Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

Profound ignorance.
WOW. Whats the old adage? Like sheep to the slaughter. It;s no wonder they depise the Tea Party. They actually beleive the government should and will take care of them.
Wow. Talk about drinking the Kool-Aid...truly scary thought if Black Americans feel they are owned by the government. There is no hope for morons like that.
Ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Führer
The problem with these kinds of video is that the guy could ask his question on 1000 people and then do a montage of just the one with answers he wanted to hear.
Like Rick Mercer does?
I would echo what Rush says: we can survive another 4 years of Obama. We can't survive with a country in which a majority of its people would vote for Obama.
Won't be too long before they want to amend the constitution to reflect this new philosophy along with any other racist or oppressive words or themes in the document.
The "back in chains" comment makes a lot more sense now....
Shazam; It must have been last months blue moons, I have agreed with froggie for once, and like daryl said, that is exactly what Mercer does, and the CBC dopes have made him quite wealthy from Canadian taxpayers cash, for low IQ Mike Bullard type humor. But on the reality note,I talk politics when I'm there to a lot of Americans, they don't even know the capital of their country let alone their state, these are the Obamabots, uglier than a Fembot but in the long run just as destructive.
I wonder how far George Washington would have got if his slogan was 'we all belong to the government"? These people in this video would have been on the losing side of the revolution and would have been forced to move to canada as losers... er, loyalists. Now that explains alot about the Canadian condition!
http://thepeoplescube.com/current-truth/rosie-riveter-sandra-fluke-riveted-grift-generation-t8561.html
Oh Chris, as Mark Steyn would say George III looks like a libertarian compared to the USA today.
The Loyalists left their lives to settle in a rough new land out of duty to King and Country and to take the challenges and opportunities that awaited. The easy thing to do would have been to stay put and succumb to the republication mob.
They seem quite happy to be in chains.
I wonder how they will feel when the government that "owns" them is lead by a Republican?
For once I agree with qndps. I would much rather see all of the shots of the question being asked, this Rick Mercer tactic stinks.
That said, these are not just americans, not just voters, not just democratic voters, but dem party delegates. Presumably they are a big part of the dem party mindset and that is disturbing.
That so many people would invert the relationship between The People and Government is truly incredible. Hence the fatal flaw of democracy; the people can elect totalitarianism.
You cannot reason with, ie, deal with reality, with a utopian. You should never even try, for the utopian (leftist) lives in a fictional realm made up of words. And power. The power and wish to deny and ignore reality. That's Obama's realm.
But the 'social progressives', who are the urban, the government workers, the academia etc, are a key component of the Democratic base. Obama panders to them. They are easily controlled by him with his utopian rhetoric.
The economy, however, belongs to small businesses, not the very wealthy, and Obama not only ignores but attempts to dominate and control them. These people are not so easily controlled by utopian rhetoric. They live in reality.
Clinton's speech was meant to reach the Democratic leftist base who might be wavering economically and tell them that the default position of the Democrats - is the Clinton era.
That is, he was saying that the 'real world', which the Democrats have little interest in being involved in, because it is a default or inherent or necessary world...is prosperous. The Clinton era. [Causes, problems etc are ignored in this narrative].
So, since the Clinton prosperity is as basic as the soil on the planet, then, the Democrats and left can focus on the superstructure, the social mores, the Words.
Remember, the default position and person of the GOP - is Reagan.
The debates will be important but Obama will lie, lie and lie, and Romney can't be up on the podium merely as The Person of No, ie, rebutting Obama's lies. The Democrats will try that; they'll try to trap Romney into simply rebutting Obama's lies. Romney will have to ignore that and simply concentrate on his own platform.
Reality always in the end, trumps fiction, but it's an enormous fight because fiction is so easy to describe. It's nothing but words.
I don't know about black people in the USA....they definitely have a herd mentality. This was probably caused by past government taking care of them, so that is all they know.....what is scary that no matter who wins the election we still have to take care of the this herd. At least we can make it difficult for some to freeload and that maybe will change a few of them to step out and use the talent God gave them, not the government.
Regular folks watching this will shake their heads and vote for Romney. We can only hope because if Obama wins the good old USA is in big trouble.
