Organizing the community:

What are uniformed field representatives of the Department of Justice (DOJ) Community Relations Service (CRS) doing assisting Occupy/anarchist activists outside the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Tampa?….In one case, a CRS representative and protester are seen to high-five each other. CRS representatives are also seen relaying specific instructions to the activists about the location of prearranged buses that were apparently taking them to their next scheduled demonstration…

Heard a guy on the radio say that the Ontario Libs are robocalling in Vaughan using the dulcet voice of the Shiny Pony himself, Justin Trudeau.

Now if only they could have got somebody to pull the strings on Barack Obama like that...oh wait..

Shiney Pony robocalls eh?.."outreach" in 3..2..1...

Player piano--work of a genius!

Thanks!

Anyone up for a game of Media Fact Checkers?

"Not one game is being played, but several, and, if the game metaphor may be stretched further, the problem about real life is that moving one's knight to Qb3 may always be replied to by a lob over the net." -- Alasdair MacIntyre

EBD @ 10:03: I did read it, and it's good.

Hypocrisy is the left's modus operandi. That way, they don't have to care if they can't keep their stories straight (which is usually). They revel in their hypocrisy.

Look at the fiasco over the Canadian $100 bill last week. The focus groups who thought the woman shown peering into a microscope on the original bill "looked Asian" were merely repeating the anti-stereotype strictures of the anti-racist left. They learned their lesson well. But they got criticized for allegedly being racist themselves!

Another thing struck me today. If women dressing like sluts isn't the cause of men to try to rape them (a point with which I will agree), why would cigarettes on regular store shelves (rather than behind those stupid barriers) cause smokers to want to smoke them?

The leftists don't even try to untangle their own stories any more, as long as they can impose another regulation on society or get another poor sap to feel unearned guilt over something or other. And naturally they populate those fuzzy fields which are the least based on hard facts, like the environment (in science) and discrimination (in social science).

The left is always trying to see how much cognitive dissonance they can get away with. It's about time they were called out on their hypocrisy.

So us peons should call bullshit, always...and voiceferously?

Mississauga Matt, 10:31p.m.:

Couple that little tidbit with the carpet bombing of provincial government education and health care ads on CKCO-TV (CTV Kitchener) -- which my parents like to watch for some reason -- and I'd say that the Liberal by-election campaigns have the whiff of death about them.

BTW, do you think that the teachers' unions are complicit with McGuinty on this faux crisis over teacher contracts? I'm not a conspiracy theory guy at all, but the whole "crisis" seems very strange to me -- like somebody's trying to make McGuinty look tough (as opposed, you know, to actually being tough).

It pains me to say this, but the best result would be two Ontario Tory wins. Here's hoping!

I WANT ONE!!!!

johnbrooks, it's not just Shaw. I use another server and the Sun newspaper and Sun TV are down on mine as well. I'm getting the same Proxy Error messages as you are.

What's up, I wonder?

Are you looking for something special to wear to a nomination meeting? This auction of power suits that belonged to Margaret Thatcher may be just what you need.

What the student protestors in Quebec really want is a soviet anarchist form of government with a sprinkling of citizen referendums on some issues.

Btw, I am not able to get the Sun papers or TV either, and get the same messages as mentioned above.

Paul in Calgary (4:31): if you want one, keep in mind that under an obscure, purpose-built international law called the "Domestic Harmony Act of 1923", which was enacted for the purpose of preventing frying-pan related violence against husbands, your wife would have to sign a release form before the machine can be placed in your home.

The instrument/machine is called an American Fotoplayer:

The fotoplayer (“foto” from photoplay and “player” from player piano) is a wonderful contraption that was built to provide music and sound effects for silent movies. These machines appeared around 1912 and were used in medium sized theaters. Fotoplayers were inexpensive to operate because you didn’t have to be a musician to play them as they were also playable by way of player piano rolls.

The fotoplayer that Joe Rinaudo is playing was shipped to a theatre in Saskatchewan in 1976 before ending up in Rinaudo's home in California.

It appears Firefox is giving me grief. Is anyone else having a problem with it?? Something to do with a proxy server.

Same with me and I use bell.

Well depending on how loud your computer speakers are (and whether or not there's a subwoofer involved) this site is capable of producing domestic violence levels of annoyance.

Take this quiz to find out which presidential contender you align with. Moi, I'm Romney 88%, and 93% Repub with a bit of Libertarian.

David Southam. I have several family members who are Ontario high school teachers. For the sake of peace we don't talk politics. I do think they are not strong union supporters because teaching is a second career for them after many years working in the real world. Any way, we were talking about this the other day and they said the whole strike thing was just a bluff. I think they realize that they would have no public sympathy, and there are several by elections coming up which the liberals would be sure to loose if they occurred in the middle of a teachers strike. They want their goodies from the government, but they want the liberals to win even more.

T. Boone Pickens - “I’ve lost my ass” to wind-energy investments."

How about you, Brad - hit a wall on it too?? McGuinty?

ACU - "We are thrilled to hear that T. Boone Pickens has thrown in the towel on the NAT GAS Act. It was a classic example of the federal government attempting to pick winners and losers within an industry and that’s why the ACU fought so hard against this misguided policy."

Coincidence !!?? Why is Pickens giving up now? A little concerned Romney may end the crony capitalism gravy train? Did someone explain just how big a nat gas vehicle fuel tank has to be? Did someone whisper in his ear that wind energy is free if you do not consider all the problems that make it unfeasible? Did he recently discover sda?

Did T Boone realize he may get T-boned because Romney/Ryan are not Obama/Biden?

Affordable energy makes the world go around - not basketball scores. The days of easily duping the white house may becoming to an end.

"I am beginning to hope that someone strikes oil in a really big way in Quebec — and then moves to ship it south or west with a pipeline. Because it occurs to me that only the presence of oil in Quebec will move the federal NDP or its leader, Thomas Mulcair, to give their voice to what goes on in that province. Drop by NDP headquarters anytime if you want to rage against the oil sands. Just don’t ask anyone there about Quebec separatism."

"The tone of urgency was notable. The 2008 version of Obama had no trouble getting people to go to the ballot box during his historic election win. But in 2012 it is a different game. Battered by the realities of four years in office and with a party base that often believes he has let them down, Obama is facing an enthusiasm gap as he prepares to rally Democrats at their nomination convention in Charlotte, North Carolina."
