About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

He is right..It is is giant toxic waste site and we are cleaning it up by removing all the oil!!
We have to be careful, Kate. Since the electoral lines will soon be reconsidered, a strong possibility exists that Kelly Block's riding will be redrawn to encompass an urban-only riding. There are enough simpleton freeloaders in westside Saskatoon to elect an NDP MP by voting for handouts, rather than for oil sector jobs.
Be very afraid.
The oil is mined in a strip mine not unlike thousands of them around the world. The oil is extracted largely with hot water, a pretty innocuous substance. I suspect the source of pollution is simply the concentration of industry in one location. More than Canada's usage of oil is produced at Fort McMurray. I also suspect the pollution is a tiny fraction of that produced in Toronto or Montreal.
Just a suggestion.
Rather than putting this subject matter under the moniker of erecting a plaque, could you use the title.
"Marois sock puppet speaks"
Or some iteration thereof.
Re: "If you look at the Sydney tar ponds - it is TAR, not oil," Mulcair said. "It's a mistake from decades ago that we're cleaning up."
Who knew there were oil sands in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
"That is contributing to keeping the Canadian dollar artificially high, which of course, everyone admits ... is the principal cause of at least 50% of manufacturing job losses," he said."
I believe Mark Carney stated the high dollar was the cause of about 20% of manufacturing job losses - but hey, he's only the governor of the Bank of Canada. What does he know compared with Mr. Dutch Disease.
Where do socialists think the money they want to steal comes from?
Dutch Disease? Is that what Jack Layton caught from an Asian hooker that caused his death?
Citoyen Malcair is FOS.
If the Alberta oil sands were in Quebec (or France?) he would be screaming at the top of his lungs,
demanding the federal government finance this "wonderful asset owned by the people of Quebec".
As to the Sidney Tar Ponds, they have been a rent seeking patronage squabble prize for several
generations with all sides pushing and shoving to get their hands in the taxpayer funded till while
at the same time trying to ensure their rivals are left empty handed.
An ongoing and very disgusting exhibition of bedrock east coast politics.
First of all the tar sands are Gods oil spill, they were not created by man.Secondly what does a socialist/commie lawyer from that political cess pool called Quebec know about anything west of the Ottawa river. He can t even decide what country he is a citizen of.With any luck he will soon have a third passport. One from his beloved country of France, one from his country of opportunity Canada, and one from an independent non equalization payment receiving Quebec. What a dufus this fool is.
It should be obvious to most people that there is a reason why the ongoing BS that eminates from the Mulclair's and Obama's of our world never discredit them. The MSM hides and deflects.
Does Mark Carney have credibility or does Mulclair. It is a given that PMSH simply travels the world gloating at other countries misfortune, right?
Mulclair chirps out this 'Dutch disease' excuse regularly. Does the CBC investigate how strong currencies in Germany, Sweden and Norway remain competitive? No! The CBC has to spend its scarce resources on another 'investigative' program on how the CPC stole the last election by rigging the vote.
Toxic waste site? I thought that that was NDP Headquarters!
You go girl. This was a winning formula fo Dion, Iggy and Taliban Jack. Should work for you.
Just wait till the Saudi oil goes of the market then we will talk dickweed.
he is an evil, angry little man.. I can barely stand to listen to 3 seconds of him speaking.
Equating the Sydney Tar Ponds with the oilsands is silly - stupid political theater. The world of mining and environmental protection is completely different. The Ft.Mac operations exist under modern operating regulations. Everything is monitored and reported. Mined land is reclaimed and even improved.
If you ever want to see the difference between modern practices and ones from a generation ago then take a drive through the Estevan area. Note the difference between the piles of ugly overburden from old draglines compared to the new areas where the land is reclaimed with 2-3 years of mining. Compare the old power station with the newer one.
We've come a long way, baby.
Why is anyone surprised that someone who believes in socialism, a system that destroys every country that implements it, doesn't understand the difference between an industrial waste site and bitumen? Or how national economies work?