Despite all their efforts at myth making at the DNC, the Dems only reveal they consider government the highest form of order, they booed God, and Woodward's new book show Barack Obama as a Beta Male. Which is far worse than him losing his temper.
Slaves.
These people are the enemy make no mistake about it. They should be treated as such.
No doubt Bill Clinton was better than Obama.
In fact, Clinton was probably the best president the USA ever had.
Too bad there is 2 term limits maximum.
Bill Clinton was an abject failure for the first two years until Republicans took over the houses (and the purse strings). I'll give him credit where it is due though - he is a savvy player and took the midterm defeats to mean something, recognizing the shift and acting accordingly. On this score, he has Obama beat handily. Obama got the same midterm result, and learned nothing. Clinton is indeed better than Obama. Best ever? He isn't the best of the last 30 years, let alone ever.
Quebecois NDP separatiste >
He should have declared himself Emperor like Bonaparte', no?
Then he could do what he want, like rape those cleaning women in hotel rooms and no one would bother him more. Yes this must be a good thing, but only trouble for them not everyone else, because he is a kind Emperor that "did not have a sexual relationship with that woman". He likes to bite the face instead, we?
mark and ET, well said.
It is sad to think that people would willingly vote to install a regime that would enslave them.
The power of lies is sometimes awesome. Rush Limbaugh is right.
John W. Campbell (science fiction editor) claimed when an open mind met a closed mind, the open mind won. Obviously he never worked in government, military or university. Bet on the closed mind folks.
I've made myself watch the DNC every night -- but have to admit I turned Bill Clinton off at 11:10. My ears and eyes, not to mention my credulity, were hurting by then.
http://www.nationalreview.com/campaign-spot/316070/bill-clinton-still-talking
What I'm seeing is truly scary: a small group of Democrats -- look at all of the emtpy seats -- being enthralled by nasty, negative, lying, vindictive, electioneering.
The people in this hall aren't in the least interested in what's best for their country or fellow-citizens; they're not in the least interested in reality or reaching out to other Americans; they're not in the least interested in recognizing that not all women/men are pro-abortion, pro-birth control, pro-union, pro-gay, pro-Obama.
What they are interested in is putting Americans in boxes: We're on this side and you're on that side and if you're not on our side, you're out.
'Talk about a herd/mob mentality. I'm hearing and seeing mass hysteria at this Democratic National Convention and it's ugly. "All Hail, Obama!" is the theme, which is particularly disturbing as the object of the delegates' adoration and adulation is an empty chair.
All your bases are belong to us...
Hmmm…..Republicans put you in chains….bad, bad bad….. big amorphous monolithic government in general owns you……good, excellent, a sense of family and togetherness? Slavery vs. slavery. Why?Makes me a wee bit dazed and confused...
Here's a utopian or fictional report talked about by Kirsten Powers.
"Major automakers reported Tuesday that sales grew 19.9 percent in August despite higher gas prices during the month."
She informs us that Obama 'saved' GM and this is the result. Wait. The more robust sales are not filled with GM products but with Toyota, Honda and Ford. GM's 'Spark', which is built in Korea, came in at the bottom with only 10.1 increase.
She informs us that the Bush regime caused the economic collapse, totally ignoring that the Democrats controlled Congress for the two years before Obama and it was the Democrats who set up the mortgage insanity of loans to people who could not and would not pay them.
But this slickness with words is the hallmark of the left and it's not easy countering these words with reality for it too is expressed within words.
The difference, of course, is that the words of reality are connected to objective facts, while the words of the leftist utopians stand by themselves and are thus almost dogma. You can't spend your time rebutting them. You simply have to turn your back and get on with the real world.
Will Americans choose facts or fiction?
We the PEOPLE of the United States...
Who knew the Democrats were related to The Borg?
Disgusting and horrible window on humanity.
Reserving their place on the first box car and proud of it.
As long as they're at the trough they'll do and say anything, anything at all, see Monika Lewinski and their dear impeached POS babbling liar for a leader.
I'm surprised the interviewer didn't have them barking like dogs or licking his shoes.
I admit I watched all of Mooooooo-chelle's speech but couldn't stomach Slick Willies oral offerings.
She's a piker in comparison.
batb, exactly.
What is disturbing with the left is their almost obsessive requirement for a Dear Leader whom they slavishly adore and a fixation on the utopian truth of His Words.
