Honey, I Finished The Internet

I understand this may not apply to all who have migraines, but I used to have very intensely painful migraines that could last for two or three days ( with nausea)

and then one day I found out that MSG or monosodium glutamate can cause them in at least 15% of the population

I began avoiding it and my migraines almost disappeared

In my case it is almost always something added to food that causes my migraines and headaches; MSG, artificial flavors, nitrites etc...

MSG is in most prepared salty food such as soups, sauces, flavored potato chips etc

Most chocolate brands have some artificial flavors added; chocolate itself does not cause headaches. that is a myth.

Abraham Lincoln was a migraine sufferer , it poisoned his life as migraines can be awfully painful, it is impossible to describe to someone qho never had them...

There may be some truth to those old remedies.

The " ‘houseleeke and garden worms " ground up and applied om a compress may work. I don't know what houseleeke could possibly be but I do know that If I'm out fishing with worms,I do not get migraines.

Stay well hydrated.

I have a houseleak in my porch. I haven't found any worms there but my headaches are nowhere near as bad at they used to be. Of course that has nothing to do with my leaving that 10 piece Latin Band. I mean, how could anyone get headaches from loud music and late nights?

Bernie

I also take CoQ10, it helps with my energy levels ( I have IBS , insomnia, some fibromyalgia, etc...)

I did not know it helped with headaches,

what I read about it did not mention headache relief or prevention?!...

Hope CoQ10 will help my grdaughter who suffers 3-5 days a wk with migraines, many of them are severe.
The doctors have tried everything; I looked on the Mayo Clinic website and they had nothing new to add.

Having same problems as CF, I'm going to get it for myself.

Thanks CF.

gellen - that sounds like a terribly severe case. The next time Dr. Loki pops up, ask him. Maybe Kate will permit you a one-time off-topic question.

Personally, I would recommend she drink lots and lots of water. I get migraines occasionally.