If oil sands are a toxic waste site then...
His mouth is a festering putrid sore rimmed with ingrown filthy cheese-caked squirming flagellum, his words are the retarded monkey "OOOKs" caught handling his own shit, his ideology is buzzard puke poison fire hosed over a 100 million unearthed murdered raped and tortured eternally suffering corpses paraded down the streets of hell for a satanic horned 10 foot red naked giant bawling donkey bray laughter.
He also doesn't grasp math. The budget for the tar ponds cleanup is $400 million not $750 million as he stated. There are live cams at the STPA (Sydney Tar Ponds Agency) website. I see lots of grass and piles of clean sand but no tar.

Everytime I see no chin Mulcair with his wimp beard. I think if you stuffed a cigar in his mouth he would look like Rin Tin Tin taking a sh*t. All that comes out of the useless b*stard's mouth is sh*t anyway...
And that POS could become PM with nothing more than more free stuff for Ontario,s masses.
I think if some cultures were taken of that beard, there might be another toxic waste site.
When is this fascist going to put the heat on Quebec mining companies to reclaim the giant holes they have created in the earth and left abandoned? Moreover, when is he going to get the messes left by the James Bay Project corrected?
I am sick of this goofball.
Brigitte Pellerin, I really really do not like this woman.
We should take that as an OK to immediately turn off the transfer payment money tap.
Thank you mulchair, now we can twin Hwy 1 from Winnipeg to Vancouver, and build the entire infrastructure we need to accommodate all those economic refugees from the East.
Many great comments.

For those who have not had an opportinaty to fly over the Prairie, please take a very small piece of butter, the size of an orange seed or a coffee bean is too large and place in it a hot frying pan until it smokes.
Now compare the size of smoke emitted, but understanding in Oil Sands recovery most would be steam,to the inevitable football field,(Canadian Football Field dimensions) and you will have a comparison of the impact on a very small part of the landscape where Fort McMurray is.
Just not understanding where the first President of New France is coming from. Cheers;
Frenchdip said: "Brigitte Pellerin, I really really do not like this woman."
That's because she's one of the small minority of Quebec women who makes her way in the world with her brain instead of her knockers. You're not used to it.
And really, it should be no surprise that a pandering pimp like Mulcair is toeing the Greenie line, he's got a whole province full of dis-educated snotty retards like Frenchdip to keep happy.
Just a small note.
Socialist Mulcair is the toxic waste.
Mulcair is just desperately trying to hold his base.....eco-muddled, welfare/rent seekers....
Frenchdip said: "Brigitte Pellerin, I really really do not like this woman."
Duly noted....I rather happen to fancy her a lot.
In all the active response is no one going after the people who voted for this guy? Sure Mulcair is a dangerous jerk, but who voted for him and why are they so blind? The same with the PQ and even Libbey Davis. Why are people voting for those who would harm our land?
He won't be in the wilderness necessarily in BC or Ontario or Quebec.
Let's continue to allow Mulcair to continue to spout his venom.
Let's continue to allow Mulcair to continue to pit one part of Canada against the other.
Let's continue to hear Mulcair lie.
Let's continue to allow Mulcair to try and walk his tightrope between sucking up to his Quebec base and his fellow socialists in the rest of Canada.
And most importantly; let's continue to do everything we can to ensure that our version of Obama never gets to be the PM, or God help Canada!!
@robw: we already *did* elect out version of Obama. His name was Trudeau.
Perhaps Mr. Mulcair is equally upset with the devastation to forest and tundra that were the result of Quebec's hydro developments. Considering his level of upset with the oil sands projects, he must be absolutely gasping for air at the destruction of over 12 thousand square kilometers of Quebec wilderness.
Apparently the release of soil based heavy metals into Quebec's reservoir waters isn't a concern for this westerly focused windbag.
