Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

The Romney campaign is effectively reframing the leftie narrative that conservatives are mean.
Let's see testimonials from some of the people whose lives Obama has affected; Bill Ayers etc.
Maybe a woman that watched her aborted baby die on a stainless steel plate in an O.R. could come forward at the D.N.C. and thank B. Hussien for not putting her through the experience of raising a daughter while she really wanted a son.
if Mitt had a son, he might look like David.
oh yeah Mitt has sons.......
he did this in addition to his own family.
There are several stories like this about mitt. This one happened when he was 32.
Are there ANY stories remotely like this about Obama*
* - passing a spliff around does not count.
who would have ever guessed that in the USA, faith, success and sympathy would be reviled as credetials for the Presidency.
stunning, Hollywood has created a bizarro world and wants to institute it as the norm.
Gord, I just heard you on Dennis Miller's show. Great stuff!
P.S. Please remember that your "special status" on there is forever saved!
Thanks so much, Robert! I've been trying all day to find this testimony, and others, that I missed last night.
'Deeply touching, showing the Romney's care and compassion for their fellow human beings. Of course they've not touted this side of their characters. As Scripture puts it, don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing and "do" charitable works in secret. I believe that all faiths adhere to this tenet.
It was amusing to see Mark Shields', Judy Woodruff's, Gwen Ifil's and to some extent, David Brooks' complete bafflement that the Romneys had not used these testimonies in campaign ads. They haven't and I doubt that they will, as that's not the kind of people they are: They are not braggarts.
What I saw in Mitt Romney last night was a diffident man, a humble man, a serious and committed man, concerned for the well-being of America, summed up in the line from his speech, "I wish President Obama had succeeded because I want America to succeed."
A pox on all those who see only "a rich man." Being rich isn't a sin: It's the love of money that's sinful and it would appear that Mitt and Ann Romney have used their money to be generous to others. I gather from one of the convention speeches (Rubio?) that Obama gives less than 1% of his personal wealth (and, yes, he's rich too) to charity, while Mitt Romney gives 16%, not to mention his time and talent.
Mitt Romney's wealthy enough to never have to work another day in his life and to spend the rest of his days in leisure and luxury. It's a testament to his sense of duty and his character that he's chosen to run for POTUS. He's running into a disaster of mythic proportions, head-on, after four years of the Obamanation Government, but he's doing it with his eyes open because he feels he can make the difference the U.S. needs at this point in their history to not fall off the cliff and become a have-not country.
God bless him and the U.S. of A. Romney isn't promising to slow the rise of the oceans and to heal the planet, as Obama (LOL) promised in 2008. "My promise" he said, "is to help you and your family."
Right on, Mitt! That's what's needed.
Let's see, hmm, comparisons of Romney's compassion and care of others with Obama. Hmm. Ah, there's Obama's half-brother in Kenya, who lives in exteme poverty, who needed help with his child's medical bills. Obama? Nothing. No help. Nothing.
Obama's aunt in the US, an illegal, living in poverty. Obama? Nothing. No help.
Something else to consider. Some of the left were declaring that the GOP are racist, because at the convention, there were very few black people in the audience. Now think about this.
Should it be the case where a political party must pay people to attend (and I've heard that some leftist groups pay people to attend meetings and rallies)? Should they select people, not on the basis of those people actually liking party policies, but due to and only to their skin colour or ethnic heritage?
IF black people CHOOSE to attend a conference because the presidential candidate is black, and CHOOSE not to attend a conference because the presidential candidate is white, then who are the racists in this situation? Many black people choose Obama simply because of his skin colour. That's been said by black members of congress as well as the public.
Or is it because the Democrats have so destroyed the black family as an economic unit, transforming them into single parent families dependent on government welfare, that black people vote for the Democrats only because of their dependence on this government funding?
So, do black people vote Democrat because the leader is black, or do they vote Democrat because the Democratic Party has made them dependent on government money?
Therefore, why should it be deemed necessary for the GOP to have a quota of black people, or indeed, to have any identity bloc, in their audience. As Romney and other speakers said again and again, there is no such thing as an identity bloc person; everyone is an American.
True measure of a man is right. This shows Romney cares about people, while Obama only cares about appointing more kommissars and destroying the free enterprise spirit.
Three cheers for Gord.
Romney cares.
Obama sucks.
Very simple
Is this a testimony of a man who has no heart?
Watch the left spin this. They will try.
Maybe Dinesh D'Souza knows someone with a sick-kid-in-the-hospital story who would like to tell it?
"Incredible though it seems, George Obama is, within the context of his own society, a conservative. He doesn’t worship at the shrine of Barack Obama Sr. and he espouses an ideology diametrically opposed to that of his father and his famous brother. George has experienced first-hand the empty rhetoric of the two Baracks, and he rejects it based on his actual experience of Third World poverty.
