Duke Energy and green payola...
"Duke Energy did not pay $10 million of the [DNC convention] shortfall. You and I did. In 2011 alone, Jim Rogers and Duke Energy received at least $224 million in Federal taxpayer subsidies for ‘green energy projects.’ ‘Green energy’ meaning that the money is gone into Democrat donor pockets. This is just payoff to the Democrats. The $10 million loan is not to start being repaid until 2013. If Obama wins, the Federal government will cover it with another subsidy. If he loses, it will be forgiven.”

Gee. The government using our (pick a country name) money against us for things we don't want any part of.
Colour.
Me.
Peeved.
Yea not a newsflash here in BC, facing another another taste of NDP "utopia".
Getting shafted seems to be a sport, here...
Here's "HOPING" for "CHANGE"

Canadian politicians must be jealous of their bretheran. The acme of the art of the con is to have someone thank you for giving them their own money.
Crony capitalism.
I do wish that Romney would go after the dems more on this issue. Arguing incompetence on the part of obama is one thing, arguing that he is corrupt is far more damaging as we in Canada can attest (adscam as lethal to the LPC).
That said, Paul Ryan do bring the topic up on a consistent basis and interweaves it with the task/promise of getting rid of the ten thousand or more tax and regulatory loopholes.
Barack Obama ... "Not on my watch...."
Remember ... the Democratic party is more a criminal enterprise than a political group.
Is this even legal? Why and how can a power company make a loan. Isn't there laws saying who and who can't make loans. What about all the campaign laws? I hope Romney takes advantage of this.
Easily solved - just tap the many rich Hollywood celebs who used the convention as a photo op to reach their fan demogrphic - trendy politics should have a cost.
I always thought DNC was the short form of Democrats - Naturally Corrupt
Joe.
DNC = Does. Not. Care.
Crony capitalism is right.
Even Bill O'Reilly and Jon Stewart agreed on the extent of corrupt media and finances.
Jonathan Kay wrote an article in Vol 2, Number 1, issue of The Dorchester Review about a book, "Republic, Lost: How Money Corrupts Congress..", by Lawrence Lessig, a self confessed liberal and policy wonk at the Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics at Harvard University (yes I know).
Lessig argues that paid lobbyists, usually former legislators, both Republican and Democrat, have since the 1970s, too much influence in the government process and have corrupted it.
Republican or Democrat, it is all the same.
I think one of them actually feels bad about it, though.
Business as usual under a kleptocrat run patronage economic system. No doubt deals like this involve skims and kick backs for all involved.
Since the advent of taxing the income of private individuals, the national treasury has attracted every con man and criminal to use this golden nest egg as a personal wealth engine.
Duke Power and all the other utility corporations are driven to do these stupid things by the government. Why are the utilities investing in solar and wind energy? It isn't because the utility workers believe in this crud. The states are mandating by LAW that utilities use "renewable" and "green" power. The states are flat out saying you will get 25% of your power from renewable resources by 2020 (MN), or 25% by 2025 (OH), etc. The utilities have no choice, they cannot disobey the law or anger the states and state utility boards, or they will get their rates slashed.
The utility executives smile through the crap sandwich they were given to chew on and make the best deals they can. And the rent-seeking goes on, because if they do not play that way, someone else will, and these executives want to stay employed. And they do not want to tick off the state utility boards and state government, or their utility gets hammered in the press and the rate cases.
These stupid renewable mandates were driven by do-gooder, it feels nice, aren't we wonderful, caring, idiots in the state legislatures and governors. Your Utility rates went up? Oh, those evil corporations did that! It has nothing to do with our renewable energy mandate and wind power costing 10-20 times as much as coal power. We are do-gooders and we FEEL for you and would never hurt you. And here is a nice program to help the poor who cannot pay their skyrocketing bills, which will be funded by the utility ratepayers that actually pay their skyrocketing bills (yep, you bill payers are supporting them). Aren't we legislators and governors wonderful caring people?!?!?
You, the voters told us what a good idea these windmills and solar panels are, and you see, we did what you wanted. We told the utilities to install them and made it a LAW mandating that they have to do it.
If you want to fix things like this, you need to vote out these idiots and vote in some "hard-nosed, hard-hearted, unfeeling" legislators and governors. You know, the kind of people that actually understand taxpayers are not a bottomless pit of money extorted for their personal vanity projects.
Years ago a kind relative left me some stock in a coal based power company near Washington DC.
It plugged along through depression, wars and recessions always being careful, paying a good increasing dividend and growing the company.
Then a new boss was promoted to the top who was very much in touch with Wall Street but not that smart. Long story short, long term pump
and dump, financial rape by the "saviours", another p&d, eventual merger and oblivion.
So today it all boils down to taxpayer rape one way (c&t, global warming)or another.
Green, green it's green they say on the fa...,er roof...
We in Ontario can't laugh at "green", this is green utopia. Capital city, Ottawa, is getting help from provincial taxpayers a la the Premier of Green to install a green roof on City hall.
What's a few million bucks as opposed to a few thousand?
Wonder if those of us with slanted roofs would qualify under green madness to install a thatched roof?
Rogers has also been long advocating "food" as the next great investment, one that will increase in value significantly, therefore, will cost all people much more in the long run.
Now seeing this part of his corruption with the DNC, I wonder, can anyone draw a line here?
He also has been advocating buying gold.....what else is he up to, to (vastly) increase the cost of that?
Promoting the excessive printing of fiat currency? Endless and excessive borrowing by the US gov, by his clients, the DNC?
DanBC, the Jim Rogers that is advocating for agriculture as an investment, gold, silver, is not the same Jim Rogers that is head of Duke Energy.

The Jim Rogers you're perhaps thinking of, from Quantum Fund and driving a couple times around the world, is found at www.jimrogers.com
It's hard to keep track of millionaire control freaks these days. Apple is one of the worst.
In a nutshell, Google owns Motorola, that owns the Wi-Fi hardware patents to every i-Phone ever built.
Apple is toast, long, Samsung wins.
A bunch of stupid hipsters are going to have NO Starbucks Wi-Fi for their MacBooks soon.

The MSM is NOT covering this.
