The owners are wealthy, fine, if they want to burn their dollars on primadonnas for guaranteed contracts, they have that right to be stupid with their money. (but they're not), The value of NHL franchises keeps rising significantly.

The players are idiots. Most players make more in one year, than we make in a lifetime, and they complain. Maybe they should some time in their old hometown, see what kind of life their old friends are struggling with, and then come to their senses.

Hope the league is out for a year, and then some. Support your local Junior A or Junior B teams. The players are hungrier and a better bang for your buck.

Paul - when the NHL decides on a system of rules that they will enforce, I'll decide. I'm a long time Canuck fan, and am still PO'd that The Trap was allowed to come back to beat them last year. I didn't watch any other hockey during the playoffs because life is too short to drink lite beer or watch boring hockey. Right now I'm planning on taking a pass on the NHL and watching the juniors play, lockout or no in the majors. It's just more consistent hockey, with better rules and more consistent application.

To clarify...we have enough leeches in governmnt,we don't need owners stealing taxpayer money to build and support a rink for spoiled kids.

One problem with supporting Major Junior hockey instead of the NHL, is that in cities like Calgary and Edmonton, the NHL team owns the WHL team in town anyway. In those cities if you're planning to "show those rich owners what for" by supporting junior hockey instead, you're still lining their pockets.

Paul.. I just had this discussion with my neighbour. Yesterday, he took his family of four to a Junior A game. They sat six rows up from the ice and had a great time. The kids really enjoyed it and it didn't cost him the better part of a week's pay. I love hockey too but the 4th work stoppage in 20 years is too much. Bye-bye NHL. You're not riding on my dime any more.

David Southam, yes, that's quite the battle going on.

Rather than ensuring the security of American citizens in the MENA and rather than defending the Constitutional right of free speech, Obama is securing and defending Himself.

There is no way that the Obama Gang want to suggest for a minute that Obama's, ah, MidEast Policy, has failed. What is his policy, by the way? Disengagement? Doing nothing?

First, he rejects the reality of Islamic fascism and its concomitant terrorism. Second, he rejects that there are any economic or political or societal problems in the area; he ignores the human rights, the fundamentalism that denies equality, the racism, the intolerance to other religions and beliefs. He ignores the rampant poverty and unemployment.

He instead, reminds them of their 'great achievements' (such as?), defines their culture as equal to that of the West. No, wait, he doesn't do that. He defines the West as an abuser, a colonizer, a violator of the Middle East and apologizes for The Era Before Obama The Great.

Obama has only one agenda at the moment, and that's to win re-election. Reality, truth, facts, have no role in this agenda, for Obama never ever walks into that area of life. He lives in a virtual imaginary realm of his Own Words, where he is The Great One.

Of course he'll brush off truth, whether it be from the president of Libya or Netanyahu whom he refuses to meet with - Obama doesn't want to know what Iran is doing.

It's quite the scenario. First, the Embassy apologizes for free speech; the WH doesn't rebut it until Romney speaks out, and then, the WH tries to divert the focus from their failure to protect both the ambassador and free speech, by attacking Romney for 'speaking before the Great One'.

Then, come the claims that the whole thing everywhere was due to that 'terrible video' with apologies zooming in from every corner of the WH.

Then, facts begin to emerge, that Libya had intelligence information that denied the video as cause, that said it was pre-planned, that there was no demonstration, that the other demonstrations were planned for September 11; that some demonstrators were paid; that the agenda was for the internal Islamist radicals who are fighting the new governments for power, used the date (and video) as a pretext to destabilize the governments.

What did Obama do? He went to Vegas to campaign. He left it all to Valerie Jarrett, a radical socialist all by herself, and Susan Rice and Hillary Clinton to apologize and claim it was all spontaneous due to the video. Not to Obama and his failed policy. What policy?