No wonder President Obama despises George, doesn’t want him around, doesn’t care to hear George’s views circulated in America, and won’t lift a finger to help him even when George’s son is in the hospital. "
"How I became George Obama's 'brother"
http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/08/16/how-became-george-obama-brother/
Romney isn't an empty suit. Or an empty chair. Notice how he went to Louisiana today, and the Democrats are angry, saying that Romney ought to have waited until, ah, Obama had the time to go there first. So, you only do something for political gain?
Here's a few lines from a poem over at Hot Air on Clint Eastwood's wonderful, really wonderful spoof of Obama last night:
Yesterday, upon the stage,
There sat a chair in silent rage
....
The queerest thing about that chair
The more you looked the less was there.
“This chair is occupied!” said Barr,
But when you looked no one was there.
...
An empty suit, an empty chair,
A little man who wasn’t there.
He wasn’t there again today,
Oh, how we hope he goes away."
That sums up Obama. Eastwood's spoof said things that no politician would dare to say or he'd be accused of everything from racism to disrespect. But Eastwood's performance as an old, bumbling man standing up for America against someone who is abusing American's rights, has the left enraged, and, sadly, many on the right puzzled.
Now, Romney has to lay out the specifics of his plan and also, keep showing Americans that he cares.
Gord Tulk - Obama does have a story like Romney's, actually, and it is just as true: we know his half brother and aunt live in destitution in Kenya, while Obama could relieve that destitution for probably a few hundred bucks a month ( his aunt sells coal on the street).
George Obama, one of Barry's half brothers lives on a few dollars a month, and solicited Dinesh D'souza for a thousand dollars for his child's medical care, because, apparently brother Barry can' t spare anything from the nearly $800,000 of income he grossed last year.
His aunt needs to have her teeth fixed, but she too, is a have-not who apparently does not move Barry's compassion.
What do that tell you about the compassion of Barack Obama?
I'm sure Chris Mathews will find some racist code in their speech. The whole racist code thing they keep harping on about is pretty hilarious if you think about it for even one second. Follow the logic on this one. Let's say you're a racist who hates black people. Who are you going to vote for? So why does Romney need to secretly communicate with these people? If there really is a big block of racist voters out there they are already going to either stay home or vote Romney.
Romney is a good man. He is competent, funny, has a great family and knows how to pick winners. He helps people.
So why is that bat-eared, pompous, hedonistic and selfish (hey brother George- how's that ten bucks a year going?) Obama is still matching him in the polls?
The media, that's why. They deserve a special place in hell. Not the outer ring but some really nasty inner ring.
Chris Matthews seems to be especially weird. His hair seems to be falling out and foam comes from his mouth. Zombie anyone?
Well you see, this fine couple have just put the lie to the 'evil uncaring white man' meme.
Mitt Romney cares about dying child...
MR writes last will and testament for DYING CHILD.
MSM meme is hit by phalanx of torpedoes, and they say Mitt Romney has no depth. No wonder the Dems will be in an unholy rage.

Why don't some Republicans start a donation campaign to get Obama's family $100,000 so they can take care of themselves. It would be a nice touch.
First of all, I altogether agree with batb, ET, Ken and others who respect Mitt Romney and believe he is a man of the utmost integrity. Yes, forget His Lordship, Obama’s pledges to lower the oceans and heal the planet—WHAT a narcissist. Romney actually wants to really help citizens and their families, and he has the skill set to do it. (What a novel idea!)
Re the take-off poem ET quotes: I thought it was by G.K. Chesterton—who, most assuredly, would be voting for Romney. It’s not. And, astonishingly, it has a Canadian connection. From Wikipedia (sorry):
“‘Antigonish’ is an 1899 poem by American educator and poet Hughes Mearns. It is also known as ‘The Little Man Who Wasn't There’, and was a hit song under that title.
“Inspired by reports of a ghost of a man roaming the stairs of a haunted house in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada, the poem was originally part of a play called The Psyco-ed which Mearns had written for an English class at Harvard University about 1899. In 1910, Mearns put on the play with the Plays and Players, an amateur theatrical group and, on 27 March 1922, newspaper columnist FPA printed the poem in ‘The Conning Tower’, his column in the New York World.
Text
Yesterday, upon the stair,
I met a man who wasn’t there
He wasn’t there again today
I wish, I wish he’d go away...
When I came home last night at three
The man was waiting there for me
But when I looked around the hall
I couldn’t see him there at all!
Go away, go away, don’t you come back any more!
Go away, go away, and please don’t slam the door... (slam!)
