It has been a stunning slide

"The focus of this week's Democratic convention was President Obama. Lost in the adulation was the diminished state to which he has brought his broader party. Today's Democrats are a shadow of 2008—struggling for re-election, isolated to a handful of states, lacking reform ideas, bereft of a future political bench. It has been a stunning slide. The Party that Obama Un-Built.

or

Mark Steyn's humorous take: "Any space aliens prowling through the rubble of our civilization and stumbling upon a recording of the convention compatible with Planet Zongo DVD players will surely marvel at the valuable peak airtime allotted to Sandra Fluke" who concluded after completing "her education a few weeks ago – at the age of 31, or Grade 25", "that the most urgent need facing the Brokest Nation in History is for someone else to pay for the contraception of 30-year-old children."

Barry built that.

I would be happy to pay for Flukes Birth Control, why continue making the same mistake her Mother made..Abortion would have been cheaper.

The pro-abortion folks have found a new (Fluke) way to sell thier solutions....

To easy.Fluke, phil, and LAS(but which one is the female?)

The last paragraph of The Party that Obama Un-Built:

But contemplate the situation if [Obama] loses. Consider a Democratic Party that may hold neither the White House nor Congress, that has disappeared in parts of the country, and that has few future Obama-like stars. Compare that to 2008. This is the party Barack Obama un-built.

'Sounds a lot like Ignatieff, doesn't it? The Liberal$ are the party that the Count un-built.

There's hope for America -- and I mean real hope, not the hopey-changey hope.

I hope Barry wins. Before I get that wedgie let me explain my reasoning:

Mittens isn't much better. He is a big gov't statis pr*ck, he is flip flopping on Obamacare as we speak and the only thing he has going for him is that he doesn't stink as bad as Obama does.

Another 4 years of Obama would result in some major victories: Obamunism would go out once and for all, in a blaze of idiocy. Once his useful fools figure out that Obama sold them out and always intended to...the useful idiots would wake up en masse and you wouldn't see a dhimmicrud in the oval office for decades afterward.

America would have money again. True hope and change could start and grow once the endless social programs and payrolls for useless snivel servants got cut.

America is culturally ill right now. They are addicted to gov't handouts, they want the gov't to take care of them and they don't want the responsibility for fending for themselves. Addicts have to hit rock bottom before they change their ways...and I don't think America is there yet.

And no, I am not happy about any of that and I wish things were different.

Don't count yer chickens before they hatch. If Bambam wins we're imperially screwed, blued and tattooed and we may never recover. Has the former USSR recovered from Stalin's collectivization? If Mittens wins we may be royally screwed, blued and tattooed. I'll take Mittens anyday.

Big Bad Jim at September 9, 2012 5:50 PM. -- That is basically what all you pharaseeical conservatives said in 2008. Elect the libruls, then everyone will see how bad they are. Didn't work then, won't work now. If we don't know how bad they are now, we will never know. You assumptions about Romney are what puts you in the insane pharassical category.

Sandra Fluke, America's Alexandra Kollontai.

I should add that Kimberly Strassel always has something intelligent to say when she is part of a panel or being interviewed. And in this article, Mark Steyn writes his usual cutting truth.

democraps...the party soros unbuilt...Obumbles is just a usefull idiot

Ken (Kulak)

Agreed....and....

Barry Obama, America's Pierre E. Trudeau.

Michele telling us that Barry had to walk through 9 inches of snow uphill- both ways getting to primary school and Sandra Flukes struggles with a governed iud is more than my peony brain can take! Please elect someone else.

" . . . the most urgent need . . . is for someone else to pay for the contraception of 30-year-old children."

Mothers should be free to Choose up until the child's thirty-fifth birthday. After that age, experience suggests that many become viable.

If it stopped Fluke from having children that she could raise in her own image, I would personally buy her contraceptives. Nut control is always a worthy cause.

The democratic party was little better talent-wise in '08. some like evan bayh have moved on or disappeared.

Think Canadian liberal pary and you have a very close comparison (where are manley et al?).

