Hear that? Didn't think so.

One of the most humourous posts in 2004 was a post by Jeff Goldstein from Protein Wisdom. It was a blank post entitled, "Dog Whistle". It garnered quite a few comments if I remember correctly.

Kate responded.

Funny thing about dog whistles, only dogs and cats can hear the ultrasonic sound.

For non-dogs, Michelle Malkin has helpfully compiled a list of the nudge-nudge, wink-winks.

Apparently there are a lot of dogs at MSNBC.

They are going to keep thumping on the racist tub as it's their only hope of winning. There IS no record of accomplishments to run on,so the issue has to be deflected to something they can control, and racism is it.

The Romney/Ryan campaign must respond by featuring an articulate, prominent black person to lead off their rallies, to share the spotlight.

They and you know who I mean.

The DemoncRats are PO'd because so many blacks are leaving the plantation, and they can't put their hoods on anymore and go KKK'ing.Biden wants them back in chains, and he will get his wish,if the Zero wins.Oh.This isn't racist,as the Zero is not black. He's a brown wannabe.

Is there any relationship between racist comments that don't exist and an empty chair?

Eastwood's wonderful, insightful spoof of Obama as an empty chair in front of a blank teleprompter was a perfect image of Obama.

Obama is empty as a leader, empty of policies (remember, he leaves all policies up to others such as Valerie Jarrett, Pelosi, Reid); empty of solutions. Filled with empty words such as Hope and Change; filled with endless accusations and insults of others and empty of accepting any responsibility himself. Empty.

I'll repost that wonderful excerpt from a great poem someone wrote on Hot Air about it

"Yesterday, upon the stage,
There sat a chair in silent rage
....
The queerest thing about that chair
The more you looked the less was there.
“This chair is occupied!” said Barr,
But when you looked no one was there.
...
An empty suit, an empty chair,
A little man who wasn’t there.
He wasn’t there again today,
Oh, how we hope he goes away."

That's Obama. An empty chair occupying the White House. No leadership, no solutions, just empty words, denigration of others, insults. Exactly as Eastwood pointed out.

"The Romney/Ryan campaign must respond by featuring an articulate, prominent black person to lead off their rallies, to share the spotlight."

Weren't you lookin'...the MSM wouldcontinue to just do a live edit like it never happened...that's what they do.

Taranto, too, had a good line:

“The whole point of the metaphor is that if you can hear the whistle, you’re the dog.”

As much fun as this is, it is not entirely apt, pace Kate, Toranto, Malkin, and others, since it leaves the "dogs" with an easy layup rejoinder:

Sure we hear it. Our hearing is that acute. You Neanderthal bitter clingers can't hear it 'cause you're not as highly evolved as we, not intelligent enough, not self-conscious enough, to know what even you yourselves mean. You are conservatives. Therefore you are un-evolved, hateful, sexist, racist homophobes, whether you acknowledge it or not, and most of you are too stupid to understand that simple and obvious truth. That's who you are because that's your politics. It takes a highly-evolved high priest of postmodern neo-liberalism to "hear" what you really mean when you say `Chicago', `golf', `constitution', and so on. We know what you really mean, even if you don't. You and the rest of the country need to be schooled by us. The RNC convention was an extended "teachable moment". Learn anything, morons?

So sure: we are "dogs". We admit it. Glad to see you finally recognized that obvious fact, you deaf, dumb and blind troglodytes.

The metaphor is inapt, since the sound the dogs hear is real. The racism, etc., is a fantasy that the fevered, neo-liberal operatives are peddling for all their worth. It's long been the most effective weapon they have to shut down opposition. But it's a weapon that's fast loosing its punch from overuse in the hands of the fantasist. Clint's wise to this: ---"No, I won't shut up!"

Right, nick (and Taranto) Clint was wise, with his, 'No, I won't shut up'. And with his rejection of the insults and 'negative comments' coming from the Empty Chair. And the empty racist accusations from the left.

Remember Clint's insistence that WE are the government and the government serves US. Not the other way around, not the Empty Chair's way.

Oh, and apparently the Empty Chair is starting to be picked up as an election image. From an online post:

"I put a chair in my front yard today.I don’t need to put a campaign sign anymore thanks to Clint.
docflash on September 1, 2012 at 10:38 AM"

And
"The chair is going in my front yard in 5 minutes… Nothing else needed , Just the Chair..
A humble salute to Clint..
RockyJ. on September 1, 2012 at 11:20 AM "

ET, thanks:

CHAIR! LAWN!

It's a new campaign theme. Do it!

This is gonna be fun.

nick, that's right. What Clint Eastwood did was comparable to the little boy who cried, 'But the Emperor has no clothes!'.

Eastwood's mocking of the Empty Chair has allowed Americans to openly declare what they have been thinking. This Messiah, presented to us as a god who could stop the oceans from rising, is empty.

Others may try to tell us that if we think these thoughts much less voice them, then we are racists. Clint's answer? "I won't shut up", and 'America belongs to us. You, the government, work for us'.

Now, let's see how the left tries to silence the people with their accusations, and how the image of the Empty Chair and a bumbling old man who refuses to be silent (and a very clever Eastwood was anything but that bumbling old man)..is stronger than an empty whistle.