Last night I saw upon the stair
A little man who wasn’t there
He wasn’t there again today
Oh, how I wish he’d go away.”
Yes, please DO, Mr. Obama. (Have “folks” seen his Twitter response to Eastwood? Pathetic.)
I believe that Eastwood’s appearance at the RNC should have been labelled a “skit”: as that, it was very accessible. As a “speech”, of course, it was somewhat baffling—but wonderful! He mockingly exposed the president for the tiny, mean-spirited, loser, no-man that he is.
A so-so Yank friend of mine and I were talking about this today. He said that Clint was a traitor for not respecting the Zero.I asked him if that meant respecting the office,or the person in it.He replied, both. So I asked him if,say,Lenin,or Stalin,or Pol Pot where POTUS,would he respect them? He said yes,as they would have been duly elected to the office.I just looked at him, laughed, and left, telling him do not expect the right to save your butt when one of the above,or their protege, come knocking.
Leftardism truly is a mental disease.
Leftardism truly is a mental disease.
Justthinkin - incredible. So, once a person is elected to an office, let's say as president, then they can no longer be criticized. It is assumed that they can do no wrong, make no mistakes.
A certain gentlemen of the Third Reich was also elected. Eventually it became not merely a sign of disrespect to criticize him but an action of treason punishable by death.
ET, yes, remember it was offensive to mention B. Hussien's middle name for the first months of his presidency. Hence, Mark Levin took to referring to him as "Milhous" because we weren't allowed to say his real name. Or look and point at his jumbo sized ears.
All offensive.
Further to my post above;
How much money have Barack and Michelle donated to the democratic party for causes other than themselves?
(thanks for the shout out Robert.)
ET, the question you posed is an interesting one. While the percentages of Black voters supporting the DNC may vary slightly depending on whether Obama is the candidate, the dependency you cited is the real issue. Dennis Prager described it well.
Scar, I was thinking the exact same thing my self. If the Replublican party was politically apt, they should enact this post haste!
Every word of Dennis Prager in that clip was so true. I especially liked his comment that peace activists did not liberate Auschwitz, soldiers did.
Peace activists, social engineers, entitlement pimps and Marxist utopia charlatans will not advance humanity or oppose the attempts to create another world wide caliphate.
At the risk of feeding the resident troll, the fact that 70% of black children are born into single parent households, many if not most of which are government dependent, suggests a tendency if not compulsion to vote for the party of government largesse.
If you're a taker and not a maker, you'll likely vote Democrat/NDP. Just the way it is.
No guff, et and Phil: this is hardly a racial phenomenon. It happens in other areas like NL QC the UK. Simply put, The more dependent you are on govt the less productive you are, the less morals you have, and the more left you are. Thus the elites running the parties of the left - and they are all far more elitist than those on the right - try and expand govts role in your life.
The way Romney acted for a dying boy as compared to the way Obama does not act for his poor relations shows their mindsets.
In Obama's world there are no individuals, everyone is part of a collective group, and since the collective groups are so large only a massive government program spending billions can help them.
Romney sees everyone as an individual and believes that everyone, including himself, has the Christian duty of one human being to another to help out in times of trouble.
Obama's mindset leads to the culture of dependence shown by those New Orleans residents who did not evacuate as Katrina approached and then did nothing to help each other, though some of them helped themselves to a spot of looting. All they did was complain about how long they had to wait for the government to come and rescue them and give them $4,000 FEMA credit cards to spend in strip clubs.
Romney's mindset is exemplified by Japan after the earthquake and tsunami last March. People helping strangers to get to high ground when the tsunami warning sirens sounded, volunteering for the search parties, business owners (and the Yakuza!) loaning their equipment and opening their warehouses to keep everyone fed and sheltered.
There is no question which is the better culture to live in and is viable in the long term.
So this November the question for our southern friends is who would you rather have for a neighbour? Or as a leader?
Why didn't the papers find stories like this when they were digging into Mitt's past, and reporting on a forced haircut?
It seems the examples shown point out that compassion begins in the heart of the individual.
Compassion that is freely given to the truly needy.
Contrast that to the left-wing idea that compassion can only be affected by means of monetary exchange.
The former is truly compassionate ... the latter is truly crass.
ET....according to him, once "elected",you cannot make mistakes. You are all seeing, all powerful, and infallible. What can you say to such a screwed up view?
Posted by: Justthinkin at September 1, 2012 12:50 PM
I think you're onto something.
No wonder the Church of Rome had been such a strong supporter of the Democratic Party's social justice blueprint.
Church of Rome? Is what Dick Slater has contagious?
Moving on, if the popular press had to admit that Romney was a decent man, they would have to throw themselves off of a cliff a few minutes afterward.
