – which is what has replaced the Democratic Party, to its future peril – relies on what John Hayward called “...a manufactured political narrative that bears little resemblance to reality.”
The delta between the world as Obama and his legion of fanboys describe it and the world as it is grows more spectacular and more impossible to sustain by the day.
Which is why stories about surreptitious videos and of Romney's campaign being on the precipice of destruction from internal tension and fights over strategic messaging are missing the most important point: there's only one campaign at real risk of destruction right now, and it belongs to Barack Obama.
Ruh oh. Romney's been holding back an Obama video too! Turns out Mr fair shot admits on tape he believes in redistribution. We've got our stark choice folks. Socialist muslim or capitalist American.
There's also Obama's claim of the results of poverty in the US made by him in April of 2008:
"And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations"
So, the Obama campaign is claiming that Romney has insulted a lot of Americans. Heh, what about Obama?

"French Mag to Publish Cartoons of Prophet Mohammed"
"A French satirical magazine is set to publish several cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed on Wednesday, a move that is likely to inflame the Islamic faithful and militants who have already rioted in more than 20 countries over a movie mocking the prophet.
Depictions of the prophet are strictly prohibited and considered blasphemous by Muslims. Cartoons of Muhammad published in Denmark in 2005 and then reproduced in newspapers across Europe triggered riots throughout the Mideast and Africa. Churches and embassies were torched and at least 100 people died in the outbreaks and police crackdowns.
The magazine “Charlie Hebdo” has confirmed that it will publish the cartoons, but has not revealed what they will depict. French newspaper “Le Monde” reports that some of the cartoons show the prophet in “particularly explicit poses,” without providing any further detail."

Most of the objections were not with what I said, but rather that I was allowed to speak at all. Apparently my mere presence in the broadcast has caused such a firestorm of complaints to PBS that they had to put up an apology piece. It is truly bizarre behavior on display. Even more bizarre is the fact that after 230 comments, my comment requesting a couple of simple spelling corrections still has not been approved nor acted upon. Climate Change From Different Perspectives
By: Spencer Michels
Anything dealing with climate change is bound to provoke an argument. And our story on Berkeley physicist Richard Muller’s recent conversion to a believer in man-made global warming, which he made in an op-ed in the New York Times, certainly stirred the pot. In addition to preparing a video story on the PBS NewsHour, I had written a blog that included extended remarks from Anthony Watts, a well-known blogger and prominent voice in the skeptic community. Watts — a former California TV weatherman who runs a company that provides weather data to TV stations — says he doesn’t completely discount global warming, but he says that much of the data recording temperatures are flawed because the stations are in areas like urban settings which retain heat and therefore read too high."
