Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

Sept. 7, 2012: And the Saskatchewan jobs report is the best in Canada.

"fails to meet expectations."
This is the problem with Affirmative Action, it never really measures up except in the loony minds of self loathing white drug addicts.
Under Keynesean theory, this would be the time to trim government spending.
Converted for population size, the American number would have to be 343,000 to be comparable.
Because Obamanomics works so well.
Via Drudge: 88,921,000 'NOT IN LABOR FORCE'
The number of Americans whom the U.S. Department of Labor counted as “not in the civilian labor force” in August hit a record high of 88,921,000.
The Labor Department counts a person as not in the civilian labor force if they are at least 16 years old, are not in the military or an institution such as a prison, mental hospital or nursing home, and have not actively looked for a job in the last four weeks. The department counts a person as in “the civilian labor force” if they are at least 16, are not in the military or an institution such as a prison, mental hospital or nursing home, and either do have a job or have actively looked for one in the last four weeks.
Not every Canadian conservative is happy with our new relationship with China, a relationship that of course defines us to be the junior partners. It would have been better to have stayed with Menu A (tell the Chicoms to go to hell).
But at least you have money now, I suppose that it's true about the road to hell that we have chosen. Gung hey fat wallet.
Mississauga Matt >
Don't forget the estimated 28 million illegal - er scratch that - "Undocumented" aliens that are also not counted.
They are "entitled" to drivers licences, welfare, medical attention, and a host of additional public services especially in Liberal sanctuary cities, where the police dare not touch them even when committing crimes.
There doesn't seem to be a job breakdown for the American report specifying whether the new jobs are private or public sector.
Um, don't they mean "unexpectedly" fails to meet expectations?
Grok, read the US article I linked to. :)
But, is there a turkey in every pot? :-)
I am assured by Paul Krugman that these results are impossible, since the Canadian government is close to being in "austerity" while the U.S. is running up nice big healthy deficits.
Seriously though, PM Harper is doing an excellent job of keeping the Canadian economy stable. However external factors such as the economies of the US and Europe can hurt us in a side swipe.
There is good news and bad news in Europe.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/economics/
A few months back Sean Hannity was regularly mentioning Canada's success with a Conservative government but he hasn't been lately. Perhaps these latest numbers will get all the US talking heads comparing the US economy to the Canadian economy.
Now, if I read these #s correctly, the so-called right of center governments added over 8000 public admin jobs to taxpayers' tab in 1 month? Anyone care to enlighten me on how they justify that?
Canada's ace up the sleeve, is that Harper is a real economist. He doesn't listen to the flakes. Because he knows already what they will propose.
Under a minority he had to give away money to interests he knew would abuse it for political reasons. Now he doesn't have to. He can really start cutting for the coming economic A bomb.
That anyone with half a brain knows is coming.
Rick Santelli covered just this subject, today.
Here's the clip.
Fiddle, if your competent, and not lazy, and not working in Alberta or Sask., your either rich, on welfare or have no pride, there is no end of jobs and if you look at any small town paper there are 2to 5 pages of job offerings, that is the prairie work ethic for you. Qweebec on the other hand has lived like a french reservation for 200 years, works for them thanks to us in the west.
Revnant Dream @ 5:21;
That Keynes guy was an economist to, no? Last I looked Harper was running a +$20 billion deficit. A bit of tongue in cheek I admit. My point is that numbers can usually be interpreted to fit the argument. More than anything else PMSH has a streak of 'common sense' that serves him well. His stink at the National Citizen's Coalition didn't hurt either.
A Canadian reality is that we export resources. When the demand for those resources reduces then government revenue will as well. While international growth has declined Canada has still benefited from projects funded as much as 5 years ago. Even tho oil sands projects have been scaled back the backload of demand has still carried us forward. That cannot be guaranteed by any politican.
I can tell you that in my neighbourhood in the East Kootenays that a hiring freeze is in effect in the coal mines around Sparwood. The Chinese and Japanese are reducing orders as their economies slow down. There is a fundamental difference between the Canadian and American economies and comparing statistics is very misleading.