If I was a black American I'd be *horrified* at how increasingly, ridiculously absurd the "racism" charge is. Case in point: This post at Newsbusters, about MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell's response to Republican Senator Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's joke that Obama "has been working hard to earn a spot on the PGA tour":

That's just plain racist, even if by two or three degrees of separation, O'Donnell explained. The long and short of it: When you think Obama at the PGA, you think of Tiger Woods, and when you think of Tiger Woods, you think about his cheating on his wife…

Cheesy Crisps on a bike. Everything is racist if you want it to be:

Coffee = a thinly-veiled reference to skin color.
Yogurt = a reference to (*wink-wink*) "culture."
Pen = reference to the confined spaces on slave ships.
Paper = coded reference to Obama's birth certificate.
Washington = reference to Booker T.
School = "take him to school", a coded reference to "beat that negro slave.".
"I agree" = Simon Legree.
"I disagree" = "I am this Simon Legree."

syf, thanks for the link, but I quit reading Diane Frances after she said in a Financial Post article about two years ago that there are 6 billion too many people on earth. She probably prefers the Stalin method of population reduction.

I don't think Francis watched the rnc. I think she wrote the article on the dock of her cottage based on pre conceived notions.

I wasn't so impressed by Clint. He could have been so much more, but whatever... the election will not be won or lost on that, I believe.

With regard to Diane Francis, she has been demonstrating for a few years that she clearly is not a conservative or a right wing thinker. She has never been "one of us".

However, she may fit into a National Post organization that has shifted visibly left even in the last 6-12 months.

6 billion fewer people?

I'm not a "to desire the ends is to desire the means" type of guy but I think I could go with that idea.

So long as _I_ get to choose. There are _so_ many annoying people on my little list.

"Diane Francis goes off the deep end on Eastwood:"

A parking lot puddle has more depth than she'll ever have.

Diane Francis Catheter Ford, Yaffe, Dopeacourt ,jennifer Itchburn, they are all just Heather Mallick wannabes, and we all know there is only one Heather Mallice. I thought Eastwood was great, as did any proper thinking human, the fact that the screamin media hated it just proves how out of touch and stupid they really are. the medias game of down playing the polls on Romney will backfire like here in Alberta, our contemptuous media useless idiots had the conservatives being wiped out on April 23, as they have Obama up by 7 points everywhere, but coherent thinkers will prevail. There aren't enough chickens laying enough eggs to paste on the faces of media fools and Hollywood morons on Nov. 7. Stayed at a hotel the other night, the Nat Post was free in the morning, first time I've looked at any of those glass cleaners/canary crap catchers for years, sure found out why they give it and the Glob away, i feel for the poor paper boys in this leftie world, most people must throw these papers back at him as fast as the paper boy throws them out.

I don't know if an empty chair on the lawn makes the right statement. It could be interpreted as a sign of support by those who do not consider thought as an admirable trait.

I think breaking off 3 legs and positioning the chair at a precarious angle would convey the message much better.Perhaps you could add a copy of the NYT for ballast.

Going after a hero and icon like Clint Eastwood is not a good idea. Unfortunately, the Dem establishment and their media buddies heads' had already exploded before they woke up to this reality.

Look for them to back off now, just like they had to do with their fact check/Ryan's a liar BS on the Ryan Wisconsin plant closure comments.

As for the media, what should one expect, when CNN uses James Carville (the US equivalent to Warren Kinsella) as an "analyst" at the GOP convention.

Quite laughable indeed. I look forward to Ron Paul's and Newt Gingrich's analysis of the Dem convention for CNN.

As long as the GOP continues to pillory Obama for his you didn't build that moment, voters will eventually wake up to the Dem argument that apparently about half them are willing to vote for a greedy and racist party; and that makes them .....?

That won't go over well either.

How dare racists mock Great Leader!

Bartinsky, I enjoy your posts and agree with most of them but your love affair with nurse wretched and crew is puzzling. All we got out of last spring's election is Obama in a skirt.

This is so Breitbart....and I'm putting out my chair. The man with no name interviewing a man with no substance...absolutely brilliant.

People are hearing dog whistles all over the place. Rabbits should have such ears.

When a slobbering leg tingling Obama worshiper like Chris Mathews attempts to disparage an American icon like Clint Eastwood guess who wins.It certainly won t be that turd floating in the teapot AKA Chris the leg tingler.Very few people dislike Clint Eastwood and almost every one thinks Mathews is a opportunist jerk.

Sorry for X 2

The "racist!" dog whistles are signs of desperation. Hand out paper bags at the Democratic convention. I predict some hyper-ventilating.

Regarding Clint Eastwood's contribution.....

When ya start taking flak...it means you are over the target......

@Sasquatch

+1

sasquatch, interesting and apt analogy.

Alta guy, it is not that I'm in love with the new boss of Alberta, but I will give her a year to prove herself, I defended E.D. for a year also, I was wrong, E.D. did not do so well, but I will always give, like I do all the people I've hired over the years, a grace period. Don't let Alberta down, very simple and business like E.D. was not a businessman, hiring Ann Mclellan for a financial adviser was akin to hiring Heather Mallick to give the eulogy for Ronald Reagan.

Oh oh, looks like my comments made yesterday on this thread were cut.

Someone didn't like what they read?