We know both the leader and the words are empty, but the problem is, how many people will choose reality over words.
ET, Clinton confirmed your view that the Dems live in a fictional narrative, where the GOP is responsible for all the problems which Obama, they say tried to fix, but they stopped him:
GOP hasn't controlled House for 6 years, and Senate at all since 2006!! IOW, the Dems had a stranglehold on Congress for the entire Obama administration and yet blame the GOP.
Bill Clinton, like Jean Chretien presided over a booming economy and did as little as possible. It was Bill Clinton who presided over the rise of Islamist terrorism and the genesis of the sub prime debacle. Now we're supposed to believe him about the innocence of Obama; this from the same man who said he did not have sex with Monica Lewinsky - who by his lewd act convicted himself of sexual harrassment and was impeached. Yeah, right.
Obama had nearly four years to make improvements in the economy, and Clinton uses cherry picked stats to say Obama inherited a mess from Bush (notice not Congress) and the president needs more time. Funny after nearly four years of skyrocketing debt and unemployment, now, just before an election, things are getting "better."
If the GOP can't easily overcome this meme blame game, with some rebuttal and yes, reference to their program, they deserve to lose in November.
shamrock - the GOP would 'deserve' to lose in November? There's another factor in this equation, the American people.
Do Americans want to live in reality or in a fictional realm, which must be retold to them every day, to prevent the harsh facts of reality from entering their consciousness.
After all, in the Third Reich, the function of propaganda wasn't just against the Allies but to bind the people to their Dear Leader. The same exists in other totalitarian states around the world, whether N. Korea, Iran or elsewhere.
In the US, we see this same internal propaganda, spread by the MSM, where you are discouraged from acknowledging the facts of your own individual experience of no job, no money, seeing the debt rise, etc, and are instead, told to focus on Evil People fighting a Dear Leader who wants to bring you total happiness.
Exactly - if the entire USA were filled with people in the video, would the GOP "deserve" to lose? Do you seriously think rebuttal and reference to another program matters to bots like this??
"If these folks represent the majority of American citizens then the end of their nation is near."
Relax Robert, they don't. This is the lunatic fringe of partisan hackery talking here. If there was a DNC ad out saying the moon was made of green cheese, they'd be eating it for dinner.
frenchdipstick said: "The problem with these kinds of video is that the guy could ask his question on 1000 people and then do a montage of just the one with answers he wanted to hear."
Yeah, it sucks when somebody does it to your side for a change doesn't it?
dipstick also said: "In fact, Clinton was probably the best president the USA ever had."
Yeah, because 80 men, women and children dead at Waco and the birth of the American Jihad was totally awesome!
heh, thanks phantom. Nice post.
Thanks ET. :) Its a civic duty to remind those with short memories of what has gone before.
qdip probably wasn't even alive when Clinton was elected, he's most likely learning history here for the -first- time.
Like Ive said for years, some people want to be, or are born slaves. That a person can entertain the thought that they belong to a government , rather than run it as a populous. An extension of individual will beholden to them, not us belonging to it. Tells me just how far along serfdom they have traveled.
They have already surrendered their will to an amorphous entity run by Masters.
They are not free persons anymore, but extensions of this Group who deem themselves above others. Not
Working for the public but controlling them. Even their Natural rights that Government has no business curtailing or advocating.
Its slavery by any other name. Be it King, Priestly Caste, Including Dictator. BY any other name its peon ville. Your owned amigo.
Some have always found solace in that.
Freedom frightens them.
Phantom, perhaps not 50% + 1 yet ... but I would be very interested in the results of a truly scientific, independent poll, asking two questions:
1. It was recently stated in an advertisement that "We All Belong to the Government". Do you agree or disagree with that assertion?
2. Do you think corporate profits and corporate salaries should be capped?
Phantom, ET, anyone else ... care to guesstimate what percentage of people given this poll would answer in the affirmative to both of them, in these regions:
a. America
b. Canada
c. Western Europe
Progressives (polite word for left-liberals, red-Tories, socialists, fascists, statists of all varieties and Parties) always pimp the mindless toward slavery. Obama is the latest pimp to come along and he has surpassed his predecessors by surrounding himself with and attracting a huge following of looters and thugs that make Rand's villains seem benign. Even the feminists have been pimped by the draw of "free stuff".