Grant:
Quebec always gets a free pass. The greenies go crazy when several hundred ducks are drowned in tailings ponds at the oil sands but never a mention when Hydro Quebec drowns 10,000 caribou.

The things that come out of Mulcair's mouth should cause even the NDP to question his leadership.
Quebeckie doesn't like Brigitte Pellerin, a smart and pretty Quebecois? Not surprised. Having one's romantic overtures rejected by such women hurts one's feelings after a time.
Mulcair does not govern his mouth with facts. Coke is no longer necessary as a fuel because of the ready availability of fuel oil, which is cleaner.
In the same way the manure problem from using horses as a major urban transportation medium was solved by gasoline, diesel fuel, and natural gas.
Kinyobe
The only thing Quebec Separapiss is in love with is his right hand.
Just as a small aside - the Sydney Tar Ponds were where Elizabeth May made her mark as prez of Sierra Club Canada. I can't recall hearing her mentioning it lately. How soon they forget the little people they climbed over to get to the Gold Mountain.
Pity the poor Tar Ponds - used by two sets of opportunists.
BOTH my sons are making $130 grand a year working this resource.
What's MulCairs or Suzuki's kid's making?
How many spinoff jobs are THEY contributing?
Jump in the water's fine!!!
Osumashi Kinyobe, 5:06p.m.: "The things that come out of Mulcair's mouth should cause even the NDP to question his leadership."
You're right, of course, but whether they will or not is another matter entirely. The old battleaxe Broadbent criticized Mulcair, at the leadership convention, for being too "moderate". This criticism, along with Mulcair's behaviour since, brings the real dynamic of the Canadian left into relief: the "rise" of the NDP is nothing more than a by-product of the strange death of Liberal Canada. The NDP is still the same old, same old gaggle of disjointed extremists, each nursing his or her own pet perceived grievance, that it's always been (tigers apparently don't change their stripes, which is a convenient metaphor given the colours involved, although I don't mean to insult, by association with the NDP, tigers' other inate abilities...). The only possible exception to this characterization is that the NDP has further alienated itself from the Canadian mainstream by allowing itself to be inveigled completely by Quebec's alleged complaints.
The NDP's obsession with "niche" issues, of which this Dutch Disease/carbon tax/tar ponds/resource-industries-favoured incoherent jibber-jabber is just the latest obtuse installment, has made certain MPs popular in local ridings for long periods of time, but it's no way to run a national party. Tom Mulcair will still be railing on against the injustices of the oil sands long after he's managed to lose the other 58 seats his party currently holds from Quebec, and his downtown Montreal constituents will just love him for it (and so will the MSM, who'll undoubtedly be spewing Jack-style puff pieces about the "happy warrior", which actually might be tough since Mr. Mulcair is not that happy). There's a reason he was the only NDP member from Quebec for five years -- and I confidently predict that that reason will reassert itself in due course.
At this rate, the battle for the support of residual Liberals should be over in relatively short order. I'm guessing that Justin's honeymoon will be short-lived (he's got nothing original to say, and what he does say sounds like Mulcair). Which should redound nicely to the benefit of another party, which has proven itself able to heal its own divisions, under a leader who is doing a masterful job of creating a fifty to sixty percent consensus in the country.
As long as I dont get stuck with that moonbat Nettie Wiebe next election, Kelly Block is a great MP. PS Brigitte Pellerin is smokin hot.
"As long as I dont get stuck with that moonbat Nettie Wiebe next election, Kelly Block is a great MP"
In Saskatoon-Rosetown-Biggar we have been very fortunate to have decent, hard-working MP's for a number of years. Kelly Block is an excellent representative and her predecessor, Carol Skelton was no slouch either.
Nettie Wiebe is a tired, old socialist whose biggest accomplishment to date has been to lose elections. A vote for Wiebe is a complete waste of time and paper, however the crap that she constantly spews has a certain appeal to the "something for nothing" crowd.