The big change since '08 is not the dems - its the GOP. With the Tea party, and to some extent Ron Paul, pushing it to modernize, become democratic, grassroots and - especially - policy oriented, talented people now have grassroots support to allow them to come forward. this is the case with rubio, cruz, christie, palin jindal, west and many others.

If obama wins renewal for the dems will be delayed for at least four years. If he doesn't there is no guarantee that renewal will happen right away, but there is a chance theat the bleeding will stop.

That's the ticket, it happens all the time people who spend all there money and more and go bankrupt instead of stopping always have it better on the other side. Swell.

Big Bad Jim
You want an entire country to go down the drain to prove Obama and the Democrats are idiots.
That's one helluva gamble.

As terminally stupid as the Dems appear, Rasmussen's surveys still show Obama with a fair to middling lead.

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/obama_administration/daily_presidential_tracking_poll

These numbers dim my perception of the overall intelligence of the American people, but there is no reason to expect millions of " jus' ordinary folks" to suddenly smarten up.

In other words, while I hope for the best, like Big Bad Jim I'm resigned to preparing for the worst.

Obama's massive narcissism has consumed the Democratic Party. He has done nothing at all for them in this campaign, or otherwise since 2008.
Why they stick with him I don't know - perhaps they have no other idea what to do.

It is rather like the Canadian Liberal Party. When Jean Chretien came to power it was evident that rebuilding was necessary.
While Jean Chretien was and is in every way superior to Obama, he didn't do it. The ultimate result was (as noted above) Michael Ignatieff,
and a Liberal party run by a rich Toronto corporate lawyer.

Let's not get cocky here, folks (at least those of you who live in the USA). There's still quite a substantial chance that Obama will be re-elected. The polls aren't THAT badly done. We still need to work to defeat him. The prospect of Obama being able to appoint four justices to the US Supreme Court in addition to the two whom he's already appointed (Anthony Kennedy and Antonin Scalia are both 76, Ruth Bader Ginsburg is 79, and Stephen Breyer is 74) means that he could easily have the opportunity to ruin the USA for the next several decades, to say nothing of what he's been doing with his executive orders and what Eric Holder has been doing in the "Justice" Department.

I mean, it's not fair to conclude from Steyn's cloumn that Fluke never had a real job in her 31 years.

I mean, at the risk of being called a Wilidick, here's her resume:

"She worked in New York City for Sanctuary for Families, which aids victims of domestic violence and human trafficking.."

So, she didn't build it or anything like that, but it counts...doesn't it????

What a nightmare that would be. That reasoning alone overwhelms "I hope Barry wins" - Posted by: Big Bad Jim at Sept 9, 5:50 PM

Thanks for that heads up Iowa Jim.

@ Iowa Jim
The USA is Canada's biggest trading partner and what happens this coming election will have a direct impact on our way of life as well as yours. Not to mention that most of us probably have relatives in the states. Although we have no direct impact on the coming election we can still hope that sanity will prevail. We know what's at stake and know who to cheer for. Almost as good as hockey . Most of our igloos have TV and we will be watching on Nov.6.

"Rasmussen's surveys still show Obama with a fair to middling lead" - Posted by kakola Sept 9, 8:41 PM

Flashback courtesy of Drudge:

Gallup had Carter up 4 points over Reagan in Sept. 1980 .

Dukakis Led Bush By 17 Points After 1988 DNC

John Lewis @8:51pm- Chretien was superior to Obama in every way? Explain please.

iowa jim:

National polls are arguably worse than useless. Perhaps only 7 or 8 states matter. Many large states are landslides for obama - NY NJ and CA for example and they skew the numbers A LOT. Thus, a rough rule of thumb - according to Mike Murphy et al is that Obama needs at least a four point lead nationally to win.

And that is all he has after his convention.

Let's see how the debates go and after romney begin to really carpetbomb swing states with advertising.

Thusfar Obama has outspent Romney five to ten to one in plaes like NH and OH. And he has bugger all to show for it and he has run out of money whilst romney is raising two to three times as much every day more than obama.