Thanks to national socialized education, Obama has been blessed with the most infantile electorate ever.
Oddly, the Consitution of the United States of America does not use the word government... it talks about the People and about a Union but never mentions becoming one people, under one government under(the)one leader.
What would have made the video more impacting is if the videographer would have asked what is the first line of the Constitution of the United States?
"We the people,..."
Oh, and Bill Clinton could be considered the better President if you actually think morally bankrupt, licentious jerks, who think with their dicks (and ruin nice blue dresses)make good leaders.
Robert W (Left Coast)
My guess:
1 a. 50% Agree
1 b. 60% Agree
1 c. 70% Agree
2 a. 60% Yes
2 b. 70% Yes
2 c. 80% Yes
The problem with these kinds of video is that the guy could ask his question on 1000 people and then do a montage of just the one with answers he wanted to hear.
Just like the CBC loves to do.
RobertW said: "...I would be very interested in the results of a truly scientific, independent poll..."
Why? Polls suck as indicators of what's going to happen. Self-report is among the weakest types of evidence you can get.
We already know the answer anyway. Chik-fil-A Appreciation Day, record crowds. Kiss-in, 500 bussed-in agitators. That tells you more than any poll ever will.
The distribution of socialist nuttery in Europe, Canada and America is tightly centered in the urban zones of large cities. Example, Minneapolis/St. Paul in Minnesota. In the city, everybody you talk to is a partisan Dem. You drive FIVE MILES out of the city, everybody votes Republican and has no respect for politics.
I know the same is true in Canada, I see no reason to think Europe is any different.
What's interesting in the USA right now is the number of people you hear in public spontaneously going off on their federal government. I've been seeing that phenomenon in New York, Arizona, Massachusetts and California since 2008. They literally start yelling about the national debt in the grocery store the Starbucks, wherever. And I mean yelling, not quietly complaining to their friend. Normal people, yelling spontaneously about government policy. Every place you go its possible to hear that happening pretty much daily.
I expect that kind of thing in Arizona because that's the cowboy/sixshooter kind of place it is, but Cupertino CA? Cambridge MA? Utica NY?
We'll see how it turns out presently, but my money is on the Tea Party.
Robert - I won't dare to speculate about percentages, though John Chittick's reply seems reasonable.
The capping of profits is an insane idea. What bothers me is that people seem to think that profit is evil, and is somehow 'taking from the finite pie' and selfishly keeping it.
First, an economy doesn't operate as a finite pie. We live in a growth economy, our population grows, our new technological developments grow, our new products develop. We do NOT live in a stasis finite pie economy; that ended with hunting and gathering economies.
So, growth is a reality. What do we do with growth, aka profits, wealth? Stick it in our old socks? No. We INVEST it into building more homes, building a new factory, hiring more workers.
Therefore, IF we do not enable profit, aka wealth production, THEN, there'll be nothing to INVEST. No jobs, no homes, no roads.
I repeat. No roads. Obama's stupid statement that 'you didn't build that' referred to your private business. He claims it referred to the roads that the government builds. Hey, Mr. Obama, that's just as stupid. Where do you think your government gets the money to build those roads? Where? Hmmm?
From the taxpayer's profits. That's where. From the profits of the business that they built and worked for. So, not only do we individuals deserve credit for building our own businesses. We deserve credit for loaning our money to a middle agency, government, to pool and build OUR roads.
And my left-wing, well heeled, well “educated”—“indoctrinated” is more like it—friends—for old times’ and residual affection’s sake—are salivating over Moo-chelle. (She does have lovely hands: “The more to grab your money, my dear.”)
The gullibility and stupidity of the left, especially those who misuse their smarts, is altogether discouraging.
Among other non-flattering observations of Charles Krauthammer’s about the FLOTUS fairy tale, disguised as a speech: “. . . Looking at the scene, looking at how he’s conducted himself in the presidency and particularly campaign, with ruthlessness and determination and drive, it [Michelle’s fiction] is not quite a plausible story. I’m sure in the arena it was a plausible story. I saw the tears but I’m afraid, I thought it’s a great speech but I didn’t buy a line of it.”