Another thing to keep in mind is that undecideds - especially in the current environment - will go heavily in favour of the challenger. Realistically Obama needs to be almost at 51 0r 52% nationally to win and rasmussen has him at 47%.

(this is what Carville et al have been saying for months - that obama is behind and has been for a very long time.)

But but where is Frank Graves, and just how many points ahead has Frank given "O". Frank is a polling dynamo here in Canada, didn't he have the Igula 10 points up on Harper, just give him a chance to throw the US election, or erection as it is to the antique media. Obie is done, his main enabler Oprah is so low in the tank with her sorry network she can't afford bigger pants, the fat lady can start signing anytime for Barry, Americans won't get fooled again by incompetents.

"As terminally stupid as the Dems appear, Rasmussen's surveys still show Obama with a fair to middling lead."

Yeah probably...but then wadda ya expect when 47% pay no income tax and 1 in 4 get a government cheque or food stamps.

Hey Sandra- don't let the door hit your Norplant on the way out!

I'm right, and to prove it I submit to you that imaginary aliens agree with me.

My biggest fear is that Romney simply delays the whole process of fiscal deleveraging for another 4 years. Assuming he is elected the GOP could be left holding the bucket as the Dems sit on the sidelines and don't have to take responsibility for any of their iniatives.

In the long run it might make more sense to re-elect Obama and force the Dems to take the hit. To want the Republicans in suggests that they can actually fix the problem. I'm not suggesting that they don't know what the problems are but simply that most politicans are scared to death of rioting in the streets. I honestly think there will be some of that when the 'fix' has to be implemented.

I hope this partisan right gloating over BamBam's "slide" is more than just wishful thinking. In politics it's best to never underestimate the entitlement voting block's capacity for bad leadership.

ct, then explain Ontario? McGuinty already was a disaster after 9 years in every facet you could measure yet was re-elected by all the major cities. The recent by-election in Vaughn was won by 51% of the vote by Liberals as the Teachers Unions worked against him just showing the power of these public unions to control the vote.

Rae was defeated by Harris as still much of the province was fairly conservative but years later more and more especially in the vote rich for leftists cities the swing is the other way. Not one Conservative seat is found in the cities now.

Bob Ford was elected in Toronto by the outer ridings but relentless attacks on him by the lefty councillors supported by the unions IMHO with do him in next time despite all the great stuff he has accomplished.

Morgan Brittany said it best....

Have we reached the tipping point?...where the takers outnumber the givers?

If Obumbles and the demon-crats win what happens when the debt hits $20 Trillion? 25? How high can it possibly go before the house of cards collapses? No wonder gun sales are going up. The only sure investment is in shotgun shells and steel bars on your windows.

Fluke's parents are boomers ... I have no respect for most of my generation with good reason.

dave said: "ct, then explain Ontario? McGuinty already was a disaster after 9 years in every facet you could measure yet was re-elected by all the major cities."

The Ontario PC Party led by Mr. Hudak waged possibly the worst election campaign in Canadian history. That's the explanation.

Mr. Hudak is such an @ss that it is possible we may have dodged a bullet with his loss, and might be -fortunate- to be lorded over by the odious and corrupt Mr. McSquinty.

I have full confidence of the GOP pulling defeat out of their hat at the last moment, Obama's last hope to win.

She can't get a job. She has debts. What do you expect her to do?

/sarcasm

To all the mushroom trolls explaining here why Obama's re-election is inevitable/desirable, etc, I give you this fact: the WaPo poll showing Obama leading Romney by exactly one % point, polled 33% Democrats, 23% Repubs, which is a wildly heavy sampling of Democrats - the actual % breakdown in the swing states is nowhere near that lopsided - Ohio, for example, shows 37% R and 36% D, Virginia, 35% R, 34% D. The undecideds usually break more than 50% for the challenger.

This BS offensive by bloggers and the media is whistling past the graveyard. They should enjoy it while they can, because their Party is over on November 6.
